Overview

Bill Lewis' legendary invention, the Rat-L-Trap, is recognized as the most popular, and consequently, the most imitated lure. The Rat-L-Trap's tight wobble allows that bait to dance identically to a panicked baitfish. Dual-frequency rattle chambers imitate the vibration of a school of minnows. In fact, analysis by leading bio-acoustic research teams confirms striking similarities between the sound of actual baitfish and the Rat-L-Trap. These sounds are the 'Dinner Bell' for predator fish.

Comments: This floating lipless crankbait works best on light braid. Cast like a dream, with no fear of the bait sinking like a rock into heavy cover. Slow cranking making the lure V-Wake on top of the water is one of many retrieves that work best. Sweeping the rod five feet, then pausing letting the floating trap rise to the surface, then repeating also is excellent. This lure is made to fish swallow and will blow out or run sideways if reeled in to fast. The Bill Lewis Floating Rat-L-Trap is a welcome addition to the fishing family ! Tight Lines !

Comments: Fish the Bill Lewis Floating Rat-L-Trap slowly over the top of grass and hold on for action!  Reeling this lipless crank bait on top (or inches under the surface), makes this lure great for shallow water. I never fish this bait fast because of it's floatation, and I always use 30# Power Pro braid for the strength to rip fish from the vegetation. This floating Rat-L-Trap is truly "one of a kind" and stands alone in it's class.

From: Micah: Abilene, TX 4/29/20

Comments: I was really impressed by this bait, it does feel way different than the og rat-l-trap, its much lighter, but I'm pretty sure i like the floating version better than the normal. The fact that it floats allows you to fish places you normally wouldn't with a rat-l-trap, over laydowns, water 1-2 ft, muddy bottoms, ect., its a super versatile lure perfect for fall pond fishing.

Comments: Great people to deal with. I had purchased a rat-l-trap & when I tried it out it did not float. I sent & email and they replied quickly. They had me send the lure in. They provided the shipping packaging & cost. The I received a new one (worked great) which I have used and love it.

From: Ed: Wetumpka, AL 6/20/16

Comments: The Bill Lewis Floating Rat-L-Trap is a lipless crankbait that has great purpose. To throw this bait you will need unifilament or braid, because of its' light weight. The best way I have found to use this lure is to crawl (V-wake), it across shallow flats in the early spring. No other lipless crankbait can achieve this surface retrieve! Another technique is to jerk this bait down, allow it to float, then repeat. This works great, as a topwater, around structure. Introduce the Bill Lewis Floating Rat-L-Trap in a new way, and the fish will say "Hello Sports Fans!"
