Comments: Had so many recommendations to try this line. First of all, is it the smoothest braid I have ever used? Yeap, no arguing about that. Unfortunately, it is also one of the LEAST abrasion resistant lines I have ever used so if you fish rivers like I do stick to Powerpro. I kid you not, any small knicks you have in this line you better retie or risk breaking off. I bought 3 different 15lb spools for my spinning setups and it's the same problem across all 3 spools. If you're doing something like float fishing for salmon/steelhead then it is a decent line. However, again, if you fish anywhere where your line gets frayed constantly, choose powerpro.

Comments: Heard good reviews from some close friends about Smackdown braid and decided to give it a try. I love using Seaguar Tatsu and have never had an issue, so figured I'd give their braid a shot (previously ran PowerPro Super Slick 8). In 3 months, I've had this 20lb line on my medium casting rod snap 6 times (3 while casting and 3 on hooksets). This 40lb line on my med heavy casting rod has broken twice during casts. The color completely came off when I spooled them (looked like I colored my hand with pencils). I'm not a PowerPro advocate, but I never had these issues with PowerPro. My advice is to stay away from this line. Not at all worth the hype.

Comments: This review is about the 30lb braid. I've been a weekend tournament angler for over 30 years and have decided to transition from fluorocarbon to braid with fluorocarbon leaders, in doing so, experimenting with various sizes and breaking points for braid. I use 30lb fluorocarbon when fishing lightweight Texas rig in Arizona waters. Mostly clear water and not much cover. I also use this for spinnerbaits and light cover pitching of Senkos and plastics. Overall, the modern 8X braid lines are amazing. They are very quiet through the guides and can increase casting distance and accuracy.

Comments: I have tried both the 10 and the 15 pound variants, I was casting on my lawn waiting for the ice to disappear. Four casts later with a hookless jig head and a 4 inch trailer, both snapped. Thinking it was a bad knot, I retired with an improved clinch knot and yes I wetted the knot. I was able to pull with minimal hand strength and break both lines. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY this stuff is GARBAGE!

Comments: Ya'll. Oh. My. Goodness. Some braids are good. Most braids are great. But this stuff... I can throw a weightless trick worm 42 yards with a 6'10" spinning rod. Its almost like how flouro is compared to mono. Seaguar braid vs everybody else. Some may have a purpose but this stuff is the new benchmark in perfection. Wow.

Comments: Fished the Susquehanna River yesterday and had two rods with Smackdown spooled. As others have noted, this stuff gets frayed easy, easy, easy! In fact, I lost three Megabass 110's on these rods - two just broke off when the line gently rubbed against rocks, and one just flew off when a backlash hit mid-cast. Other rods with older braid (fluoro tipped) did not lose a single bait or fish all day. I've been using Smackdown on grass rivers and soft bottom lakes without issue, but holy Moses do not use when there is any kind of abrasion possible. Unless you love losing expensive baits and fish.

Comments: I'm a huge fan of Seaguar fishing line and have used Smackdown as my braid of choice for many years.Something changed when they switched to this new color line. The old Smackdown was green and performed very well. This grey line gets frayed just by running through your guides. This causes weak spots and line failures.I'll keep using their fluorocarbon line but I'm looking elsewhere for braid.

Comments: Complete garbage! I'm a guide and have been using the OG smackdown for years. Beware! This is not the smackdown of yesteryear. I've have more cast offs, break offs, and failed knots in the last 6 months since spooling this new version than I've had in the previous 6 years. When tied to a leader it leaves a weak spot and breaks just above the knot. If you backlash and pick, your line is compromised and gets weak spots, this even if you just use your fingers to clear the backlash. I've had clients with broken hearts. 15 reels spooled with this line, all thrown in the trash after a few months. The grey turns white quickly and frays just from looking at it. If you're into losing lures and big fish this is the line for you.

Comments: Gave it a try, this stuff gets little hairs coming off of it after one use and starts feeling like sewing thread which is the best part of it. The worst part is that it breaks with any kind of shock to it. If you like setting the hook on fish like i do, forget it, it breaks like a pretzel stick. No line has ever broken my heart more than this cruddy crap.

Comments:I purchased the Stealth Gray braid, and I'm disappointed in how quickly it fades. After using it on about 10 fishing trips, the line is a very light gray color, almost white. It's very visible. Don't waste your money on this color.

Comments:Have only used in 15 lb on spinning set ups but this line has been phenomenal. It casts better than any braid I've used before and it's been money on hook sets. Long casts on hair jigs and finesse keitechs on spinning tackle and this braid gets those baits out further and keeps em buttoned. Works for me.

Comments: I have used Smackdown Braid for a few years now and have been pleased with it's performance ....... until now.I purchased 3 spools of 20# for use on my wife's and son's new spinning rod and reel setups.Tipped them both with 10# Segar Floro using the FG knot.My son lost 3 fish because the line broke on the hook set, and my wife lost one fish for the same reason. Both were fishing crank baits....I'm taking the line of this weekend and replacing it with Spiderwire Ultracast .Very unhappy.

Comments:This line is very thin, doesn't dig in on itself on the spool that much, and is ridiculously castable but it's by far the least abrasion resistant braid I've used (compared to powerpro spectra, maxcuatro, and Daiwa j-braid 8x for reference). I spooled up my crankbait rod with 20lb and I've had several line failures due to the individual strands separating and fraying even when using 15' of fluorocarbon leader. Seems like it would be good line for finesse spinning applications away from cover, just don't expect it to hold up if you're around any wood or rocks.

Comments:Smackdown is my favorite Finesse braid. It takes a bit to break in, especially this newer stuff, but it's thin and perfect for spinning rod applications. For Casting rods, you'll find some trouble using anything under 40 pound if you aren't careful or you don't know what you're doing. There will be some fraying, but like the original, I haven't noticed any weakening problems. For casting rods, use 40lb and above or switch over to power pro.

Comments:I really like the Smackdown braid. Liked it better in green moss. I also feel that 20 And up is best. Felt like 10 and 15 were to fragile. I do know the fray they complain about but honestly if you really know what you're doing tieing a knot you won't have any issues. Extremely smooth to save wear on your rod and reel. quieter than every other braid I've tried including power pro and by far the best casting braid on my spinning reels.

Comments:This line has surely been advertised but it is the WORST BRAID I have EVER used. Comes apart easily and tangles on spool easily.Ive tried 10, 15 and 20.Horrible braid.I came home today and ripped it all off every reel i had it on and threw away a couple new spools.Maybe in 50 and 65 its better but Im not going to try it with all the other quality braids out there.

Comments:Used the new smack down braid this past week and was not impressed.Used the 10 lbs line for throwing top water baits; Line broke on the first fish and then I had issues tying a polomar knot, no matter how hard I tried not to overlap the line the knot would just break upon tightening. Also has issues with the line puffing up like it was full of static, which also made the line harder to tie to the lure. Even tried typing a non slip loop knot to no avail.Love Segar line just not their Braid...

Comments:Loved the original smackdown. tried 3 different test poundage this yr . Finding that any backlash will leave a weak spot, and any fray is very weak. lost 2 spinnerbaits and broke off 2 nice fish on docks. Not happy . I use FX2 for frogging and Invizix for my flouro,so I am not bashing Seagar. Just be carefull with this line.

Comments:Got the 20lb from TW, this stuff cast very far. so far no issues with fraying and I fish rocky lake Perris in So cal. It does fade but all braided line does. very good braid for me so far.

Comments:this by far is absolutely the worst braided fishing line that I have ever used. Don't expect to have a gray spool of line after two weeks of fishing the line looks like white thread.my personal opinion they should have stuck with the original seaguar SmackDown in green.

Comments:THE BEST BRAID for a spinning rod. This stuff casts far with an 8lb fluro leader

Comments:Just got some of this. Spooled it up on a new Diawa Tatula SV TW 6:3. Line does have some slight line twist/memory, perhaps because it's been on the spool a while? Never experienced that with Power Pro. Also it doesn't cut as well as PP - seems to fray a little too easily. It does cast well, or maybe that's just the Taula, lol. Everything seems to cast well on a Tatula. I'll give it some time and see what happens. Overall it seems like decent enough braid. It's certainly strong, but we'll know more about that after a catch a few hogs with it.

Comments:I was disappointed with this line.I bought the 20lb test, and it breaks very easily and the color fades quickly as well.I lost multiple lures while casting this due to the line breaking/getting worn quickly on debris.
