Comments: I picked up one of these rods just for fun because I like to finesse fish a lot. I have multiple spinning and BFS rods that I use for light line techniques. The ultimate Ned rig rod is rated ML but to me, I would say it's on the lighter side of that. I purchased the 5'10 model and it is like holding a feather. I slapped a 2000 series light weight shimano reel on the rod and the combo weighs about as much as a lot of reels on the the market without a rod. There is a good bit of bend through the blank but it kept fish pinned and casts nicely. I will say that the guides are a little bigger than a lot of my mid to high end rods and I noticed that the 10 lb braid got wrapped around the tip more than I'm used to. I'm so used to longer rods that I was hesitant to purchase something under 6 ft but casting distance wasn't a problem especially with thin diameter 8 strand braid. The rod also fits quite easily in the back seat of my truck. Sensitivity was good enough and matched the price point if not exceeded it slightly. Overall I'd recommend the rod and I may pick up a 5'4 model just for fun too. The Tennessee handles are kind of a novelty but I enjoyed it. Don't feed into fancy tapes, some good quality electric tape works just fine. On the last 6 inches of the tape wrap don't stretch it at all and it will stay in place quite well.
