Comments: 7'M-F: These are just my first impressions as I haven't gotten to take it out on the water yet. Once I do, I will update this review. First off, the appearance isn't the greatest. Orange and black with a bit of green just doesn't match a lot, but that doesn't matter all that much. Not a particularly light rod, but that's not an issue. Feels very well balanced with some good backbone and sensitivity. Reel seat is very comfortable and feels very natural in hand. Grips are great too. Guides are well-built and of adequate size for a leader knot to pass through.

Comments: 7ft Med.  After reading the reviews and looking for a 2nd drop shot rod to go with my Ducket Silverado 7ft Med, I took a chance on a Colt.  Of course I am going to compare the two!  Silverado is $99 and Colt was $79.  Both have identical Diawa Regal 2500 reels with 15lb Power Pro white braid with a 6lb Trilene FC leader, both about 10ft of fc.  #4 hook and 1/8th oz lead sinker and either a 4" keitech or Zman swimbait/dropshot plastic.  I have always used a 5 wrap Alberto knot and have never actually broken off at the knot.  As for the feel and action both are exceptional.  BUT, I certainly wish I would have bought another Silverado and here is why:  Two issues that I found really fast.  First the hook keeper is tight fitting to the rod butt.  After bending it out a bit, it is functionally ok.  Next and more important to me, you can certainly feel the knot going through the eyelets more on the Colt and occasionally it causes a hang up.  The hang up is actually on the reel spool.  It appears that the way the line comes off it creates this issue on the Colt but not the Silverado.  I am an avid drop shotter and use a 5 wrap Alberto.  That will not work with the Colt!  I guess the good news is that I am now learning the FG knot but it is definitely more work than the Alberto.  So, for me, I wish I would have spent the extra money for another Silverado.  But I am comparing a $79 rod to a $99 rod?  Hope this helps someone.  Perhaps the switch to the FG will ultimately be the equalizer??

Comments: This is the best rod for the price hands down. I got the 6ft 9 medium light and it handles 3+ like dinks. I had amazing sensitivity and I can feel every single pebble. This rod is the best under 100$ rod on the market

Comments: Love this rod....LOVE it. Feels good, responds even better. The only thing I would change is putting the hook loop forward of the reel, maybe its just me. Dobyns has a customer for life, or as long as the wife lets me.

Comments: have this paired up with a pflueger supreme XT and it is an amazing combo! use this for all of my finesse applications, and handled a 4.5 lb LMB with ease. I have the 7 ft medium and it is extremely light and more sensitive than I expected, yet not too flimsy. has plenty of backbone with a perfect tip with those subtle twitches of the bait when fishing. would reccomend to anyone!

From: Tyler: Valdosta GA 8/30/18

Comments: I believe I got my bang for my buck on this rod. It feels like a true quality rod that should last a long time for me. I've been fishing with this rod for about a month now and the only downside that I see on this rod is where you hook your lure. Why would they place this right by where you hold it? It just doesn't make any sense. I want to carry my rod and not worry about stabbing myself. I feel like this part of the design was poorly met.

Comments: There's a lot to say about this rod and to start it off, I'd say that it has exceeded my expectations. I purposely used shallow crankbaits on this spinning rod, and it has held up with no problem. My first impression was that it was durable rod but I didn't want to trust it yet because I haven't tested it. After coming back from a successful day of fishing (quantity & quality), I would recommend this rod because it feels like it could handle anything that I use it for. It's light to the hands, sensitive to the reaction strike that anyone would want, and has a strong backbone which supports what is put on it. For the bang of the buck, Dobyns Rods has done an excellent job at creating the best spinning rod at the price of $79.99. I highly recommend this rod and like others have said, this rod does not feel like an 80 dollar rod.

Comments: Bought 2 weeks ago. Second trip out and the 2nd guide from top insert chipped out. Dobyns wants $20-$30 to send in to be fixed. Local guy can put new guide on for $20. Either way with purchase of rod and having it fixed, I should have just bought the St croix bass x for $100. I'll be at that total now.

From: Dick: New Philidelphia 6/27/18

Comments: So far so good. I have been able to use the Rod on a couple of occasions since buying. My only complaint is the tip. I use the alberto knot for leaders and the knot seems to get stuck on the retrieve. I had to switch to the FG not. No big deal but as we all know the FG knot takes time to tie.

Comments: I got the rod (Spinning 6'9)in this past week and was able to try it out over the weekend. I am quite impressed. I LOVE the material the rod is made of.  It is VERY light and I thought my blackout rod was light. I wasn't able to catch anything big on it but did hook onto a good size white perch. As with most reviews, this rod doesn't feel like a sub 80 dollar rod. I would buy again and maybe a MH one.

Comments: Got the 7' M mainly for drop shot presentations. Really impressed especially for the price. The sensitivity is very good with plenty of backbone. Also run 10 pound braid and the eyes are holding up just fine. Very happy.
