Overview

Smaller than its big brother, but just as lethal, the Jackall Gantarel Jr. delivers all of the innovative features and lifelike detailing as the original – now in a downsized package that appeals to fish of all sizes. Segmented for an ultrarealistic movement, the Jackall Gantarel Jr. delivers a smooth S-shaped swimming action that stimulates predacious instincts. Able to perform 180-degree turns with a sharp jerk, the Jackall Gantarel evokes reflex-driven reaction strikes from cautious followers.

Constructed with a number of subtle, yet innovative features, the Jackall Gantarel Jr. is built with a swiveling line-tie and swiveling hook hangers, which reduce line twists and limit a fish’s ability to use the lure as leverage during a fight. At the chin, the Jackall Gantarel Jr. features an extra hanger that allows anglers to fine-tune the rate-of-fall with the addition of a weight.

On each side, molded pectoral fins work to enhance stability and cause the lures to dive at a realistic angle. For quick-and-easy trailer hook attachment, the Jackall Gantarel Jr. is fitted with a perforation molded into the tail design. Offered in some of the most realistic finishes on the market, the Jackall Gantarel Jr. is a must-have for any serious trop hy hunter.

Best Swimbait I Have Ever UsedThis bait suspends great in northern waters and is so realistic. I have caught bass over 6 pounds, numerous pike over 30", and even muskie. This is my go-to swimbait. Highly recommend.

Previous Feedback

Comments: This bait gets CHOKED. I bought the RT spawn gill, changed out the hardware (personal preference), and threw it on a 7'2" medium heavy combo. For 40 bucks I am glad that it floats. The bait swims well. Although, I did lose a wing, so I broke the other off and carried on. Stuck a 20" smallmouth, a 17" largemouth, and 14" largemouth. Solid bait that doesn't need a designated rod and reel combo.

Comments: I bought this bait over a year ago and literally never threw it. a week ago I was out on the lake throwing 9 and 10-inch glide baits without anything. After 7 hours of nothing I picked this up, took 3 casts, and stuck a 9 pounder! Just because they're made by a big company and not handmade doesn't mean these aren't amazing. They flat out catch fish and I'm a believer now. Be aware though yes the fins can break off. The first one I bought had the fins break off which is why I bought a second one thinking it wouldn't swim right anymore (also why I took so long to ever throw the second one). My first one has no fins now and swims perfect, just swims little shallower. But this bait is worth every penny.

Comments: **Update 3/16/21**Had a fin break off of a Gantarel Jr. after only a day of fishing. If you contact Shimano (their distributor), they will replace it. This is a company that stands by their product and has excellent customer service. Buy with confidence!

**Original Review**I love the original Gantarel, but this really does well on days when they won't quite to commit to the bigger version. I used it recently right after that nasty cold front hit TX and temps had been in the single digits just a few days before. The bite was really tough, but they were killing this thing. Works great with a lot of different retrieve styles, but a simple stop and go seems to work best. You can add a little weight and let it suspend for longer pauses, like a jerkbait in cold water. Half the bites I get are just letting it sit in place after a few turns of the reel handle. When the water warms up it works great with a burn/stop retrieve. It comes with decent stock hardware too. It's a fun bait to fish and is worth every penny.

Comments: Caught some 4lbs with it but pretty mad the side fin that allows it to dive deeper fell off from just casting it and I'm pretty mad I gotta buy another one.

From: Julian - 10/28/20

Comments: i have never had a bait that looked & acted more real than this one does in the water.

From: Paul: Delaware 9/7/20

Comments: I love these swimbaits, they are very versitile, you can twitch them and they do a very nice 180. They float so they stay out of weeds and cover very well. I slayed the slaunches on this in the springtime. I like the scale bass color the best, I have the matte gill, impact gill, and the scale gill, all of which work great.

From: Tommy: Kansas 12/13/19

Comments: Top line tie broke on mine the first day I used it, but Jackall has phenomenal customer service and sent a replacement. Would highly recommend this bait, great around spawning bass.

From: Unknown: 6/13/19

Comments: Just purchased this bait and I have to say the overall quality is great. Swims beautifully and works as designed the rotational hooks are a must and the fact that you can fine tune it makes it all the better, You can definitely tell alot of thought was put into the design of this bait and it shows. Will definatly be purchasing this bait in more color patterns.

From: Dave: CA 6/12/19

Comments: The bait swims great and looks great but one major problem I keep having is that the front treble hook gets hung up on the side fin when I cast or try to work the bait. I'm not sure if I just got a bad model or if they all do that but I know the regular gantaral doesn't have that problem even if you try. Please fix this.

From: Unknown: 4/6/19

Comments: Bought 1 of these baits and within 1.5 months the line tie cracked off the bait. I contacted the company and they were great about fixing the problem. I got a new one and the fin fell off within another 2 months. I'm not overly rough on my gear and both baits fell apart way too soon.

Comments: Just caught three fish on this bait today. Insane action, great for sight fishing.

From: Flynn - Chestertown, NY 10/6/18

Comments: The action on this thing is amazing. This does not sink very fast at all, it probably sinks about 1 inch per second. I haven't got bit yet but that's probably because my pond is full of dinks

From: Benmc123: Ohio 8/28/18

Comments: Just got one of these in and the action blew my mind. Still too cold here for this bite to really turn on, but I can't wait to catch one on this swimbait. Swims great at faster speeds, it'll turn completely around with a good twitch, and I don't think you can fish it too slow. Waking it SUPER slow on the surface looks exactly like a barely alive bluegill... easy pickins for a big bass!

From: Matt: TN 2/2/18

Comments: unreal nigh fishing bait, toss it in crank a couple times and then small twitches, i had a 4.6 hit this harder than any bit I've ever felt

From: Dog: MA 10/26/17

Comments: GREAT Bait! One of my favorite swimbaits for northern strain bass where they eat sunfish. I use the RT Ghost Gill pattern. Catches a lot of fish and BIG fish.

From: Marco Caetano: Portugal 10/26/17

Comments: Bought this bait as a first time swimbait user. This is the perfect beginner bait because it hands down just catches fish. Caught 13 three pounders on it in 2 days of fishing and instantly bought another just to have one extra. This bait is well worth the price and should definitely be added to your lure mix.

From: Jake: East Haven, CT 10/10/17

Comments: Amazing bait! This lure has crazy action and can be fished as a wake bait or a couple feet under the surface. Do yourself a favor and buy a couple.

From: Joseph: Henniker NH USA 9/1/17

Comments: Great bait! You won't find another hard swimbait with this level of realism and quality for this price. The two different line ties make it more versatile. I'd say this bait is a cross between a wakebait (like a MS Slammer), a  glide bait (like a S-Waver) and a double jointed bait (like a BBZ-1). I love the RT Ghost Gill Color. Looks SOOO realistic in the water!

From: Marco: Portugal 6/30/17

Comments: This bait is awesome and definitely worth the 32 dollars. It has two different line ties, the one on top is so it dives and the one on bottom makes it run like a wake bait, the pectoral fins are functional so it has a nice swimming action. Like the other review says, absolutely anything will eat this bait. I've caught bass as small as 1/2 pound and muskies up to 50 inches

From: Robert - Westminster, MA 1/1/17

Comments: Absolutely amazing bait! Not as big as the standard Gantarel, which means you tend to catch more fish of varying size. Everything from 1/2 ponders to 7 ponders will eat this bait. This thing is absolutely deadly around lay downs & on large flats. Swim it and pause, give it a few twitches and it looks exactly like a dying bluegill. The paint job is petty durable and won't flake off like other brands. The only downside is that this thing can be a little difficult to cast sometimes & certainly isn't quiet when it lands. I'm personally not a fan of the dressed stock hooks it comes with so I changed them out for some sharper more durable hooks. However, I've caught more big bass on this lure than any other and would definitely recommend buying some. This is one of the few lures I'll go swimming after.
