Overview

Designed to fire fish up in the 3- to 5-foot range, the Strike King Hybrid Hunter Crankbait delivers an incredibly unique action capable of inciting vicious strikes wherever bass may lurk. To help predators locate and hone-in on the Hybrid Hunter, Strike King incorporated an incredibly loud rattle system that bass can find in murky or heavily stained water.

The Strike King Hybrid Hunter Crankbait utilizes a unique hunting action that bass and other predators find simply irresistible. It bounces and deflects off cover erratically as it hunts along your lakes bottom structure where bass lie in wait. The front of the bait features a unique bill that not only creates the eccentric action, but it also helps it come through grass better than any other hard bait allowing you to target more fish in more conditions than ever before. An ideal way to locate schools of fish, the Strike King Hybrid Hunter Crankbait is a must-have addition to any angler’s crankbait toolbox.

Good grass crankbaitThese things come through grass very well. They're as good as a trap at coming through and ripping free. They also come through shallow cover extremely well. They cast well for a strike king bait and there is no doubt when you get a bite on one. If you fish on a grass lake or fish shallow cover, these are a great bait to have in your lineup.

Big bass in the grassReally great lure around hydrilla. Action and noise draws fish of all sizes. Caught a 10 pounder last night on the black/gold color. Always have one tied on. Decent hooks and cast well. Nice color selection.

Great for grassThis bait is great around grass. It runs shallow and has a gradual dive. It’s also very buoyant. Burn it, slow roll, tick the grass, rip it, stop and go, or crash the grass and let it float up. They all work. I like go back through an area where I’ve thrown a chatterbait and follow up with the HH.

Hybrid hunter in the grassI have had more fun cranking the Hybrid hunter Jr down here in Florida. After four times out in my kayak the count is currently 30 bass on the Hybrid. Cranking really isn’t my style, rather slow down with a worm. For now the Hybrid is my go to bait.

Work for fishThis bait is living up to its hype. If you are willing to work, it will work you, and keep this bait moving it will likely exceed your expectations I have caught 2 fish in the 6 pound range, numerous 4 pound fish caught 2 in one cast and another on the very next cast to catch 2 back to back 4ish right after all in the last month or so.

The MovementI like the way this comes thru the cover better that other shallow baits. Hitting sticks and deflecting off of them is awesome.

Broke first useI cast this lure three times. Using it over rock. The lip broke off and the color flaked off quickly.

Great for the grassIt comes through the hydrilla a lot better than I would expect. Have been getting some much better than average bites. Don't think they see a lot of big crankbaits normally. Definitely recomend for fishing hydrilla.

Comments: Love this bait...have had great success with it through grass and off structure. Wide wobble really fires them up. Good hooks, haven't lost any bites.

From: Unknown: 9/20/23

Comments: It doesn't work. So as far as I'm concerned nobody should buy these lures and leave them all to me wink wink! Superb lure designed perfectly by an intense no nonsense guy who has bass swimming in his blood. Very fortunate to have him on the strike king staff and thank you tackle warehouse for the best online shopping business out there! Hats off and hook sets to all of you! As for Todd. You're the man.

From: Chad : Faribault, MN 55021 8/28/23

Comments: This bait is a copy of another from years ago. The designer Todd Casteldine dominated several events with this bait prior to its release. He rereleased it with Strike King and now has the JR version with awesome new color options. This bait fishes awesome around grass and really catches quality fish.

From: john: Montgomery Texas 3/21/23

Comments: This bait is unbelievable, it crawls through Florida hydrilla almost like it's not there and generates strikes when other baits don't work , highly recommend this bait, personally I own several, great bait

From: Dan: Webster Fl 3/20/23

Comments: Haven't used it much yet it moves great through grass well. Plus everyone on youtube was talking it up as this hot new bait so we will see how it does.

From: Steve: NJ 3/10/23

Comments: Hands down my goto bait when fishing sparse grass clumps. Works well most of the year and is a good bait to use to draw a bigger bite. Be careful you might just catch your PB on this one!

From: Bryan: Conroe, Texas 1/5/23

Comments: I fish mostly in the lakes of the Harris Chain. Most of the lakes are loaded with different types of grass. Mostly hydrilla and eel grass. The strike king hybrid hunter is a great bait for this type of cover. The action of this bait and its weedless tendencies make it a staple.

From: Roger: 12/25/22

Comments: ABSOLUTELY LOVE this bait. It feels very active when retrieving and when visible it really looks like a fish on the hunt. Can't wait to throw it in the proper season.

From: Russ: Bee Cave, TX 11/24/22

Comments: I love these lures especially over and around grass. I don't usually catch enough keepers where I fish but with these things, I usually put multiple limits in the boat and a lot of the time for bigger fish. LOVE THEM.

From: Travis: Antioch, Ca 11/20/22

Comments: Something about this bait just fires up the fish. The Smooth color has great iridescent flash in the blues that really cuts through murkier waters.

From: Mike: Iowa 11/17/22

Comments: Great Bait!! I own a whole box full of them. The junior gets the call on most days with good results. Goes without saying this bait excels around submerged grass if your lake has it. A good alternative to lipless cranks and bladed jigs. Get you a box full of them.

From: John: Alabama 11/4/22

Comments: An excellent crankbait with a very unique action. Due to the shape of the bill it travels straight in the water column, parallel to the bottom. This means it comes through sparse grass extremely well and is where I find it most effective. It is also one of the most buoyant cranks I've ever used, nearly on par with a balsa crank. One of the baits I purchased did need some tuning out of the box though. It would always drift to the left and it made it impossible to parallel the bank due to it wanting to beach itself. Some needlenose pliers and a tiny twist to the line tie (not the O ring) corrected that. One small complaint is that this bait does not do well with short strikes. The back hook is significantly smaller than the front and it seems any lazy swipes don't often get pinned very well. Take that for what it's worth, because I believe the smaller back hook contributes to the unique hunting action. All in all a 4/5 for me! The Jr. size is perfect for most applications.

From: Ruben: Illinois 8/16/22

Comments: I have been fishing this thing on shallow lakes with submerged grass. The bass love them. Its pretty easy going through the grass. I'm using any color that resembles a Bluegill. Its better than a squarebill in submerged grass, thats for sure. I use the junior size.

From: Beamer: South Carolina 8/12/22

Comments: This hybrid hunter is a worker. Unlike any other crankbait is comes through cover dramatically, which is where the Big boys roam. Even in stained water, this thing puts in the work.

From: Edward: Michigan 8/7/22

Comments: Been using this bait for about a year. Excellent and effective shallow water crank. Great around wood and other cover. A super product to add to the arsenal, for both tidal waters and impoundments.

From: Bob : Laurel 8/1/22

Comments: My bass fishing friend and I have used both the regular and jr a lot lately because they catch bass for us! So far the jr has worked better for us. We love the erratic motion, the rattle and how well it deflects off obstacles. Also casts well. Strike King seems to have done a really good job putting them together and painting them because the lures are holding up well even with our banging them off wooden structures! I wasn't sure about the different blade before buying but it actually works very well. For myself and my fishing friend, the Sweet Shad has been our most productive color by far!

From: Dennis: Raleigh, NC 7/4/22

Comments: I have not fished the Hybrid Hunter yet without catching Largemouth or Spots on it. I've fished it in an oxbow off of the Apalachicola River in FL, and farm ponds. It's like a four wheel drive crankbait: you can throw it just about anywhere. I recommend this lure right now. It will have a wear out date like any other lure that a bunch of guys use, but I'm convinced that we haven't gotten anywhere near that wear out date yet. I recommend "chartreuse perch" or "bully" as color selections. Buy one, just one. I bet you'll be back for more.

From: Harold: Dothan, AL 7/2/22

Comments: I wasn't familiar with this lure until I read a "Tackle That's Trending" piece with Ray Hanselman in the May 2022 Bassmaster. I decided to order some. I'm glad I did. It works differently as a crankbait but it works! In areas that call for a shallow-running crankbait, it has already performed extremely well for me and my fishing buddy. We have caught a lot of bass on the Sweet Shad version in the last several weeks!

From: Dennis: Raleigh, NC 6/19/22

Comments: The Hunter does get through weeds/cover amazingly well ! Although, I do have other shallow running cranks that seem to get catch more fish.

From: Brad: Washington 6/9/22

Comments: Great deflecting cover and grass has great action and good colors definitely getting a couple more of these.

From: Mario: California 6/7/22

Comments: Lots of people saying it cuts through grass like butter...this is not always the case. It's good around grass, sure, but if you do get grass on it (you will if you fish around it) it does not clear off easily with a twitch or rip of the rod like a trap or other cranks do. Still a good bait though.

From: Jason: Unknown 5/31/22

Comments: Cuts through the grass like butter. Great alternative to a bladed jig.

From: Todd: California 5/16/22

Comments: The plugs is a beast of a bait. I fish thru grass and hardwood here in South Texas. It has caught me many giants. I put it in my clients hands and they have no problem fishing it. It was a killer pre spawn bait this year!

From: Travis: Texas 5/10/22

Comments: Great crankbait! I had no trouble keeping it out of grass and weeds, it would lick the top and come back up. Perfect little wobble! Might be my new favorite crank?

From: David: Logan, West Virginia 5/6/22

Comments: Great lure whenever grass is present. Wether it's stained or clear water this bait has a unique sound and wobble.

From: Garrie: Missouri 5/3/22

Comments: This is not a crankbait, Ok maybe it is but it's not just a crankbait. Go watch Todd Castledine's videos about this thing and if you use it right it will produce. This is not a bounce on the bottom type bait, it fills a void for those fish that are feeding up and it works very well in more situations than I thought it would. It's amazing in grass, but I live in the Ozarks and we have very few lakes with grass and I've caught them on multiple lakes without grass this season. Bottom line, it's ugly, but it works, you just have to fish it enough to figure it out.

From: Dwain: AR 5/2/22

Comments: Great crankbait for covering water, especially over the top of submerged grass. The junior size seems to get the call more than the big one, but the junior has still produced good size fish. Great bait so I own a whole box full of them.

From: John: Dothan, AL 4/20/22

Comments: The Hybrid Hunter seems to cast well on both casting and spinning rods. It works well over submergent grass beds and outer weed lines. Good color combinations.

From: Bud: Plant City, Fl. 3/28/22

Comments: Killer crankbait has a great hunting action fishes over grass really good jr. size matches forage where i live perfect !!!

From: Kevin: Lake George, NY 3/25/22

Comments: I had read about and watched several videos of this bait prior to purchase. I used bait in Florida and it was great. It glides just above the submerged grass. Bait holding up fantastic after several good bass.

From: Mike: Newnan, GA 3/9/22

Comments: I have probably 15 of these. Have caught a few fish on them but, have never had a great day. Mainly because it wasn't the perfect situation. The quality of these baits are great and they run true. The perfect scenario is when the grass is submerged much like fishing a trap style bait. It rips free of the grass very well and I think this is where the bait shines. Looking forward to catching a big sack on them. It's just a matter of time

From: Randy: Bryan, TX 2/16/22

Comments: Very different action from a normal crankbait, same great colors from Strike king , should've called it hydrilla hunter

From: Jim: Louisiana 2/15/22

Comments: Great lure for fishing around grass. Good hooks. Paint job took a beating and I did manage to have a lip crack on one of them rendering it useless. I would use the bigger size. For sure going to keep one tied on.

From: Scott: Austin, TX 2/11/22

Comments: Great bait to add to your arsenal. Love the depth range based on retrieve speed. Caught a lot of fish in the fall over submerged grass beds. Very effective bait.

From: Kevin: Rockwood, TN 12/29/21

Comments: What a cool bait. This was the first crank I purchased with this unique shaped bill and was surprised how well it does it's thing. Love the depth range and the action achieved with different retrieve speeds. I didn't get this one until the waters had already cooled significantly and haven't used it much but did get a small fish sitting on a little rock pile in a sun warmed cove. Look forward to having this bait tied on this spring when the water warms and the fish get hungry and active.

From: Unknown: 12/23/21

Comments: Really caught a lot of bass on it the first time out. Have not had another chance to go again. Love the action of it.

From: Unknown: 12/21/21

Comments: It works like advertised. Used in grass and it comes through the grass really well with no hang-ups and it catches fish.

From: Alan: Kinsport, TN 11/18/21

Comments: I really like these baits and they do everything as advertised. They cast great, swim great, and get bit. They do seem to excel in the grass especially when you want to throw something moving other than a bladed jig or a lipless crankbait. I would love to see some good bluegill colors and some more translucent colors as well.

From: Wade: Idaho 11/12/21

Comments: Absolutely outstanding this hybrid hunter it backs up just like a wood crankbait . And it also stays in the strike zone in other words when you pull it through the water it's not coming up higher like other cranks do . And it doesn't dig down it travel's straight forward . This bait is very unique I'm not a strike king guy but this bait is great give it a try .

From: Michael: Fair Play, MO 11/10/21

Comments: Bought this because of a strike king video and honestly it works! I use it around cover and grass edges. Hooks are good (still change them if you want) the bait itself feels quality made. The colors are great and the action is great. I use 12lb floro and a 7'0 ft m/h rod.

From: Kenny: Charleston, SC 10/19/21

Comments: This is an excellent crankbait. It runs perfect out of the box and stays down at the same level.

From: Scott: Plano, TX 10/16/21

Comments: This is an excellent crankbait. I am not a great fisherman by any means. I am a novice of that. One of my employees recommended the strike king hybrid hunter and I bought several different ones. I really like the clear minnow. They are outstanding and I caught several 3lb - 5lb the first day I used them in the late summer with water temp at 78 degrees on a 100' deep lake. If I can do it, anyone can with these crankbaits.

From: Unknown: 10/15/21

Comments: I recieved my hybrid hunters and went to New York 3 days later. Fished the weed beds, caught pike and bass and very few hangups in the weeds. If any the jerked free. I am very happy with them.

From: Roger: Pennsylvania 10/12/21

Comments: It works!! Somewhat erratic-wide wobble, does not sink much, loud rattle just draws them in. First time out caught some nice bass working weed edges. Guess I am just going to have to pickup a few more.

From: JC: Illinois 10/11/21

Comments: Excellent bait for shallow water fishing in and around wood and vegetation. I most often you this in tidal river waters and impoundment situations. An excellent addition to my 1.5 cranks.

From: Bob Ward: Laurel, MS 9/18/21

Comments: Great crank when fishing the weed/grass flats 3-6ft in the CA Delta.  It works well when you vary speeds as it has a gradual and flat dive... sometimes i just pump it, pause, pump, pause and feel for the weed tops. I've caught on Delta Red, Chartreuse/Black Back, and Smooth.  I also have both sizes and like the Jr, but my Chart/Blk Back is full size hunter and I just don't reel it too fast at first; it has caught some, not as many as my Jr sizes though.  They seem easier for me to work and control over and through the vegetation.  That's just me... others may prefer the larger full size for bigger fish but I've caught 4, 5, and 6 lbers on the Jr's... I like this crank.

From: Nate: Folsom 9/11/21

Comments: My favorite sneaky bait shhhh! it flat catches em! Ive caught my PB on it and ive caught huge numbers of bass. They seem to eat it really good getting both hooks usually one in each side of the mouth. Love it

From: Laramy: Unknown 9/7/21

Comments: Excellent tool for tidal river use. In and around vegetation, trees, etc. Both regular and junior in gold/black have been very successful. Am also finding this useful on local impoundments, as well as, tidal waters. Love my square bill 1.5's but this L-bill is terrific in even shallower water situations. A must have addition for me.

From: Bob: Laurel, DE 9/5/21

Comments: Beautiful crankbait like always from strike king! Looks just like old school creek chub lures!! Bought more already!

From: Mark: Flinton, PA 9/4/21

Comments: I've only had a chance to use this new lure once & it did not disappoint me. I was very impressed with the hooks , while battling a 4 plus pound spotted bass . The fish jumped several times , but there was no need to worry, as those hooks held firm. Seems like every fish I caught that day was hooked solid. And I can't say enough about the action of this lure, either . It reminded me of when I first tied on a 1.5 Strike King square bill. And , considering we were fishing on a tough day to begin with...yeah , I've bought several more of these lures , in different colors, and can't wait to try them out. And one other important thing about this lure.....the weight. A lot of crankbaits look good, and some even have great action....but a lot of them are just too light in weight to throw far, but the Hybrid Hunter is like throwing a nice , deep running Crankbait, and distance is very important in fishing a crankbait , as it is much heavier than most crankbaits of it's size!

From: Unknown: 8/27/21

Comments: Haven't had a chance to use this a lot but caught fish both times I did fish it. Great action, doesn't sink at all when it hits the water and extra loud rattling what else would you want. Already have the juniors and waiting on my next order of the full size.

From: Stephen: Illinois 8/26/21

Comments: This bait is awesome and can be fished several different ways. It ticks the top of the grass quite well and seems to be easy to clear if it gets some grass on it. It has a loud rattle and and a wide wobble. The fish I caught on it really crushed it and had both hooks every time. I would recommend giving this bait a try if you like fishing grass.

From: Wade: Ohio 8/20/21

Comments: Nice bait that does a good job bouncing off wood. I have not fished it yet around grass areas. The sounds created by the rattles should be helpful. Especially in the muddy to stained waters I fish a lot.

From: Steve: Unknown 8/18/21

Comments: This thing is absolutely amazing. The first day I used it I was pulling Large Mouth out of the reservoir left and right. I used a slow retrieve and the bass were killing it.

From: Unknown: 8/18/21

Comments: These crankbaits are EXACTLY what I wanted and NEEDED! Cranking above the hydrilla is a breeze and I can adjust the depth by the speed of the bait! Hooks are big enough to keep these crazy Florida bass buttoned-up!

From: Unknown: Magnolia, AR 8/16/21

Comments: I waited for awhile before the Hybrid Hunter was available, but when I took them out for the first time I caught a limit of bass on three different colors. I like the way it runs. It doesnât run to deep because the lakes where I live are shallow and stumpy. Great crankbait.

From: Unknown: Magnolia, AR 8/16/21

Comments: My fishing is confined to tidal rivers and small impoundments; but, in both scenarios the Hybrid Hunted and junior have proven to been an excellent lure. Fast, stop and go or moderate retrieves all work well. The bait is designed to be erratic, just add a little help of your own choice. Other colors have worked for me as well.

From: Bob: 8/15/21

Comments: I bought one of the small and one of the big versions.  I've only tried fishing with the small version. Great action, though I haven't caught anything on it yet.

From: PJ: 8/15/21

Comments: The Sweet Shad Jr. worked well for me on Lake Champlain in spring and early summer. Any time the White Perch were around both Large and Small Mouth Bass liked it. Unfortunately the Northern Pike took a liking as well. I lost a couple to the big toothy critters.

From: Unknown: 8/14/21

Comments: Great bait through the weeds. Seems to be fairly weedless. Both bass and unfortunately northern (it's cost me a couple) like it. Color choices allow for a range from clear to muddy water.

From: Unknown: Frankfort, IL 8/14/21

Comments: Exceptional Crank bait in shallow water. It really does weave its way through the grass. This crankbait has been a game changer for my arsenal.

From: Rex: Everglades, GL 8/14/21

Comments: I really love the action on these lures, a lot better than the strike king square bills!

From: Douglas: Lewiston, PA 8/12/21

Comments: Love these lures. Great action, really feel the bottom structure, doesn't hang up as often. Lots of bites.

From: Unknown: 8/12/21

Comments: Love these little suckers. Started catching fish immediately and great for fishing above the weeds. Grandson landed his biggest bass ever the first day we used them. The Bully color and Delta Red have produce a lot of bites for us so far. GREAT lure.

From: Travis: Antioch, CA 8/7/21

Comments: Big fish love it

From: Unknown: 6/14/21

Comments: Do Not Buy. This bait has been proven to be harmful to the health of largemouth as they cannot resist eating it and getting a face full of treble hooks. This bait does really well banging off of wood, which was surprising given its bill shape, although I have had better luck thus far when covering water in grass flats.

From: JF: Houston, TX 3/15/21

Comments: I got the Bully, Chart Perch, and Blue Craw and they all caught fish.  This crank works great on grass flats in 3-5 feet as well as tule points with grass and weedbeds.  It tracks just fine and also worked pretty good on stop/go retrieves.  Still waiting on my fav color, Delta Red, but all these other colors proved that throwing something different than your fav can still trigger the strikes!  Great crankbait!

From: Nate: Folsom 3/9/21

Comments: Great bait...Castledine was right on this one!!
