Drag is above average for the price point. If you're looking for a rugged reel that won't break the bank, it is a good pick.

Comments: It's big and beefy. I have not used it in the surf yet, only local lakes and a canal. So far so good. I believe it is a good overall value and I look forward to using it for surf/bay. I feel like this thing can pull in the Bismarck if you hooked it. If you are looking for fresh water use, this is not your reel. There are lighter/smaller options that would suit that better.
