3/0 rig good, #1 rig 20 % land rateHave used for a couple of weeks now, size #1 rig used on Uni and landed 4 of 20 fish hooked if they jump you will lose them, 20% land rate. Size 3/0 rig used on 19mm Prickly Pear landed 3 of 4 hooked. I believe the gap between size #1 hook and weighting system is to small. Would recommend moving weight further up hook for better gap on #1 hook version. The 3/0 hook is good same size weight system as #1 hook with better gap on 3/0 hook. Barbed weight system does keep baits secure.
Great hook up ratioOnly lost one fish out of 9 that I hooked up on. Impressive hook!
Terrible hookBought 1 pack to try. All 3 hooks are crooked/bent from forming eye of hook. Worse part is actually the eye of hook, the connection point looks like they TRIED to weld eye closed but just melted wire and make a sharp corner that is guaranteed to break your line. At 15 bucks a bait I won't even risk using them. Waste of money, I can't believe how terrible these hooks are!
20% land rateHokked into 12 fish and was only able to land 3. They spit the hook out almost every time.
Mixed after first time outOut of the gate was getting bit almost every cast. Fishing around big rocks with multiple Spots eating. Missed the hook set on the first 2-3. Had another on and jumped out of the water and threw the hook. I don't think I fully set the hook. I had to slow my reaction and let them eat it not just hit it. Landed the last 4. Not sure if this is the ticket, or if there is a better way. I like the simplicity.
Poor hook up ratioI really wanted to love this but I was only able to land about 50% of the fish that I had on. I was using the #1-1/16 on a 17 mm Coike. I’m going to try it on the Yamamoto Uni, which is smaller and try the larger 3/0 version on 17 mm Coike.
Loses fishIt looks great and seems like a way to have more hook exposure but makes a lure have good action but I hooked like eight fish with it and I only landed one and one of the fish that I lost was the 7+ pounder and it gets hung up Non-Stop. I like the idea I just think it needs to be improved more. It also tears up your bait
Good but not greatHooked up with 5 bass on this yesterday, lost all of them. I’m not sure if it is the hook or what, the first one or two may have been my fault. After that I put the wood to them and they still were able to get loose. Love the concept but wish it was an attached to a treble.
After I rigged it myself with a treble and a cylinder weight through the middle I didn’t lose one fish.
Gives the bait an interesting actionThey do work but only so/so. Putting the weight up that high in the bait makes it roll over forward and block the hook when it comes upright. It does come through weeds pretty good. A decent option but the hookup could be better.
Great ProductI’ve tried many different ways to rig urchin style baits. They were all ok, it I would miss a lot of fish. This product works wonders. In one day caught multiple 2 lb bass, another 3.5 lb bass, and a 5 lb. I am really digging this rig.
