So close….When I saw they were coming out with an updated, heavier duty EVO, I was stoked! Finally, a no-nonsense hook in a chatterbait fishing shallow grass on Okeechobee and targeting snakeheads in SoFlo canals that we can fish on 65lb braid. Unfortunately, probably due to the heavier hardware, these run quite a bit deeper than the original EVOs. It just runs too deep for those applications we’d fish a HD chatterbait in. Maybe if Z-Man came out with a 1/4oz version for us shallow water grass fisherman… that would an excellent option! But until something changes, I’ll stick with the EVO elites.

Standard is as good if not better.All this stuff about the new welded snap and beefier hook just seem so gimmicky to me. The old evo was perfect honestly, I have owned 8 or even more and never had a problem with them. If it ain't broke don't fix too honestly.

EVO HD ChatterbaitOutstanding Chattrrbait with the features I was looking for. I fish Central and South FL and needed a Chatterbait I could fish on straight braid through heavy cover and this is it! I always had to change the line tie clips out before, not anymore, the welded D ring takes care of that. Great heavy duty coated hook for the bruiser bass, Snake heads and Peacocks down here. HD iand the Tungston EVO are the only Chatterbait I will fish now. Great Job Z man!

Not like the old ChatterbaitLooks great, but, these new ones swim too deep and at an unnatural downward angle. I feel them dragging the bottom instead of swimming.
No bites on any after 40 hours.

Looks good yesNice colors & quality components but the sound is very tin-can' ish and didn't catch anything on it yet. Worth a try, however I think the jackhammer is better.

Swims deeper for longer than the EvoI use Evos everyday, I’m fishing South Florida canals everyday. No matter how high I lift my rod tip or how fast I burn it, it just swims about a foot deeper. The ability to make it swim just below the surface is gone. I did extensive testing. You can’t burn this thing over the tops of the weeds like the Evo. It’s great if you’re fishing deeper water I guess, but I’m in 2 to 3 feet of water it just stays down deeper all the way back to the bank. This it catches tons more weeds. Fished the HD a mile up a canal and then the Evo a mile back, I did this 5 different spots.

Would Recommend
Best on the MarketThis actually surpassed the Jackhammer in my eyes. Goes through grass with ease and thumps harder due to the new clip. Will slowly replace my Jackhammers with these at least for the 3/8oz. Cant imagine the 1/2oz being much different.
