Overview

Designed specifically for the super finesse hover strolling technique, the Core Tackle Hover Rig is deadly when paired with forward facing sonar and targeting suspended fish. Built to create a slow fall and gliding action, the Core Tackle Hover Rig features lead poured along the shank of the hook and in front of the line tie. This distributes the weight throughout the soft plastic instead of being isolated at the head like a traditional jighead to create a more natural horizonal fall that glides side to side or spirals and absolutely drives fish crazy.

Maximizing efficiency and saving soft plastics as well, the Core Tackle Hover Rig is much faster and easier to rig than other hover stroll rigs that use a non-weighted jig hook and nail weight combination. It also reduces wear on your soft plastics so you can catch more fish per bait. Offered in a wide arrangement of sizes that pair with all sorts of finesse soft plastics, the Core Tackle Hover Rig is the ultimate jig head for hover strolling.

Never bent out eitherI gotta agree with the other review here that said they've never had a hook bend out. I've landed 5½ lb largemouths on Core's 1/O hooks and even that one didn't bend out. I can't say I've had the same luck with many other 1/O hooks with a fish larger than maybe 3lbs.

Super VersatileI just reordered a mess of these because I've been using them on every trip this summer. And not just bass will bite - I unintentionally caught a 37 inch, 11.75 lb Northern Pike Labor day weekend (6 lb test). The hook held tight and barely bent a little sideways. Also, I've put tubes, sticks, creatures, craws and minnows/dropshot on them and they all get bites - especially when the bite is hard (when a wacky doesn't even work).

Never Had A Hook Bend OutI’ve caught Tank Smallmouth on this jig Fishing with 5 to 15lb. Braid with a 8 to 10 lb. Fluorocarbon leader, and have never had a hook bend out, or issues with the hooks sharpness. Maybe the other reviewer got a bad batch. I would recommend using this Jig.

Well...I am not the smartest dude alive and even I can rig these correctly. The back of the package shows you how, in a picture. You don't even need to read any words! Oh, and they are a money saver. I would go through two packs of baits in a day before switching to these.

Be prepared for torn up baitsDon't know or understand what the secret is to rigging these but every bait but one has been torn trying to insert the weight. Various plastics from Keitech to Spunk Shads. If you like torn up baits then buy these.

OkNice to not have to run a nail weight or tie one to a hook, however I’ve been thru a few packs of these hooks and they all bend out on 6lb test with a ml spinning rod on 2lb fish. Hooks are sharp but go visibly dull after about 7-8 fish. Love the concept would love better hook though.

Great Even Without FFSI used 1/16 and 1/32 oz versions for trout fishing in December in Maryland. The lake was partially frozen and this was the only thing that the trout would bite. Had 3 inch flukes rigged on it. Tried small jerkbaits, crankbaits, and spinners to no avail. Gotta keep these on hand now when the bite is tough.

Overall, solidOverall, love Matt and Johnny so I had to try these out! I would say overall these work. Between these, jig hooks using a nail weight, and ballheads, I'd say ballheads take the cake for me. A big part of getting a bite mid-strolling is getting the bait to roll from side to side by popping your semi-slack line as you reel in the bait. (don't pop the bait pop the line) Baits just roll back and forth better on a ballhead
