Overview

Continuing the legacy of the Stradic family, the Shimano Stradic FM Spinning Reel is the newest addition to Shimano’s CoreSolid lineup of spinning reels and showcases reel technologies passed down from Shimano’s flagship spinning reels. With the addition of InfinityXross technology, the Stradic FM Spinning Reel delivers unequaled gear durability and synergy by extending the gear tooth horizontally to distribute load across the gear tooth more evenly. This complements cold-forged HAGANE gearing for added strength with the refinement of MicroModule II for the ultimate reeling experience. Internally, it also features InfinityDrive that creates a light rotation and increased cranking power with the reel is under heavy loads.

Backed by a Duracross Drag system, the Stradic FM Spinning Reel provides the smooth performance of felt with up to 10 times the durability. X-Protect water-repellent coating and a specially designed water-channeling system ensures a lifetime of dependable performance by stopping water penetration in key areas without adding a heavy rotational feel. Finished with an Anti-Twist Fin that enhances line management, the Shimano Stradic FM Spinning Reel is the most complete Stradic in a long lineage of performance.

Perfect reelThis stradic is build very well it is very smooth and is very strong, it’s my favorite reel for bass fishing but you can do so much with this reel and even take it to the salt water, this is definitely worth the investment.

Phenomenal ReelI guess this reel is proof that a company can make a bulletproof product and someone will still need to complain about something. I’ve had countless Stradic reels and used them for salt and fresh water fishing without even a hint of an issue. You would be hard pressed to find a better quality reel at this price point. This thing is smooth as silk yet built like a tank with precision performance.

A must haveThis is the best spinning reel out there for the money. I have 6 stradics in different sizes and never a problem. This reel will last you a lifetime. Light, smooth and powerful.

Static FMSolid reel. Used a handful of times since Christmas. No issues. Good quality, excellent drag system pairs well with the Star rod that was purchased.

Worst Shimano product I have owned.Shimano should be ashamed. I own four 3000s and they are all noisy as heck. It's not the bearings; I've had them checked out at a Shimano service center. The problem is poor quality and machining tolerances. The chrome plastic is also bubbling, an issue I have not even had on $20 reels.

Hands down one of the bestAfter a year on the road fishing in saltwater and fresh on and off and then for the last 2 months I have been fishing huge smallies consistently almost everyday I would recommend this reel 100% to anyone fishing salt or fresh.

BEST VALUE FOR YOUR MONEYI have 1 FM, 2 FL, 1FK, 1 STRADIC CI4 and 2 Vanford. I also have a Diawa Ballistic and Pfluger patriarch. They are great reals and you can't go wrong with any of them. As far as I am concerned the FM is hands down the best for any $200 reel. I would put on par with a Stella and Certate. May a pinch heavier but damn near as smooth. But hundreds less. I work in a bait and tackle shop and get to play with most of the $300 reels on down. And the STRADIC FM is my favorite and the few guys that I have convinced to buy one have comeback and said they are amazed at the smoothness and balance of cranking and drag. And a couple guys have bought 1 or 2 more.

Amazing.Im shocked that these are not all 5 stars. Took this reel in a 3000 series to Canada for a week long trip 14-15 hours on the water each day, thousands of casts, and cramped in a small boat with two other people. This reel took a beating both catching large Pike and being beat to death in a cramped boat. Along with this reel i bought a brand new Nasci 3000 series for my second pole, i was shocked at how much I gravitated to the Stradic setup. Yes Im aware this reel is double the cost of the Nasci but all the shops were recommending the nasci as being a reel that performs with those twice its price. While the nasci is good and i have no complaints . This reel is on another level. The line management system is insane. Can reel in slacked line with no worry of birds nests or knotted up line. It’s smooth and the drag system works well. I have nothing bad to say. I was skeptical about spending the money but I’m sure glad i did and it is not that often now that i get to say that these days.

Stradic FM 4000- twice returnedSo I have a ton of reels. My favorite being ci4+ (black one). These new stradics are no good. I don’t know what Shimano is doing but they better get it figured out. Ever since Shimano switched to the new gearing the retrieves are way too tight. Burns up your wrist/forearm when making high number of casts and retrieves. I bought this new Stradic (4000), and returned it twice. First one had drag clicker problem (no engage of clicker sound). Second one play in handle. Returned and got a Ballistic 4000, and 100% happy now. Daiwa still has that sweet easy looser feeling retrieve. And the MQ has much bigger gears. (Plus more drag output , which really doesn’t mean much to me, but to some people it might) I tried to find all of the ci4+ on eBay to get as many as I can before they’re gone, because all these new Shimanos are too tight and have defects. * I’ve tried newest Sustain, Vanford, Twin Power, and now Stradic FM, and all have the same problem with that too tight retrieve.

Great reel for priceI love this reel I’ve been using it for about a year in Galveston, Tx I figured it be great for speckle trout, sheep’s head & flounder medium reds but never thought about how it would handle black drum this little reel is awesome it can take a beating not sure what’s going on with the bad reviews maybe they got defective reel I’m sure they can be returned but I highly recommend this reel I have 3000 on a avid inshore St.Criox

Simply IncredibleNot sure what some of these people are talking about. This reel is incredible and checks all the boxes for me. I primarily fish for river smallmouth. I need a reel that’s both versatile and light. This reel checks many boxes for me. It’s fairly light while still having a strong build. The drag is awesome. It’s a very smooth retrieve - even in stronger current. While you can catch fish on some of the budget models like the Sedona and the Sahara, I think it’s worth it to fork out the extra cash and get a Stradic. There’s a reason it’s a fan favorite name in Shimanos lineup for a long time. Better build components and longevity. Big fan.

Had to Return TWO of them.Y'all I never am a negative guy. But when i bought a stradic fm from omnia and it arrived suuuper noisy i was very disappointed that something shimano sounded that way. It was smooth but had a noise coming from the gears that got louder with increased handle speed. I received a replacement and it had the exact same problem. I LOVE shimano. But i don't know whats wrong with the new stradic FM launch to where I am seeing this problem on reddit too. Hope to return it for a vanford or daiwa ballistic. Wish I could give it 5 stars but a $200 shimano that noisy just is no bueno.

Dont believe itNot sure what these people below me are talking about. I've been using the Stradic FM the last 4 months with 0 issues. I'm fishing these reels 4 to 5 times a week inshore fishing for redfish, snook, and trout. This reel is 100% an improvement from the FL especially in the drag system. The holder inside the spool that incases your drags is now made of aluminum and wont burn on long runs from big fish. Believe what you want but I'm around these reels every single day not only fishing them but selling and working on them. just my .02

Rock solid workhorseI see folks saying they have play in theirs. I have 3 of these, and they're all utterly flawless. It performs like a 300 or 350 dollar reel. Impossibly smooth drag, great casting, resistant to line twist, tight tolerances. Best reel I've ever owned at this price point.

Best $200 Spinning ReelGreat reel! Took it on a North Dakota trip, fresh out of the box, and it did not disappoint. Smooth, lightweight and at a great price. At this price point, I would take this over the vanford.

Poorly made reelVery upset after purchasing this reel. I thought it was going to be a upgrade from the Stradic FL. Indeed a down grade. I have 60 dollar spinning reels that are made better than the FM and without all the play in the handle. I recommend you stay away from the first Gen FM and let shimano make improvements, especially with the play with the spinning handle. As previously stated in the first review I traded this reel for the Vanford 3000 it's a nice smooth spinning reel.

DisappointedI would not recommend this reel. As last review stated play in the handle. I would definitely purchase a older stradic are vanford big let down on this spinning reel.

I give up.Payed $220 for a reel with play in the handle/gearset...really?I am grateful to have the reel...I expected ALOT more for my money...my guess is have spend a little more and get the twin power?I would like a spinning reel with no play in the handle and it's definitely noticeable and plenty of play in the knob..sorry for the bad review. As always tacklewarehouse #1.
