Overview

Exemplary tools for slinging your favorite jerkbaits, the Cashion ICON Topwater Jerkbait Casting Rods were designed with the ideal specifications to throw and work even lightweight jerkbaits with ease. While jerkbaits are traditionally difficult to toss with casting gear, Cashion built these rods with an extremely fast tip and precisely parabolic taper perfect for launching rip baits, even into a headwind. In addition to the meticulously designed action, the blank also boasts a uni-directional construction allowing anglers to feel every subtle bite or piece of cover their lure encounters.

The precision blanks are outfitted with a Microguide train for exceptional line management, unbeatable casting distance, and incredible accuracy. Boosting angler appeal are Cashion’s exclusive carbon fiber split grip handles which not only feel great in the hand, but they are also more durable than cork or foam. The ultra-dense handles and exposed blank reel seats combine to provide maximum sensitivity giving anglers a positive experience on the water. An excellent solution to the challenge of throwing jerkbaits on a casting outfit, the Cashion ICON Topwater Jerkbait Casting Rods will take your rip bait game to the next level.

Comments: I have the 6'9" MH. It is perfect for my style of jerk bait fishing. I also have a ST. Croix Mojo 6'8" Medium XF. Between these 2 rods it's a no competition in my opinion. The Cashion is far and above superior. It requires less effort to cast and work a 1/2 oz. jerk bait. It's lighter and paired with a 150 or 70 size curado it's perfect for me. Don't sleep on these if you're thinking about it just do it. I've already purchased several other of the ICON series and will continue to do so until I have completely switched out my rod arsenal. I'm even thinking of trying some of their Element series for pond hopping.

Comments: I bought a 6'9" medium heavy for all purpose jerkbait and topwater use. Its slightly on the heavier side weight wise compared to a st croix or dobyns, but it so ridiculously well balanced that the rod practically works itself, giving very little fatigue despite its weight ( which is still not bad at all). It has a great extra fast tip for working small to regular size poppers with just enough spring into the backbone to work jjerkbaits and keep big fish pinned. I happened to throw a popper under a mulberry tree and a 12lb carp actually ate it and this thing was bent all the way over and had no trouble at all handling that fight. Very impressed and for the price i give it a 9/10

Comments: I have two of the Medium 6'9" rods. I use them primarily to throw smaller jerkbaits up to and including the 110 size and spook type topwaters.  The rods do what very few can.  They are either extremely extremely fast action, or moderate depending on how you look at them.  When fully loaded, these rods will bend right on through down to through the backbone like a crankbait rod which is extremely useful when using #4 and smaller treble hooks.  This rod has enough tip to snap a small to medium jerkbait (110or 115 size would be my max) and enough flex to keep trebles pinned.  So in a way it is like a crankbait rod, but with a stiffer but very lightweight tip.  It is hard to explain how light they are in the tip.  The small guides and overall light weight of the rod. (4.4 ounces on my scale) make these an absolute pleasure to work all day. The microguides are very small and light. I use #30 braid and #12 or #20leader. With an FG knot I have no problems at all casting out the knot from the reel when using long leaders.

Comments: I bought the 6-9 MH Icon Jerkbait rod because I wanted a made in America rod that would be my primary jerkbait and pop-r rod. Pros- This rod is lightweight and the handle texture feels like it will never slip out of your hand. The tip is soft enough to be able to cast light lures on the bottom of the weight range. Cons- The rod is too flimsy to be a jerkbait rod. It is more like a crankbait rod. 1 The guides are tiny and it only has one 2 footed guide. I have other micro guide rods and these are by far the smallest guides. 2 The handle behind the reel seat is too short. It feels like my pinky is going to slip off of it during a cast. 3 The outside diameter of the blank in much smaller than other rods I own that are similar action. It feels fragile and I worry it would break while fighting a big bass.  I do not recommend this rod.

Comments: This rod is not what I thought it was going to be, its not what I like in a jerkbait rod, it has a very very soft tip. The blank reminds me of the Kistler "Feel and Reel" rod blanks which are good blanks but not for snapping a jerkbait. Its rated as a 6'9" Med. extra-fast tip but the rod bends all the way to the handle. I do believe this will make a great small crankbait rod but not so much a great jerkbait rod due to the softness off the blank.  I was hoping this rod would have the normal raw graphite blank that are use on the Cashion Elites. If you like a softer action on a jerkbait rod you will really like this rod. If you prefer a faster tip, not the rod for you.
