Overview

For more than a half a century the Heddon Spook has been arguably the finest topwater walk-the-dog lure available, and the benchmark by which all others are judged. Despite the countless copies, none have captured the lightning-in-a-bottle of the Spook. Now anglers can add another version of this fish-producing lure, the Heddon Chug'n Spook. Featuring a cupped mouth that expels a tremendous amount of water, the Chug'n Spook still walks-the-dog with ease, creating that hypnotizing action that predator fish can't resist. Delivering the versatility of two lures in one, the Heddon Chug'n Spook is a must have bait for all topwater enthusiasts.

Comments: Purchased 2 Chug'n Spooks for early morning point fishing on my local TN lake. These lures cast a mile, and the larger profile really helps the deeper holding fish find the target. I switched out the stock trebles with Daiichi trebles. This topwater will work well for pike/musky, red fish, or salt water game fish.

Comments: I purchased 2 of the larger size Chug'n Spooks for power fishing topwater season. These lures cast a mile and the larger profile attracts fish from deeper water. The main drawback to the larger Chug'n Spook are the unbuttons. Just like larger crankbaits, there's so much plastic that is outside the fish's mouth that lrgmth/smlmth can throw these lures if you don't keep their heads down during the fight. I switched out the stock trebles for Daichi trebles to help with hook sets. I still think the positives outweigh the negatives for the Chug'n spook. These lures get fish to the top. The larger Chug'n Spook would work well for pike and musky.

Comments: I got the Jr version.  Very little splash.  When jerked hard, it tended to somersault.  I saw a fish churning about 10 yards away.  I quickly cast the chug'n spook to the ripples and tried popping it.  It moved forward too far and was quickly out of the strike zone.  I returned mine.  Sticking with KVD splashes.

Comments: great bait, casts a country mile an then some!walks with ease. big fish love it!

From: Marc: Florida / Mass

Comments: Love this thing! It is bigger than the usual super spook jr. So I threw it this morning and caught a five pounder and two 3 pounders and a couple of more dinks. It casts a mile and is the loudest thing on earth especially because of the one knocker system and the chugger lip. Awesome bait!

Comments: been a spooker for 30 years, this bait is way to HEAVY! will break your wrist to work it right. lighten this iron horse up and they might have a winner. needs alot of tweaking.

Comments:  At a full ounce, and with it's cylindrical shape and One Knocker rattle system... This product casts farther than just about any topwater lure on the market... It also walks the dog as well if not better than the original Spook... It is very simple to start up and has a decently wide zig-zag pattern on a snap retrieve...  HOWEVER, The Chug'n Spook was designed to have all the above properties like the Original Zara Spook with the added feature of being a spitting bait as well... Sadly it fails as a chugger... The mouth-cup is deep and appears as though it would throw alot of water... However it does not and I believe this is due to the width to depth ratio of the mouth-cup... That being said I do believe the deep-cupped mouth does however help improve the walking action and ease of use of this bait... The hooks and components are stout... The finish is as amazing as usual... and the overall make up of the bait feels solid and looks great... This is a great topwater lure for bass and other species of freshwater predator fish... As well as light saltwater duty for Reds, Snook, or Small Tarpon...Overall I love this lure... But mostly because of it's size and ability to walk... That being said I would definitely recommend it as an alternative to the Super Spook and other topwater baits... However if I want a walking bait that spits I will just use rod tip and retrieve techniques to walk another more traditional pencil shaped popper.

Comments: This will be my go to topwater this season! It. Combinds all of the best characteristics of a spook and a popper in one solid bait. Unlike normal spooks this one actually gets better in wind and chop, it creates a commotion like I have never seen in a topwater plug Now for the bad, it is big and heavy! I throw it on a 7ft medium heavy baitcaster and it almost feels overwhelmed by the bait. Also the hooks on the belly are a real pain to change. Overal this is a winner!
