Overview
“Strong, yet sensitive” are not words that typically describe an aesthetic showstopper, but they do illustrate the Shimano Sustain FJ Spinning Reel. Built to conquer the toughest inshore and freshwater species, the Shimano Sustain FJ Spinning Reel is the toughest in the MGL reel family and crafted with an MagnumLite (MGL) rotor for light start-up rotation and faster hooksets with increased sensitivity.
Housed in a feathery, yet rugged aluminum HAGANE body, the Shimano Sustain FJ Spinning Reel experiences minimal reel flex when taming hard-fighting fish. Lighter than its predecessors, the Shimano Sustain FJ Spinning Reel features Long Stroke Spool to provide anglers with improved casting distance. MicroModule II gearing combined with Shimano’s HAGANE Gear and SilentDrive technology offers anglers the smoothest possible reeling experience. Sure to turn the head of big fish and fellow anglers alike, the Shimano Sustain FJ Spinning Reels are packed with Shimano technologies and premium components that guarantee seamless operation in any conditions.

Comments: Bought the 3k and it hasn't disappointed me yet. dunked it in salt chasing snook through mangroves and it's still running smooth.

Comments: I own 2 Vanfords for bass which I love and I wanted to try the Sustain to see if it's a step above and it did not disappoint. Makes casting small baits such as neg rigs, hair jigs and 3 inch swimbaits a breeze. The drag is the best I've ever felt and makes me feel so confident fighting big smallmouth. Definitely worth the extra cash if you already have a Vanford and want something more refined.

Comments: Reels a beast feels more saltwater than freshwater little on the heavy side it's a amazing reel but go for the vanford if you want a lighter spinning reel for freshwater I'd say this is more back bay saltwater with its weight it's pretty beefy in the 2500 size

Comments: This is the real deal, buttery smooth ,plenty of torque, the long stroke spool gives you extra distance. Just a straight up winner!
