The Smash-Tech Custom Baits Convict Weedless Swimbait is a 7-inch, full-bodied, hand-poured swimbait designed to provide more versatility and present fish with a bigger meal. Because it’s weedless you don’t have to fish around the edges of cover, and you will be able to get the Convict in places a big swimbait hasn’t been able to go before.
It features a slot in the belly so the hook doesn’t have to go through a bulky plastic body, and it’s also molded to perfectly match the 10/0 Owner Beast Hook. Delivering plenty of hook-setting power, the Beast Hook is available in two versions, and Smash-Tech recommends using the un-weighted hook for fishing shallow water cover and the weighted hook for fishing over deeper structure. Comments: You do need a little bit of weight added to the hook. Suspend strips, tungsten putty, Active S weights or as Smash-Tech advised, the most inexpensive option available, Golf tape.

Comments: Love the bait, it definitely gets bit. I'd like to see a little more thickness on the spine of the bait where the hook comes through. It tears really really easily.

Comments: This andrew cat want to see my recipe? How else would I know that the hook slot blows the bait out. Does not run true weightless. Never said it could not catch fish, just hard to pay that much when blows out on one fish.

Comments: Rick should have to show proof of purchase of a Convict for his review, because I almost guarantee he has never fished one. The bait fishes excellent weightless. We add suspend strips to keep it down when needed. Rick's review is probably actually from a jealous competitor. There are lots of videos online showing the convict in action catching fish. Its a great swimbait for heavy cover. Yes, the bait is very similar to an osprey, but so are the competitors. The osprey style swimbait has been around a long time. This is a unique weedless option. Glad we have it!

Comments: Great bait that has much better hookup ratio than the solid body large swimbaits I've tried. Very few missed fish. Have caught lots of good fish on it already this spring. Hook slot helps with rigging the bait straight as well.

Comments: Just a knock off the osprey. The hook slot just causes the bait to blow out. Does not run weightless, have to add lead weight to hook.
