Heavy - Moderate FastThis was a highly anticipated rod for me as soon as it came out. I already owned a Dobyn'sKaden 806 travel rod but really wanted something that could pack down smaller and still throw my medium sized swimbaits. I decided to pick up the heavy model Guide Select when it finally came back in stock. Pros: - This rod packs down small! The hard travel case is 27 inches long and fits perfectly in my car cubby or a large suitcase. My Kaden's travel case is 37.25 inches long and a lot harder to store. - The moderate fast action (very similar to the previous "A" version Guide Select) is unique in that mose swimbait rods are more of a fast action. While you sacrifice some casting accuracywith the slower rod, I feel like it helps keep fish pinned on treble hook baits and also reduces fatigue from making long, repetitivebomb casts with big baits. - I like Fuji K guides... double footed all the way to the tip and very robust. They could be a size smaller in my opinion. - The oversized hook keeper is nice and not at all prone to breaking or bending. - The cosmetics are nice and neutral so you don't have to worry about what color your reel is. - The hard case is oversized in diameter so you can probably fit multiple travel rods inside one case. Cons: - No longer is this rod "family priced" at $159.99. After tax, you are now pushing close to the $200 range and into some custom rod territory (especially if you're open to buying used). - What drives me crazy is how loose the ferrules (joints) are. The Kaden assembles together nice and snug so that there is no movement of the segments and it's almost a struggleto get them apart. With the Guide Select they are loose and wiggly all the way till you get to the end of the ferrule and even then they are pretty easy to rotate. I haven't had a piece of the rod fly off on a cast yet (knock on wood), but definitely the guides get crooked after casting big baits a lot. - The rear handle length is 15.5 inches and NOT 13.5 inches per Okuma's website. Take this into consideration all you kayak fishermen with bulky life jackets. - The hard case does not have dividers inside like the Kaden does. Also the caps and foam inserts on the ends are thinner. - The epoxy work on the guides is so-so and kind of sloppy in some areas. Would I buy this rod again? Probably not at the current full price unless I needed it that moment to travel with. Aside from custom rods, I don't think there are many other options with the same features that pack this small. I would give this rod four stars and recommend it for this fact alone despite the flaws.

Thanks Okuma! I Love my new travel rod!Read a couple great reviews on this rod and decided to order the XH for my out of state trips. So far I’ve been very pleased with this rod. First off, the rod looks and feels amazing. I really like the cosmetics of the new generation Guide Select rods. The rod is nicely balanced and feels like a one piece rod. Breaks down to 4 pcs and comes with a nice tube for easy transport. I've thrown everything from hudds to 10 “ glides with no problems. This rod has landed big bass, striper and even big snook like a champ. Please make the MH in a travel model! I need a travel rod for my smaller swimbaits.

Legit swimbait travel rod!I picked up the 7'11 H 4 piece travel rod and I have been very please with performance of this rod! First off, the rods look and feel amazing. They come with a nice hard travel tube for easy transport. The weight, balance and feel of the rod feels like a one piece rod. Has plenty of backbone to throw big baits and handles the fish nicely. I've caught bass up to 8 lbs and a few striper in the 15-20 lbs range. I would definitely recommend this rod if you are looking for a solid swimbait travel rod. Great job Okuma!

Awesome travel rod!!!Picked up this rod in the H model and I was nothing but impressed. The best travel swimbait rod I have owned. Beautiful craftsmanship with great attention to detail. I was able to fit the rod with the case in my check in luggage with no issues. Best part of the rod is the performance. The rod feels light and well balanced and can handle big swimbaits the way it should. I have used this rod for largemouth bass, striper and for inshore fishing in baja for calicos.
