Amazing performance at an insane valueThis is the best reel at its price point on the market. Lightweight, extremely smooth, casting is incredible, and the drag is great for a baitcaster (although I still use my thumb for drag most of the time). Casting distance is comparable to some reels that cost twice as much, and it casts really easy. I own an HG and an XG, and would buy another if I needed it. I've used 12lb to 20lb straight fluoro, as well as 40lb and 50lb braid with no issues. I've thrown squarebills, deep cranks, texas rigs, jigs, chatterbaits, glide baits, blade baits, paddle tails, frogs, and probably a few other baits on these reels all with absolutely no issues. Haven't owned mine for long enough to comment on durability, but they've held up perfectly after one season of fishing so far.

Comments: What's not to like. Light weight but solid feel, casting distance is great and retrieve's are smooth. I would say it's under priced for a reel this good that will probably last 20 years. Unless you are throwing 3oz swimbaits or 1/16oz crankbaits this reel is all you'll ever need.

From: Jethro: Md 8/3/23

Comments: If you are looking for a crankbait reel this is it. I throw my frittsides on this reel and boy will it throw them. I have had trouble with other companies about being able to cast the frittside. Not with the 150 curado. Plan to use this for small swimbaits this summer but I am very pleased witht this reel.

From: Jake: AL 2/24/23

Comments: This thing handles fairly heavy braid like a champ (30lb-50lb) and you can also go to very light fluro and it's butter. To the guy with the loud noise if you get sand up in those teeth it will grind and make a loud noise and can possibly lock your line guide in place if not cleaned. I had that happen to mine and freaked but it will come out, stop making that noise, and cast better but you really gotta get in there. 200 bucks is a steal.

Comments: Absolutely blown away by this reel. I've never been stuck on any one brand. I own Lews and Daiwas all in the $200 range. This reel is in a completely different league. Buttery smooth, insanely effortless casting, small, palmable, lightweight. I've seen some people say they like tatula sv over this and I just can't see how that could be true. I have both and it's just not close. Strongly debating whether I want to get rid of all my other reels and replace them with curados. First Shimano baitcaster and definitely won't be my last.

Comments: Purchased the 8.1. Reel looks nice, feels cheap and felt a little tight. Love the power handle! I decided to keep it. I took it out the first time on my punching set up and it made a loud buzzing noise when I would cast out. The reel works but for 200 bucks its a no go for me. Quality is not there for me on this model. Better off with the SLX XT 150 for 100 bucks cheaper.

From: Jason: 9/15/22

Comments: I own lots of shimanos, daiwas, and lews reels and this one is by far my favorite along with my 70 mgl. I got this and paired it with a favorite DC summit 7'2  mh xf. Using as a light flipping stick with 30 lb braid. Perfect combo for flipping the edges of Roseau cane in the MS River delta. The reel feels meant for the rod, super light and about as sensitive as a setup gets. Using a tungsten weight you can feel every little detail of the bottom as if your hand itself were dragging the bottom. Very versatile too I plan on buying more summits and 150 mgls. This 150 mgl would be perfect on a NRX or any of the other high end rods that are extremely light and sensitive. I think on a heavier(weight not action) rod it wouldn't be as balanced since the setup would most likely be front heavy, which is a sensitivity killer in my opinion. 200$ is a great value for what you get which allows you to spend the extra buck on a quality rod.

From: Trey: Louisiana 8/5/22

Comments: Love the reel. Shimano got this one right as far an a great all around reel at a decent price. The only issue I have is one of the end caps came off of my reel handle. First time I ever had one pop out of any reel(Shimano or any other). For a $200 reel I'd expect better quality control.

From: Jeremy: Montana 7/19/22

Comments: Paired mine with a NRX+ MBR and it feels great! Not sure if anyone one else hears a similar sound to a DC reel right before the lure hits the water but it's pretty cool. The casting distance is amazing and this reel is super light. Has that Shimano built. It's smooth, palms very well, and feels well put together. For the price I think they hit it out the ball park. For me it's an all around use reel. I throw anything from Texas rigs to spinner baits on this and it handles them phenomenally. Always buy a reel cover cause these machines are worth taking care of and looking sweet all the time.

From: JC: Denver, CO 5/20/22

Comments: This reel is amazing. Featherweight, sturdy and casts like a dream.

From: Scott: New York 5/4/22

Comments: I must've got a lemon. Right out of the box the reel feels 'tight'. By tight I mean it's not free spooling AT ALL. I've used Shimano reels since 1986. This is the 1st time I've ever been disappointed.

From: Scot: Alabama 4/21/22

Comments: This reel is money!!! Got it on 7'2mh Expride with 15lb Invizx. Easy to dial in, can cast far and has nice drag. If I could only first one reel for the price you can't bet it.

From: Brandon: Marietta, GA 4/18/22

Comments: Best reel I've ever used. This thing casts a mile so effortlessly. It's a super nice reel. I really can't foresee anyone not liking this reel. It seems to do everything well.

From: Marc B: Steubenville, OH 4/11/22

Comments: Have been using Curado's for decades (since the old Bantam) ...some versions I have liked, and a few I have not (E series for 1). My favorite WAS the curado K.. casts incredibly well, very smooth, very strong, great reel but, a bit bulky and too heavy to hold all day. have said to myself numerous times. if they could only make this lighter, a bit smaller, and add the MGL spool it would be an absolute killer!!! there you have it, I now have 3 and will probably add a 4th....absolute perfection!!!

From: Bob: Pennsylvania 4/1/22

Comments: I really like this reel. Not only is it smooth but it cast effortlessly. The drag has this distinct feel to it I can't explain but its smooth. I put it on an Expride and haven't looked back. So far the reel has held up nice and clean the last few trips and has seen Largemouth, Smallmouth and Steelhead. Gonna add another to a 7'2"hvy for frogs, swimbaits etc.

From: Jed: California 3/14/22

Comments: Best reel I own. Very light and feels better than my Curado DC. Probably the best reel under $250. Would definitely buy more if boats weren't so expensive.

From: Unknown: Texas 3/10/22

Comments: Great reel, incredibly smooth. I have it on a Duckett pro series 7' 3" MH and I honestly prefer it over my Curado DC, it's smaller more palmable and more comfortable as I'm young and have small hands

From: Riley: Michigan 2/26/22

Comments: Started getting noisy after 3months. Saw a YouTube about the main bearing going bad and that it was a known issue. I returned it. Buying something else

From: Matt: Chandler, AZ 2/22/22

Comments: Exceptional reel. Purchased 3 of the reels. 2 of them in the 6:2 gear ratio and a 7:4. Smooth in all aspects. Very, very pleased. I would recommend to anyone.

From: Coach: Shell Knob, MO 2/17/22

Comments: OMG! I love this reel. Paired it up with a 7'2" HXF rod and laced it with 40# braid to eventually use as primarily my frogging set up and other purposes. I set the tension knob tight enough to stop the side to side movement of the spool. Brakes were set to three on and three off. External dial was put halfway. Finally got the rod out this weekend to primarily see how it casted. Put on a 1/2 oz bladed jig and gave it a whirl. It casted phenomenal. Never changed any of the settings. Just stuck with the original settings. I wanted to put on a lighter crank bait, 1/8 -1/4 oz. I did not feel like tying and retying my spinning gear so I threw it on my Curado set up because I had clip on it. To my surprise I could cast that small crank bait nearly as far as the bladed jig. Again, I never changed the settings from my original configuration. Very Impressed with this reel and the versatility.

From: Brian: Weatherford, TX 2/16/22

Comments: Purchased the HG version and BAM, there it is. Back to the Curado roots but with better form factor and castability. Love the size of the reel. It's a little larger than the 70's but not as big as the 200 and the spool is slightly wider than the 70 giving you a little extra space to thumb the spool. Not as smooth as the Met.B or Antares but for the price it's a bargain. Been throwing 1/8-1/2 lures on this baby and it handles everything fine.

From: Phil: Pennsylvania 2/2/22

Comments: I got this to pair with my DX 743C. This is an awesome finesse reel. The MGL spool is perfect for finesse tackle. Wacky worms, weightless senkos-worms, shaky heads, finesse jigs, etc! This reel is very reminiscent to the Metanium, except it looks better and much cheaper.

From: Justin: Splendora 1/5/22

Comments: ABOUT TIME IS ALL I CAN SAY!!!!! I HAVE FISHED CURADOS FOR YEARS AND USE MOSTLY METANIUMS NOW AND THIS REEL TO ME IS THE BEST CURADO EVER FOR REALS!!!! FOR POWER BAITS AND SOME OTHER THINGS ,THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED!! CASTS A MILE !! ABOUT TIME SHIMANO !!! PALMS BETTER THAN METANIUM DC'S !! FntSTIC REEL FOR THE MONEY AND THEY LAST FOR DECADES!!! GET ONE AND YOU WILL BE STOKED!!!!!!!!

From: Anthony:  Fort Worth, TX 12/30/21

Comments: Incredible Reel for this Price point...lightweight, casts super far...really smooth...I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

From: Unknown: 12/29/21

Comments: Absolutely phenomenal reel! Shimano didn't disappoint yet again. Been throwing it on a 7ft MH Castaway Skeleton for about a month now, and I have no complaints. It's smooth, sturdy, and light all at the same time. Will probably be picking up another one soon!

From: Thomas: Kentucky 11/13/21

Comments: Really fantastic reel. Palms very nicely. Some of the newer reels sit so low the become uncomfortable or force you to change your grip. This new frame allows you to comfortably fish it with different grip styles. Other than that, it holds a perfect amount of line especially if you fish 16lb plus mono and casts great. Smooth also. Plus, the green color is awesome bring back some of the curado roots!

From: Unknown: 10/24/21

Comments: On point ! This is how it's done. This is an amazing reel. It doesn't look much smaller than the 200, but It palms better IMO. Fit/finish is perfect ! I can cast a buzzbait into a decent head wind without issue, which is pretty impressive. Big fan of the MGL spools. The only real issue with this reel is that makes you want more of them.

From: Steve: Ontario, Canada 9/14/21

Comments: This is how a current Curado should feel. While the 200K is a great reel, it never felt like the older models. I've used the E and G models, liked them both, this reminds me of them in a lot of ways. I like this nearly as well as my Metanium B. Love Shimano, and Daiwa both, but this may be my favorite reel at this price. ( Though those darn SLX reels aren't far behind ) So many great options out, hard to pick a favorite!!!
