Overview
With its durable design and ability to perform in freshwater and saltwater, the Shimano Spheros SW Spinning Reels offer anglers more confidence thanks to a harmonious blend of Shimano technologies. Achieving efficiency through strength, the Shimano Spheros SW Spinning Reels are built using a cold forged aluminum HAGANE Body and HAGANE Gears, which works to eliminate flex and ensure out-of-the-box smoothness over and over again.
Standing up to the toughest conditions, the Shimano Spheros SW Spinning Reels battle corrosion with the implementation of Shimano’s Coreprotect technology and premium S-ARB Bearings. Elevating gear durability and casting distance, the Shimano SW Spinning Reel utilizes X-Ship, which supports the pinion gear on both ends to provide precise alignment with the drive gear. Backed by a Cross Carbon Drag for increased strength, the Shimano Spheros SW Spinning Reels give anglers the ability to transition between saltwater and freshwater, while maintaining superior performance.

Comments: In terms of refinement and quality at a low price point, it doesn't get better than this. If Shimano made them in every size, it would hurt Stradic sales and kill Ultegra. There is nothing wrong with the previous reviewers reel. He just didn't use backing before he spooled his braid, which results in the line spinning. He didn't know any better, but pointing fingers at TW and Shimano for operator error isn't cool.

Comments: Received the reel to put on my daughters built spinning rod. Spooled it up, and tied on a Berkley General. Went to place hook in the holder and noticed the drag wasn't tight. Cranked the drag knob a couple of times, still slips like before. To make a long story short, I cranked the drag so tight, to go any further one would had to use pliers to continue tightening the drag, but to no avail the drag slips as if it's not tightened at all. This is no dark shadow on Tackle Warehouse as they just sold it. My family and I probably have around 25 to 30 Shimano casting, and spinning reels and most rods, and this reel is a big disappointment from Shimano. They need to step up their game on the quality of these reels.

Comments: I bought one when it was released, a 4k size. Pretty smooth. A bit on the heavier size but I pair up with a lighter rod to make up for me. So far so good.
