best chatterbait rod!!!!this rod is soooooo good if you love chatterbait fishing, but have little money to spend. This rod is super sensitive so you will feel every bite but still has a great backbone to set the hook HARD!!

BreakIt broke after not catching a fish through a whole summer because I had to get grass of the tip of my rod it broke in my hand will never buy st croix again and there warranty is pointless because you have to pay to get a replacement.

unbreakablebought the 7' 2" med heavy and it is just the perfect all purpose rod if you are getting to bass fishing. it is soft enough to cast 1/4 ounce baits and heavy enough to cast 1 1/3 ounce baits. i beat this rod everytime i take it out and it never dissapoints. it was even a good rod for the salmon run in the rivers which i did not expect.

7’1 MI got the 7’1 M for a topwater rod after seeing the TB guys recommend it. Honestly, I don’t really like the rod. It’s hard to explain the action of it but it’s just too fast for me. The tip is super soft but it loads to backbone way too fast. I like a more parabolic topwater rod so this wasn’t it for me. After seeing the action, I tried it for weightless worms and micro jigs. I still just feel like the tip was almost too soft for it. I just feel like there isn’t a technique that works on well on it. Also, there is almost no butt which makes it very uncomfortable for me. I can see where someone would like it, but it’s just not for me. If you’re looking for a treble hooked topwater rod, look somewhere else.

7’4 Heavy Fast Bass XBy far the best frogging/flipping/pitching rod I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned rods from Lew’s, Daiwa, Shimano, and so on, but this one tops them all. Paired with a Daiwa Tatula 100, it can cast a 3/8 oz cover jug a mile and a half. So worth the price.

Bass XI bought a 7'1 medium and fish it with 15 pound braid to 12 pound fluro leader usually. Works great for small jerkbaits, crankbaits, and even on some 3/16-1/4 oz swim jigs and spinner baits. Also works really well for small walking baits like the heddon spook Jr.

Good until it breaksHave had plenty of st croix rods, got 3 bass x casting rods and they work great until they break. All 3 of them broke doing nothing my other rods could not do.

Good Cranking Rod, Awkward GripUsed for throwing heavy crank baits with a 150 Tatula. Power/taper in 7'10" had only the foam handle available and feels uncomfortable with this reel after a few casts. Bought the heavy/fast which bends more like a moderate.

St. Croix Bass XFor the rod itself it’s a pretty ok rod it is expensive for the quality. looks pretty and all but once you get to the rod tip it’s crappy. they use the same size guide for the last seven guides and the guide holes are just too big for my liking especially for the last one.
