Banks Shaw mined a shallow offshore shad spawn and deeper schools for his weight.
For his shad spawn, a Scottsboro Tackle Top Hook Swimbait and a 3/4-ounce Z-Man Evergreen ChatterBait JackHammer in golden shiner got the call. He also used a minnow on his shad spawn areas and deeper schools, and his selection included a Rapala CrushCity Freeloader.

2nd Place - Jake Lawrence - 67lb - 15oz - $30,000
For Jake a scrounger was his go-to. He did most of his work on the first and last days with a minnow, usually on a 1/4-ounce head and with a prototype 7-foot, 6-inch minnow rod from Dobyns.
3rd Place - Jacob Walker - 67lb - 15oz - $20,500
Walker's primary bait was a 3/4-ounce Davis Baits Shaky Fish outfitted with the bill from a 1-ounce, long-bill Davis Baits Shaky Fish. He also used a 1/2-ounce Davis Baits Elite Shaky Fish in the stock configuration. Walker used 20-pound Sunline Shooter and a 7-foot, 4-inch Phoenix Virtus Blue Diamond football jig rod to present his scrounger.
4th Place - Kyle Cortiana - 62lb - 6oz - $18,000
Cortiana used a Willie Pete's Lil Willie glide bait and a 5-inch YUM FF Sonar Minnow on a 1/4-ounce Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp Pro-V Eagle Eye Jig. He used Kister rods and reels for both setups and really used Lowrance ActiveTarget 2 to his advantage on the days it was allowed.
5th Place - Jimmy Washam - 59lb - 10oz - $17,000
Jimmy's best baits were an Azuma Square Boss in hot mess and a 1/2-ounce ball head jig with a craw trailer. To crank, he used 12-pound Sunline Sniper with a 7.1:1 Bates Salty Hundo and a 7-3, medium-heavy Hammer Rods Elite Series cranking rod. He used a 7-3, heavy stick from Hammer Rods for the jig. Additionally, Washam plied a minnow some, as well as a deeper-diving crankbait and football jig.
6th Place - Colby Miller - 59lb - 4oz - $16,000
Miller's baits of choice were a 5/8-ounce Epic Baits Grass Punch Jig with a craw trailer and a Neko-rigged Berkley PowerBait MaxScent Magnum Hit Worm with a 3/32-ounce Epic Baits Nail Weight. He used Edge rods and Abu Garcia Zenon reels across the board, with 20-pound Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon for his jig and a 15-pound Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon leader for his worm.
7th Place - Andrew Nordbye - 59lb - 0oz - $15,000
His weapons of choice were a 1/4-ounce shaky head with a Strike King Finesse Worm and a 5-inch Strike King Z-Too on a 3/16-ounce Valor Baits Targeting Jig. For the worm, he used a 7-3, medium-heavy Lew's Mach 2 and 17-pound P-Line Tactical. For his minnow, he used 10-pound P-Line EndurX with a long leader of 12-pound P-Line Tactical.
8th Place - Ken Thompson - 57lb - 11oz - $14,000
Ken used either a Neko-rigged Berkley PowerBait MaxScent Magnum Hit Worm with a 1/8-ounce weight or a drop-shot with a Z-Man Scented Jerk ShadZ or a Berkley PowerBait MaxScent Hit Worm. Shallow, he plied a homemade buzzbait with a Strike King Rage Bug and a Missile Baits D Bomb on a 5/16-ounce Texas rig.
9th Place - Lane Olson - 55lb - 10oz - $13,000
Olson used a 6-inch Roboworm Straight Tail Worm in Aaron's morning dawn on an Owner Cover Shot Hook with a 1/4-ounce weight. For cover-related fish, a Rapala CrushCity Freeloader or a 5-inch Deps Sakamata Shad got the call, both thrown on a 1/8-ounce Owner Range Roller. He threw the drop-shot on an Edge 702 ISR and the minnow on an Edge 673 Pro Stroll rod.
10th Place - Levi Thibodaux - 55lb - 4oz - $12,000
Levi Thibodaux stayed hot, this time relying on a frog and jerkbait. His jerkbait of choice was a Megabass Vision 110+1 Jr. in mat shad, and his frog was a SPRO Bronzeye 65 in sexy shad. He threw both on Zook rods.
