Customer Reviews

Previous Feedback

Comments: The 820S is a great zero power rod. Zero power Loomis rods are very light, and super sensitive. These GCX spinning rods are really nice. I love the cork fore grip. I hold my hand with either my pinky behind the reel, or my whole hand in front of the reel so this is my favorite style foregrip. Super comfortable. The 820 is a great finesse rod-Neds, drop shot, tiny cranks, Rapala original minnows. Nice rod!

From: Sir Finesse: 3/11/23

Comments: Fantastic finesse rods. I have thrown hair jigs, snap jigs, small swimbaits, ned rigs, and of course, drop shots with this rod. Feather light and super sensitive. The line will get caught on the hook keeper occasionally, but far from a deal breaker. Would buy half a dozen more if I had the money!

From: Garrett: MO 12/23/22

Comments: The GCX wasn't as bad as I thought after seeing everyone's review - however there are great other options such as a Shimano Zodias. This GCX drop shot series is sensitive, and the blanks definitely feel strong and durable but the side hook keeper has gotten caught/tangled once when reeling in (windy day). Around this price range - It is placed respectively but there are many other great rods as well depending on individual needs and fishing style.

From: John: Portland, OR 8/25/22

Comments: I have an old 820 and this new one. The new one is terrible. It has no backbone at all. I had three pound fish bend the rod like they were 6 pound fish on the older version. I don't like the handle as the fore grip is longer now and the screw lock for the reel doesn't feel very robust. I was happy to see a hook keeper except it is an open wire and twice in three trips I have had my line caught up in the hook keeper by just reeling in line"braid". If it was a closed system it wouldn't be an issue. Not the same rod at all power wise as a 3/16 weight seems to be about max. I have not used a larger weight than that yet but the rod itself just feels much more like a noodle.
