Overview
Built for targeting tough inshore species and trophy caliber bass, the Penn Squall 400 Low Profile Casting Reels utilize Penn’s legendary saltwater construction and Abu Garcia’s proven baitcaster technology to give anglers unmatched craftsmanship and performance. Offering increased line capacity for anglers making long casts with large lures and battling drag peeling fish, the Penn Squall 400 Low Profile Casting Reels features an anodized aluminum frame and a powerful HT-100 drag system that has what it takes to stand up to any fish anglers may find on the end of their line.
In addition to the exceptionally durable body, the Penn Squall 400 Low Profile Casting Reels achieve ultra-smooth performance with their 5+1 stainless steel bearing system that builds off a magnetic casting brake design for precise casting and reeling action. To provide inshore anglers with instant line management, Penn incorporated line capacity rings on the spool so you always know exactly how much line you have in the water, and if vertical jigging, you can get immediate feedback on your current water depth. Comments: I was building a "casting rig" for "surface iron to fish at Cedros Island, Mx. I found the jugging rod and Avets were a bit too problematic. While I have not used this reel yet in salt water, I find it to be a perfect fit for it intended purpose. Size, weight, line capacity, drag, and casting override make it perfect. Penn has crafted the perfect tool

Comments: Picked up a 7:6:1 to throw my big glide baits from 10 to 12inche and this thing is a tank and for anyone woundering it can hold around 160 yards of 30lb mono.

Comments: I bought the 400lp and 400lphs. I paired them with st. croix mojo musky rods. I caught a 42" musky 2 weeks later. The reel handled great. The drag is solid smooth casting comfortable handle. I've used them for topwater small bucktails crankbaits and double 10s. The reel handles double 10s great. They are hard on reels but I've been able to pull them no problem. Time will tell on durability. But penn is a good company that makes a quality product.

Comments: I bought a 6.2:1 and 7.6:1. Paired them with st. croix mojo musky rods. Caught my first musky over 40 inch. The reels handle great. Drag was excellent held tight no slipping at all. Ive thrown topwater small bucktails up to double cowgirls. The 6.2:1 has plenty of power to pull big blade bucktails without wearing you out. Id recommend these as a cheaper alternative. To the abu garcia daiwa or shimano low profile 400 reels. If you have the money step up to one of those brands. These are very similar to the revo beast reels. Except a few small things im aware of. But its $120 cheaper. I think it will hold up for years if taken care of.

Comments: Bought this reel about a year ago and I think it's better to just buy a conquest but if you really don't have the money it gets the job done holds Plenty of line and can take a beating only real complaints is the brakes are hard to tell which way is max and min since the writing is black on black and has faded, the drag star is plastic but feels sturdy, and I can cast much more accurate with a conquest that being said if you need a workhorse reel that can do salt it's a great reel at a decent price and I have yet to get a backlash

Comments: If any one is wondering this reel can hold 200 yards of 25lb fluorocarbon. I mainly use it to throw glid baits in that 2oz to 4.5 and 5oz it can throw them like a dream paired up with a 8ft heavy rod . Going to pick up another one to replace my round reel that I use to throw my huddelstons and bottom baits. 10/10 for a great beginner reel for big swimbaits.

Comments: Got one of these reels for Christmas and its awesome (6:2:1 ratio). Using it right now for NLBN Swimbaits and flair hawks and it slays for snook. This things awesome and 100% worth it for a fraction of the price of a tranx or lexa.
