Nice smooth reel .This reel is built right, It's got an aluminum frame which I will not buy a graphite frame reel. On sale this reel is a great deal. It's smooth, sets up nice for no backlash and throws a mile.

Good reelReally like this reel. I bought for casting small crank baits. I tied a small kietech swim bait with a 1/4 head on this reel and oh man... much easy to flip in brush or under docks. And getting back to the handle other then using a spinning reel. I purchased another on to fish small charter baits and spinnerbait.

Lews Bait Casting ReelGreat value and quality Available in several gear ratios Ball bearing , Smooth Casting, Silk Retrive. Select HS Gear ratios allow you burn crank baits or chose a lower gear ratio to pitch worms or jigs.

A Step BackThe reels is a step back from older models. I have the Tournament MP and Classic pro, which both of them are better than this current model of the speed spool. The frame isn't as comfortable and the brakes aren't great. I had issues setting the reels up, which isn't very common for me. The placement of the brake adjustment dial is horrible. my hand jacks with the breaks when I palm the reels, which is a horrible issue.

A decent reel and good valueGot it on sale. It’s a good mid to lower tier reel for us folks who can’t afford the high dollar ones. Very serviceable, nothing special but also solid, light and seems to have a good drag and free spinning core.

Who is this reel for?I owned several Gen 2, which were alright, but inconsistent. Each reel behaved a little different, but when bought on sale for $75, it was an ok deal. Now the put out Gen 3, which is worse and costs too much for basic magnetic brakes. You can get an SLX XT for $5 more a Tatula X for $10 more. Both are higher quality and better performing with much more refined braking systems and parts. Sorry Lew's, but this isn't it.

Stopped working after 5 monthsIt will get in gear to reel in after only 5 months. Its not built for weekly usage and tournament bass fishing. Do NOT buy this reel.

Would Recommend
Break in period?Initially I didn’t like the reel. Felt like I couldn’t get it tuned to function properly. This was back in May. Now, my tune has changed and I love this reel. Maybe there is a break in period, no idea, but I've been using it consistently for months and it’s been amazing. The bigger knobs make it very comfortable and I can sling a Chatterbait across the pond. Anyone having doubts just keep using it. It may change your mind.
