Fantastic rod for the price!I bought the 845 CBR at the beginning of this year, now that I’ve had it a year of fishing with it I feel I can finally say how I feel about it. It’s an AMAZING rod in terms of action, which I expected being a loomis. I have an IMX Pro 843 CBR that I’ve had for years and have fallen in love with for my smaller squarebills (up to like a 1.5), I wanted the IMX pro 845 but was impossible to find at the time and I knew the GCX is still gonna be a good rod. No issues at all for me after a year of pounding on this rod. I used it mainly as a lipless rod for bottom hopping, but I also used it as a squarebill rod a fair amount and a deep crank rod as well a time or 2. My main (and really only) gripe with it is how short the handle is compared to the IMX pro, 13ish inches compared to I think 15ish, feels a little short to me even though I’m a short guy at 5’5”, so it’s a little awkward feeling for me personally. However I fish mainly from a kayak and the bank, and I can appreciate that shorter handle in tight quarters. I feel almost like I don’t have a full grip on it even though I know I do, just hard to describe. I may jinx myself but I’ve yet to lose a fish on this rod! I’d say if you can afford it spend the extra $110 and get the IMX pro since it’s more sensitive and a fair bit lighter, but if not I’m definitely not disappointed with my GCX. For $250 it’s hard to beat!
