Second chanceAfter my first rod broke because of a snag I debated if I should pay the replacement fee or if I should just go with some other brand. Considering some of my other rod brands I have had for years. I decided to pay the replacement fee and give this rod another shot. If it breaks again I will not pay the replacement fee. I will just forgo this company. Which makes me sad. I am trying to go more towards American made. I am hoping this rod will last me many years so I can be proud of this American made rod.
Ferrari of bfs rodsFirst bass I caught on it was a 3 pounder and the rod operated as designed. Has perfect action for my specific techniques. Very high end quality and comfort. Highly recommend.
BFS Flipping?I was looking for a BFS rod to use with single hook presentations - Texas rig, shakey head, jigs - and this perfectly fit the bill. I definitely feel better about using a full hook-set with this rod than my other BFS setups.
Weird carbon fiber grip, tiny micro guidesI didn’t like the carbon fiber grip. It was a bit jagged at the boundaries. Also the micro guides were a no go for me because I use braid to fluro leader. I don’t have the rod anymore.
Cashion Icon BFS 7' liteThis rod works great with BFS jerkbaits and smaller crankbaits. It is sensitive and very light to throw with all day. Don't hesitate to spend the $$$$ for this rod or any Cashion Icon for that matter. A new one keeps popping up the deck.
7 foot Light - and its "true" actionThe 7 foot Light is a great rod - but the action is not "fast." It's more of a moderate-fast or "regular." It is excellent with small BFS crankbaits and very fun to fish with. The rod became well-known by the Tactical Bassin guys, nice job. But where I disagree with them, is that the more moderate action does NOT work well with the Karashi lure. Too noodly to get the right action IMO.
7' Light FastMy review is for the 7' Light fast action rod in this series. Using mine for BFS fishing. I have it paired with an Ark Gravity BFS reel. Previously had a Shimano Curado BFS reel on it, didn't like the performance and I'm now very happy with the Ark. Do yourself a favor and get an Ark Gravity, much better breaking system and way easier to dial in and cast lighter lure way further. Now the rod itself is a great performer, it's light, sensitive and balanced. It's tailored to your treble hook BFS lures, but I haven't had an issue using it with single jig hook lures. Honestly, you won't need the Medium light unless you're fishing weedless. The grip is a little on the fatter side, which is good if you have larger hands. I'm not the biggest fan of the material being used for it, which I believe is a mix of carbon fiber and fiberglass. I prefer cork, but it's not bad. My one and only gripe about the rod is the reel seat. It's your typical old school Fuji and lock nut. Which is ok and comfortable, but at this price range I'd like to see a custom reel seat with a higher end (JDM) "look" and a lock nut that covers all the threads. It's hard to find a good BFS rod that doesn't cost a fortune, so this rod beign made in the USA ticks all the boxes. I hope Cashion continues to make rods here in the USA, and as an American company I hope to see them come out with some custom components on their rods to really pull in customers instead of using basic parts every chinese company produces in mass.
7’ LightThis rod is so much fun to fish with. It’s like fishing with a pool noodle which makes catching smaller fish more fun. Besides the fun aspect, this rod is amazing. It’s definitely softer than I expected but that makes it great for throwing karashi’s and jackall risers for spotted bass. I have it paired with a Shimano Curado BFS and 7lb Daiwa Hidden Flouro. If you want the best rod for throwing tiny treble hooks baits, this is the one. Thanks to Matt and Tim from TacticalBassin for the recommendation.
It’s greatI have the 6’10 and I love it it’s a great rod I love it for the little tiny jigs chatterbaits Karashi’s and little cranks.
7’ LightThis rod is awesome! I have this rod paired up with a Curado bfs and 7lb daiwa hidden fc flouro. I’ve been throwing little 3” easy shiners and 2.8” keitechs on mini underspins on this thing and crushing them. Can’t wait to start throwing karashi’s and other little topwaters when the water warms up!
