Nice rod butIt is a light weight and comfortable rod to fish with. Seems to be pretty sensitive, but be aware it is a very light action rod. It should be fine for Creek fishing where you aren't likely to run into too many large fish. It felt a little overloaded throwing an 1/8 oz head with a 3 inch Ned body. It felt much better throwing a 1/16 oz head. I have not caught a fish on it yet, but I don't think you will be able to Bully a 15 inch fish with it. You would be under gunned against a large fish for sure. Ham

Helpful tip..This is more of a tip than review. Try using castration bands to hold the reel to the handle. You can still move reel where you'd like , and don't have to tape and untape. Also bands last quite a while. Learned this from my ice fishing friends in the frozen tundra(upper Midwest). I do plan on buying at least one of these and likely 2 or more. And will attach reels this way.

Compact, effortless fishingI chase speckled trout in the back waterways of the gulf coast and over the last couple of years have been downsizing tackle. This little rod is the ultimate "downsized" tool I've yet discovered. Such a joy to fish with! I will confess that attaching a reel with electrical tape sounds a bit 'hillbilly' but it's perfect and very comfortable in the hand. It balances like no rod with a traditional reel seat can, making the whole rig feel nearly weightless. The compact size fishes effortlessly with quick, accurate casts and what seems to me much better contact with and control of baits. I was suspicious at first but it has proven to be reliable and more than up to the task. Highly recommended for those seeking to downsize their gear.

That handle tho!Whooo hooo...Tennessee handles are back! You pick where your reel goes, tape it on there, and fish! As you can see in the other review, this makes the rod feel WAY more balanced and lighter in your hands. This makes for a true magical finesse wand that will coax checks and tournament wins to your boat or googan canoe.

Comments: I picked up one of these rods just for fun because I like to finesse fish a lot. I have multiple spinning and BFS rods that I use for light line techniques. The ultimate Ned rig rod is rated ML but to me, I would say it's on the lighter side of that. I purchased the 5'10 model and it is like holding a feather. I slapped a 2000 series light weight shimano reel on the rod and the combo weighs about as much as a lot of reels on the the market without a rod. There is a good bit of bend through the blank but it kept fish pinned and casts nicely. I will say that the guides are a little bigger than a lot of my mid to high end rods and I noticed that the 10 lb braid got wrapped around the tip more than I'm used to. I'm so used to longer rods that I was hesitant to purchase something under 6 ft but casting distance wasn't a problem especially with thin diameter 8 strand braid. The rod also fits quite easily in the back seat of my truck. Sensitivity was good enough and matched the price point if not exceeded it slightly. Overall I'd recommend the rod and I may pick up a 5'4 model just for fun too. The Tennessee handles are kind of a novelty but I enjoyed it. Don't feed into fancy tapes, some good quality electric tape works just fine. On the last 6 inches of the tape wrap don't stretch it at all and it will stay in place quite well.
