Overview
Utilizing Penn’s legendary saltwater construction and Abu Garcia’s proven baitcaster technology, the Penn Squall Low Profile Casting Reels are the result of merging the best minds in the saltwater world with the industry-leaders of freshwater fishing. Featuring an anodized aluminum frame and a powerful HT-100 drag system, the Squall Reels have what it takes to stand up to any fish inshore anglers may find at the end of their line.
In addition to the exceptionally durable body, the Penn Squall Low Profile Casting Reels achieve ultra-smooth performance with their 5+1 stainless steel bearing system that builds off a magnetic casting brake design for precise casting and reeling action. To provide inshore anglers with instant line management, Penn incorporated line capacity rings on the spool so you always know exactly how much line you have in the water, and if vertical jigging, you can get immediate feedback on your current water depth. A new casting reel category for Penn, the Penn Squall Low Profile Casting Reels are ready to take the inshore industry by storm!

Comments: I would give this reel 3.5 stars out of 5. Reliability is a big plus. Smoothness is about average for this price point. Casting ability is about average for this price point. Drag is above average for the price point. If you're looking for a rugged reel that won't break the bank, it is a good pick.

Comments: It's big and beefy. I have not used it in the surf yet, only local lakes and a canal. So far so good. I believe it is a good overall value and I look forward to using it for surf/bay. I feel like this thing can pull in the Bismarck if you hooked it. If you are looking for fresh water use, this is not your reel. There are lighter/smaller options that would suit that better.

Comments: Best baitcaster on the market. Smooth and reliable. I've fished this reel from St Andrews bay to Superior bay. Redfish to pike.

Comments: Penn quality and is a good price for the reel. Used on many fishing trips for fluke ,sea bass, porgies and lastly sea robins. Nice casting with braid and excellent for jigging with bucktails.I choose the 200 to match my rod

Comments: Surprisingly awesome! I am a huge fan of the Fathom, but had to budget the funds and went with a couple Squalls. What a surprise to me. Outstanding craftsmanship, no backlashes, and what a cast!

Comments: Awful reel. The 200 size has tons of play in the handle. Didn't even bother spooling with line. Immediately returned.

Comments: The reel was very easy to setup and start casting with it. The reel feels very smooth when reeling in line. The drag was also very smooth. Have not been able to use it very much yet but so far I like it very much.
