Comments: Get you a Maverick 705CB 734c & 735c with SLX reels and you can do most everything in bass fishing on a budget except probably punching mats, deep cranking big plugs and swimbaits. Added bonus they color match.

Comments: I purchased the 705CB for topwater lures like a whooper plopper, ect... I have a Fury 705CB and wanted to save $29. Now this allows me to compare them side by side. The Fury is a better rod and well worth the $29 if you can afford it. I wish I had gotten another Fury. But don't take this to mean that the Maverick is a bad rod. It's like a 8 out of 10. And the Fury is a 9 out of 10. A 8 out of 10 is a good rod. I know this sounds like this is a negative review. But I don't mean it to be. It's only because the Fury is such an awesome rod that I love.

Comments: Last year I wanted to get a moderate action rod for crank baits and other treble hook lures. I saved up enough to be able to get a fury 705CB. I really like that rod. A while later I was tired of having to take of my crankbaits and reel too put on my top water lures which I use that rod for as well. I saved up and was going to get another Fury. But decided to try a Maverick rod and save a few bucks. The Maverick is a decent rod. And if I hadn't already had a Fury would be totally pleased. But the Fury is a better rod. I will try and describe the difference. All my comparisons was with the same reel, line, and lures. The Fury is smoother in casting and fighting fish. Has a much better feel to it. More sensitive. And the handle feels much nicer. You get a lot for $29. Is the Maverick worth the cost? Yes. It is a nice rod. Just because I said better things about the Fury does not mean you shouldn't get a Maverick. But if you can spend the extra $29 I would definitely get the Fury. To be totally honest, I wish I had stayed with my favorite brand and gotten a St Croix Mojo Bass cranker rod. If I knew someone would trade me these two Dobyns rods for the St Croix rod I want, I would most likely do it. Nothing against Dobyns rods. They are great. But I have a soft spot for St Croix rods. So the bottom line. If you like Dobyns rods go with either of these rods. Like I said I would go with the Fury over the Maverick. But the Maverick is no slouch. It is a great rod for $99.99.

Comments: Bought a 704c as an all-around kayak rod, and it's perfect in that role. The finish is markedly budget compared even to the Furies, but it fishes like a Dobyns and that's what matters. I would not hesitate to buy it again.

Comments: Received my 704c and 735c and what a great surprise. Both are very light, really well balanced. The tapers, power and actions parallel the Fury series. Foam grips are very comfy and have ample grip. Great use of trim rings, accents and color. Sharp looking rods. I love the active tips and progression to lock up. Very much like the Sierras. At this price point, these rods are a steal. Fit and finish are to tier. I haven't seen a rod of this quality at this price point in a long time. You can buy with confidence on this one.
