One Of My Favorite Rods, PeriodThese B redesigns are super light, have all the actiond and powers a serious angler could need, but I still believe after hundreds of days a year on the water with them, the originals are better. The B series get a 4 star rating instead of 5 like the originals because they're not as durable; I've broken 2 and I've never broken an original. I USE my equipment but I'm also cognizant & mindful that'll they're not unbreakable... I'm also less than pleased with Shimano's warranty/customer service - what happened to them in that department..?! Back in 2016, I did some consulting for a guy who worked for Shimano & and he gave me a dozen coupons and I bought them all half off, maybe a little more... Lucky me, yes. I even use a couple Expride models for particular Muskie applications... These, my St. Croixs, and my higher-end Ducketts are my favorite rods ~ Peace for the NorthWoods of Wisconsin ~

Best RodsI’m normally an old school Lew’s and Dobyns type of guy. Decided to switch to the old Japanese stuff. And man is it better!! Nicest rod I’ve bought and just hit retirement so gonna get a few more. New Shimano fan from Gary.

Heavy-FastGreat rod for dragging a worm through hydrilla, super sensitive and strong. Feels light as a feather. Worth the money!

What happened to the craftsmanship? Not sure what’s going on with Shimano these days. My expride-A MH was an absolute beast. Took everything you could throw at it. After purchasing the B model I’ve had to replace 2 under warranty. First one the second to last eyelet came out of the resin. Second rod the tip snapped off while reeling in a 1lb bass in open water. Not sure I’d recommend this series anymore especially considering the price point.

Perfect versatilityBought the 7’2 MH as an all purpose rod. Mainly for swim jigs and texas rigs. Paired with my curado 70 it’s perfectly balanced. Very light and sensitive rod with tons of power. It does not have a very soft tip, but that is my preference. This rod also doubles as an inshore rod for sight fishing redfish. Live this rod and will be getting some more down the road.

Great Rod7'6" XXH. Has a mod fast tip and a ton of backbone, I got it as a punching rod. Lightweight but just slightly tip heavy not a problem. Very sensitive especially with a Bantam on it. It's hard to find info on the 7'6 XXH, in fact ALF calls it a swimbait rod but I disagree. The rod is labeled as Power Game on the reel nut and handle which is the same as what they put on the H and XH rods including the legendary 7'3" so that means it's intended for the pads and mats. For what it's worth I know that the 7'7" H and the 8' XXH are both labeled Swim & Big Bait. It's 75" when measured from end the reel threads to the tip. 3 guides are double footed. Weighs 5.1 oz

Fantastic rodsI own 2 Exprides currently, a 7’3XH frog rod and a 6’8M spinning rod, plan on getting a couple more still for sure. Phenomenal rods, I’ve used my frog rod here and there as a punching rod too, it does great for that and is extremely sensitive. I own everything from the old Daiwa Laguna rods all the way up to NRX+, these hit so far above their price point it’s unreal. Crazy light, crazy sensitive, and I’m crazy so I like crazy. These are STUPID crazy! If you can afford to make the jump to these go for it, you won’t be disappointed

Not what they used to be I guessInitial impression upon receiving my first Expride B series: the 72H A vs 72H B are two completely different rods. Really disappointed when the B arrived that its action is much faster. The action on the 72H A was special as are all the A series, I have 9-10 of them. The 72H B is run of the mill extra fast action that can be found in other line ups for much less money. I hope all the B series are not like this. It reminds me of going from an NRX to an NRX+. Light and sensitive but that great action is lost with the newer model… Just my thoughts

Great!I got the 7'2" Heavy. It weighs 4.1 oz on my scale. This rod has what I think are micro guides at the tip. I probably wouldn't have bought it if this was advertised, because I tie on a leader. Anyways, I just tie a different knot nowadays. Problem solved. Great rod! I paired it with a Diawa TW. I generally like all cork handles, but love the handle on this rod. Recommended.

The real dealI have many many rods, all the way down from an Abu Garcia vendetta to NRX+s to st croix legends. I recently Baught an Expride 7’6” heavy fast specifically for deep grass Texas rig fishing 1/2 oz tungsten and 20 pound flouro is the only thing this rod will see. The rod is perfect, it’s light super sensitive plenty strong and absolutely skulls them on a long cast. Not to mention it fishes like a 400-500$ rod. Its worth every penny I will replacing every rod I own with an expride.

The best for the money. The rod is amazing. The quality, sensitivity, weight and balance on the very high level. I have couple of Shimano Poison Adrena so comparing them, Expride is very close. I don't like cork though but these my personal preferences so I wouldn't added it to Cons of the rod.

it started with 1 then turned into 8...I used to fish Dobyns Furys and I wanted a nice jig rod so I pulled the trigger on a 7'2 MH last year. Since then I've bought 7 more because once you feel how great these rods fish you will want your whole arsenal Exprides. I have a 7'2 Glass for Chatter baits, 7'6 H for flipping heavy ish cover (but not punching), 7'3 XH for frogs, 7'2 med light for walking baits, 7'2 med mod for cranking, 6'10 med mod for Jerkbaits and a 7'6 XH for swim jigs. These rods are in the 300 price range but fish like 500 dollar rods. They're super light, sensitive, balanced and consistently phenomenal. Can't say it enough how great they are. They have a wide variety of rods that fit all techniques and If the rods are in your budget or can afford them don't hesitate you won't regret it. Never had a problem with any of them so far. The only draw back is shimano's warranty but if you treat your equipment respectfully you won't need it.

6'10" mediumObviously one of the most popular of the Expride line - I concur, it is a dream to fish. Does more than jerkbaits, I've been fishing smaller squarebills and senkos effectively. But the warranty is absolute bull!@$. COME ON shimano, look at what other manufacturers are offering. I have kept the plastic on the cork, kept the receipt, and kept the shipping tube, in case something should happen (God forbid)!

7’0 Medium and 7’0 LightAs the title suggests; these rods are great! Their sensitivity is so far amazing for the price I paid for them but I believe the P5 Destroyers is more sensitive than these rods. I trade my Destroyers for Exprides and I can’t be happier. The 7’0 medium has a moderate bend to it which I love using Jerkbaits and cranks for it. Perfect medium to me. Now I have to say the 7’0 light isn’t a light even though I never use the previous version but I do have a few Adrenas and it feels like a medium-light for sure. Super sensitive! I felt every jolt this past weekend on 1/8oz jig catching whitebass and hybrids. I have it paired with a Twin Power FE 2500shg and this is the perfect combo. My 7’0 Medium is paired with a Stella Fk 2500 and it’s a beast. All I can say is that get it! For the price you can’t beat it. I’m planning on getting a MH baitcaster for my top water fishing. Good luck!

King of Its Price RangeI was reluctant to follow through on the Shimano Expride hype but I realize now that it's chatted about for a reason. I've used them for a few months and I can't fuss about anything. These are workhorse rods that will last. My personal favorite is the 7'2 MH/f which I use primarily for texas rigging. I pair it with the 2022 Shimano Bantam MGL A. Fish get stuck between the eyes and dragged out of cover like butter.

Expride fishes way above its price pointI've been fishing the Expride lineup since 2019 and they fish well above its price. I have 12 exprides between the A and B model. They are all phenomenal rods never had any problems with them.

Big Miss ShimanoPurchased the 7'2" M/H Fast over a year ago specifically for T-Rigs. The issue was, this rod is really a Heavy/Fast. A bit overkill for T-Rigs so I switched it to my Jig rod. Best Jig rod I ever used no doubt. So I went to purchase a 7'ish Med Fast figuring it would be perfect for T-Rigs. Problem is, Shimano doesn't make it. They have it in the new Intenza but not in the X-Pride or even the Zodias. Big miss Shimano. A 7'2" Med Fast would probably be in the top three sizes sold.

Awesome Rod!I purchased the 6'10 Medium for my wormin duties and I must say, this rod is awesome! The rod is incredibly light & sensitive BUT it has the strength to handle bigguns! I've caught two 8 pounders with it and the rod performed beautifully! I was worried that the Medium action wouldn't be able to handle big bass but I was wrong! By far, this is the best rod I've ever used! Well worth the money! Great job Shimano!

Better than Megabass P5I bought several of the Megabass P5 line of rods at over inflated prices that they run. I, then, went back to Shimano Exprides. Without a doubt, the Exprides are as good, and after extensive use, I think better.

Best rod for your money !!!!I own and have fished several rods at higher prices and the exprides still are my favorite for the money they’re simply unbeatable. The sensitivity is the same or even more than my Megabass destroyer p5’s and lighter than all of them my main line up consists of all exprides have about 6 of them now I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the models.

Awesome rods!I have 6'10" med-heavy casting & a 7' light spinning rods. Their both extremely sensitive & can feel difference between sand, mud, grass, rock. The 7' light is heavier than I expected, I would call it a med-light, other reviews say same thing. It still awesome rod! The 6'10" med heavy is my go to now. Has plenty of backbone & just a soft enough tip to help keep fish pinned. I've caught multiple big largmouth on it this year including 7.4 - 8.05 - 8.6 - 9.3 - my current PB 11.4 at Lake Hartwell in the kayak! I like shorter rods because I'm in the kayak.

Exceptional ValueI've been testing these Expride B blanks since they came out and I'm extremely happy with them. Fit, Finish, and performance is amazing at this price point! The 7'3" XH for Frogs and 7'2" MH for Chatterbaits are my personal favorites!

Comments: I purchased the 7' 3" XH frog rod after breaking my old Daiwa Steez XBD frog rod (my fault) and it definitely a better all around frog rod for literally half the price of the Steez. Paired it with the newer Metanium B 8.1 ratio and 50lb super slick V2, I had a day of probably 25+ 3lb or bigger class largemouth and this Expride absolutely man-handled them all. Was pulling fish out of thick mixed pads and pencil reeds and not once felt like I wasn't in control of the fight. Launches frogs a mile with the metanium and the tip is a perfect blend of a moderate-ish-fast so you don't rip the frog out if fishes mouth and you get money hooksets. I cannot recommend this rod enough for frogging, I threw a 6" magdraft around on another outing and it does okay, but a longer rod like a 7' 6" or 8" worked better. If you use heavy grass jigs or wanna pitch and flip t-rigges plastics with it, it could absolutely work for that also, it is a very sensitive rod. For $300 af ter tax, the Expride Bs are without a doubt the best value bass rods on the market in my opinion. And I own Steezs, Destroyers, NRXs,etc. Definitely pick one up if you're thinking about it, I love em!

From: Cooper: Minnesota 7/22/23

Comments: I now have three Exprides, which are all great rods, but when it comes to the 7'2" MH/F I picked up for my all around jig rod I couldn't be happier. Sensitive is definitely one word to describe it but a better description is the rod just feels so clean and crisp. A bass picking up a jig communicates so well through the rod and fighting the fish back to the boat is so much fun. After a few weeks worth of fishing with this rod I would absolutely buy it again.

From: Dan: Michigan 5/23/23

Comments: I've had almost a full season's worth of experience with the Expride B model and I've fallen in love with the line. Being mainly a bank angler I do feel like it may be a little but overkill but I wouldn't change my purchase at all. I bought the 7'2 MH F, and the 7'2 H F. Phenomenal rods I'm glad I took TacticalBassin's advice! I've tried put so many other rods but always end up coming back to this line of Shimano rods. Being a bank angler, you really don't wanna carry more than 3-4 combos max and I'm so happy that these are in the starting lineup. Keep in mind, Shimano rods do seem a tad bit stiffer than the other companies. I like how versatile the rods are. I also have the ML and M in the spinning versions both have exceeded my expectations. I do like how they added the hook keeper at the bottom in the B version but it's hard to get heavier hooks to sit in it properly without scratching up the blank. That's a minor issue to me though. I've heard great things about the zodias as well but if you the extra $50 I would 100% invest it into this rod instead. All I was missing was a dedicated squarebill/chatterbait rod so I got the intenza MH glass. Would have gotten another one of these in the MH glass instead but needed to reserve some money for the reel and lures too haha. If I don't like the intenza I'm definitely picking another one of these up though. Bottom line, PULL THE TRIGGER ON THIS YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

From: Umair: Illinois 12/25/22

Comments: 8'XXH arrived today and couldn't wait to tie up and toss it around. I was wondering if the handle would be long enough-it is, I'm used to Orochi Leviathan and Loomis 966, and though I have a rod w a very long handle (Leviathan rods XH) the handle on this Expride is a great length-especially for a kayak angler like me. I chucked a modified weedless 8" magdraft a very long way. Also an 8" savage gear a very long way. A 5.5oz Real Prey carp also went an extremely long way. This is a softbait rod-at least as lightweight as any other big gear I've got. Likely more sensitive due to the fast action (its not moderate to me) and great materials. I've been looking awhile for a softbait rod, took a chance, and found exactly what I wanted. Shimano does it again. Can't wait to crack some positive hooksets with this stud of a rod. Glad I branched out!

From: Timothy: ME 12/7/22

Comments: I ordered the 7'6 XH Expride B as a flipping stick and for punching mats down in Florida and it's absolutely incredible. I like the mod fast action so it's not a broom stick and has some tip and gradually gets into the backbone so you can pitch into targets accurately. I use it for throwing soft Swimbaits up to 2oz as well and it fits the bill perfectly. I have the 7'2MH Expride A that I use for jigs and Texas Rig baits and it's my favorite rod that I own. I think the Expride B actually has it beat now. It's the same rod build as the A but I really like the monocoque handle and my favorite part is "Wait for it"  A FREAKING HOOK HANGER FINALLY!!! Shimano listened finally and gave us what we wanted. Beautiful rod and you can't find a better rod for the money. Buy one you won't regret it.

From: RDSMITT : Florida 11/17/22

Comments: This rod is really good. I have had Phenix MBX models for the last 3-4 years and wanted to try another brand. I purchased the 7'2" ML and this rod is excellent for free rig/TX rig/Ikas/Etc. even throw a lighter spinner bait on it. I will defiantly be buying more in the future. Action and sensitivity are perfect, nice tip with a good backbone. Thank you T.W. and Shimano

From: Ryan : San Diego, CA 11/1/22

Comments: I bought the 8 foot XX- heavy swimbait rod .. and just WOW !! What a phenomenal Swimbait rod .. I have 3 others all a bit more expensive only this expride is just better / nicer .. it's so light for a swimbait rod .. the parabolic bend is perfect for swimbaits .. ( I gave away my $700 Megabass casino to a friend knowing I would never use it again ) I've a few other Exprides so when I saw this new model out I wanted to give it a go ..I'm just floored at how well dialed in this rod is for big baits .. the weight of it will have you enamored. Hard to see myself throwing my other S.B rods now when this is is just so damn perfect .. last note I'm loving the upgraded V2 version .. the mono c. The handle is not really necessary in this rod .. but it's cool to have. The Matt black is also very sheik .. as far as swimbait rods I foresee this rod becoming just as popular as the 6’10 M was/is for jerk baits P.s .. don't let that XX heavy fool you .. this is far from a pool stick .. absolutely perfect parabolic bend for treble hooks

From: Dean : Las Vegas 10/16/22

Comments: I have the 7' medium glass, this rod likes to stay around the 12 to 15 foot range with smaller cranks. Landing fish with this rod is very sweet the rod has a nice parabolic action to it and really keeps those treble hooks from tearing. I would say if you want sensitivity stay with a non glass rod even though this one is composite it still has trouble in that department it's not a noodle like full glass but everything is just Dulled down a bit. So far I really like this rod for small/medium sized cranks. The tip is pretty whippy so you get those small light baits to load up and fly out there pretty good as well. Not a deep diving rod.

From: Derek: Arizona 8/19/22

Comments: I have 610MB its the best jerkbait/cranking rod very sensitive, versatile and the new monocoque butt/handle adds extra sensitivity in the forearm area and makes the rod lighter compared to Expride A with eva foam. I also have the 72MHB which is pretty stout but it a workhorse very versatile use it for frogs, bladed jigs, spinnerbiat, buzzbaits and everything in between. The New Expride B rods rule! Get em while they are hot and instock! Just as good as NRX+ GLoomis and who owns GLoomis? GLoomis is a Shimano company! Just as good as the high high end rods.

From: Unknown: 7/19/22

Comments: I don't usually leave reviews, but for this, I'll make an exception. I was able to get my hands on a 7'2" MH. Quite frankly, it's outstanding. The sensitivity is fantastic, it loads up well on the cast, and it fought two nice walleye flawlessly. The only knock I can give it is that it's got a couple of small scratches on it from the one time I've gone fishing with it. Bonus points: it looks sexy. Awesome rod!

Comments: Just received my new Expride B, 7'2" MH. The rod is really nice. Expride continues to be an incredible value. I have found that the Expride MH model would be rated as a Heavy in other lines. This is not a complaint, rather it is something one should know going into the purchase. Rod is very sensitive and an exceptional jig and worm rod. I will also use this rod as my "shorter" flippin and pitching rod when the situation calls for it. I now own 3 Exprides, the 6'10" M, 7'6" MH, and this one. Very satisfied with all. The BEST upgrade on the Ex B is this one has a hook hanger on handle. Never understood the omission of one on the original.
