No complaintsBest rod when I got this rod a few weeks back I took it out and have not put it down since it is so much better then the Shimano poison adrena and the lightest rod on the market I have ever found.

Great rodThis was my first BFS casting rod I bought. I paired this rod with a Shimano Curado BFS reel with 6lb flourocarbon. My only complaint is the hook keeper placement. I do not like that the hook keeper is below the reel seat. Other than that it is a great rod.

Outstanding BAit finesse RodI paired my Dobyns Sierra to an kestral Elite BFS reel ..could not be more happy!! I ordered the 7ft 1 power for bait finesse. This rod has opened a rabbit hole up for me. It feels much better than picking up a spin caster..the rod loads expectionally deep. So small baits like 1/16th Ned rigs to bfs top waters and tiny baits can be worked effectively ..u can even pitch and flip small baits. Really impressed with the quality in Dobyns ! Owned them for years on other rods.

FragileI am a guide and I split my time between Lake Champlain and Lake Okeechobee. We always have a minimum of two dozen of the 7’4” version in stock . It’s a go to set up when the bite gets tough because of its castability when dealing with light weight rigs. Exciting for a customers, but still has the backbone to get the job done. Unfortunately, the blank breaks very easily and as a result, we reserve it for a more experienced customers. Although Dobbins has a no fault return policy replacement cost over $100 with shipping.

Holy smokesAfter trying 4 other rods claiming to be BFS, this one gets a gold medal. Casts lite tackle with ease and can still bring 6+ lb fish to the boat. Amazing sensitivity and perfectly balanced with a Daiwa Tatula BFS reel.

Smallmouth killerLove the rod 7'4. Matched with Shimano Aldebaran it casts forever. From 2g lures to 5" Senkos with 1/16 oz. Tungsten. Obe big issue. Rod tips are fragile. I have had to re-tip 3 rods. Txhey did not break from fishing, but slight bumps and the tip breaks. I continue to use them for spotted bass and smalleys. Just know, if you river fish on a kayak (New River), these things are fragile. Would i buy again? Not while I have 3 already. Once that tip breaks it works just as well if nit better for plastics.

Whole new worldPurchased 2 of the last summer, matched them with Shimano curado reels with 7lb fc sniper. Was a fan at first and felt I waited 800 bucks until this past winter when the bite was tough and I was able to put these rods to work. Bfs is now a staple in my boat. I Purchased 3 more rods and 2 more reels. My favorite is the 7ft ex fast and dragging ¼oz jigs. But also throwing 2½ in swimbaits on the 7ft4in. One of my setups I'm using 8lb braid with 6lb mono for all my topwater baits. Finesse frog fishing in open water is insane with these rods.

Trash rodAside from the annoying microguides, this blank snapped in the center so easily i was literally shocked. Clean break on a fish turning to run on 10lb test. The blank was clearly defective, and i wont be buying or using another dobyns rod.

AwesomeFirst BFS rod and I'm not disappointed. I went with the 7ft 4inch model. Took this out on Lake St. Clair yesterday and caught a bunch of smallmouth and even a freshwater drum. Rod is paired with an Ark Gravity BFS reel and 6lb tatsu...had no problem handling anything I caught. Incredibly sensitive tip and good backbone. Very happy with this purchase.

First bfs rodTried this out, i have a swimbait rod from them and its pretty great. Took it out on its maiden voyage and caught a bunch of small mouth and largemouth from 2-3#'s. Bigger fish were a handful but rod did its job. Great rod, especially for the money. Only complaint is i wish it had more backbone, but its a ligh fast, soooo its doing as it is intended.

Lots of funFinally got to try my Sierra Ultra Finesse yesterday. Water in NH is still very cold so jerkbaits are the lure of choice right now. I used a 3.5 Rapala RipStop which weighs in just under the recommended lure weight for the 690C. I have wanting to use the rod for three months so i decided to try it with light jerkbaits until i start my finesse fishing in a few weeks. It caught a bass five minutes into the day and it was a lot of fun. I have it paired with a Shimano Curado BFS with 6 pound fluorocarbon and this setup is going to be a great way to fish Ned rigs and 3 to 4 inch senkos. I did throw some and they cast wonderfully. Just gonna have to watch out for pickerel biting through the line lol.

Changed my dropshot fishingGot this rod at the beginning of last season to pair with a Shimano curado BFS reel and use as my dropshot rod. Worked flawlessly! The super light solid tip section reminds me of ice fishing rods and allows for very subtle shaking and feeling for bites without moving the bait far or having the fish feel any pressure. The rod is very light weight. Despite the light power rating, the rod has handled big smallmouth and walleye up to 27" without trouble. After an entire season of using BFS for dropshot, I won't be going back. I use this primarily for open water dropshot fishing. The biggest advantage is the ability to use straight 6lb fluorocarbon without line twists. I have better feel of the bait in deep water. When I break off I don't need to tie new leaders. I have no line twist issues. When the spool is free, I get a perfectly vertical fall (confirmed on livescope). I have no problems feeling the bottom and bites in up to 50' of water with this set up. No more spinning rod/braid here!

FAVORITE BFS RodThis rod handles like a dream. Throws small tiny baits a mile. Shimano Curado reel and some 8lb fluro and go.

Comments: I have the 7'4" L rod paired with a tuned up Daiwa Alphas mostly for hair jigs - I can cast them a mile and it handles the fish very well. Very pleased with this rod. At first I wondered why it had so many guides, but after fighting a few fish it made sense. Great rod for bfs gear.

From: Paul: Pennsylvania 5/29/23

Comments: I recently purchased the Sierra 7'light and paired it with a curda BFS reel and Im highly satisfied with this rod! My first time out was blast catching bass. The Rod is perfect for small crank baits, I used a RAPALA balsa wood floating bait with 4lb test flouro. I was able to cast it 35/40 yards. I highly suggest this rod, just make sure that you use the right reel with it! It also has enough back bone to land bigger fish.

From: Jay Wash: Valdosta, Georgia 5/21/23

Comments: I have a BFS 7' light 701 paired with an Aldebaran BFS (here in Europe the less expensive Curado BFS arrived later): the combo is delightful! I used to fish drop-shot, down-shot, small badebaits, micro-squarebils with a 6Lbs fluoro or 4Lbs braid-to-fluoro. Although extremely sensitive, this rod is parabolic enough to help in short pitching and in very long castings with such light tackles. Fight with any fish is extremely pleasant and line breaks are extremely rare, even with 22" bass or with 32" pikes. Amazing rod!

From: Fabrizio: Venice (Italy) 5/17/23

Comments: I got the 7' light to pair with a Shimano Curado BFS reel. Amazing setup for small swimbaits, tiny cranks and ned rigs. Best to use a true BFS rod as opposed to a whippy UL rod. Lots of fun pulling in smallies on this setup.

From: Don: 2/23/23

Comments: I needed a couple rods for my BFS reel but didn't want to buy from overseas. I just received my 650C from T.W. and this is one sweet rod. My 16' and 22' Aldebaran's fit perfectly. This rod is so light and the action is great. Not to mention the sensitivity is spot on. I also purchased the 691C from Dobyns (T.W. was out of stock at the time). The 691C is more of a one power but perfect for any of BFS reels. The 650 is a 0 power/extra fast solid tip whereas the 691 is more of a 1 power fast action tip. Kills 2 birds with one stone. Thanks, T.W. for your super fast shipping and great customer service.

From: Phil: P.A. 12/26/22

Comments: I dove into BFS earlier this year and just picked up a Sierra 691. Had it out several times already and it is a phenomenal rod. I have several Dobyns rods for "regular" bass fishing and love them too. The 691 loads well and is very sensitive. Works great for single hook applications like weightless 3 inch senkos and fluke jrs, but can also handle 1/8 oz hard baits very well. I have even used it for 1/8 ounce Stanley spinnerbaits. Very lightweight. Overall, it feels like a downsized premium Dobyns rod which is a great thing.

From: Unknown: 12/11/22

Comments: This is an amazing rod for it's intended BFS purpose. I have used the 700 version exclusively for small swimbaits. SLX BFS reel with 7lb sunline sniper and a 1/8 cool baits/swimbait has converted many of my friends. This is an amazing rod that loads so well I have caught multiple 4 lbrs in open water on this. I stepped on my last one and had to order a new one, but I just can't go without that set-up!

From: Jesse: Fredericksburg, VA 11/28/22

Comments: Great rod for throwing light baits and plenty of backbone to handle larger fish. I've paired my 7' rod with a KastKing Zephyr reel upgraded with ceramic bearings and after a little practice can toss tiny baits as far as I can heavier baits on my heavier rods.

From: John: Fayetteville, NC 4/26/22

Comments: I have been using this rod all last season. Very well designed. This is a true bass BFS rod and not a whippy UL rod. I really like the ability of this rod to fish a wide variety of baits. Does well for bottom contact baits as well as moving baits...small jerkbaits too. Gives you the feel of your M or MH bass rod but, the ability to cast downsized versions of your favorite bass lures. Great rod.

From: Unknown: Michigan 2/18/22

Comments: I now have two of the 7 foot models that I use to finesse fish for river Smallmouth. Ultra lightweight and well balanced, all it takes to bomb an 1/8oz hair jig is a flick of the wrist. Handles 4 lb + Smallmouth without issue and is just a pleasure to fish.
