Joke of a rodThis rod makes me never want to buy a St. Croix rod again. Whoever came up with the Tri-gon grip should be fired immediately. Uncomfortable, less sensitive than the old mojo by a mile. Reel seat is constantly loosening. Just crap materials.

2nd ChanceGave this rod a 2nd chance. Previously had the 7’ HF and I wasn’t a fan. Got the 7’1 MHF and my opinion of the rod has changed. Like a typical Croix it’s got a softer tip which I love and is the perfect T-rig rod. For the purpose that I wanted it’s been amazing. I’ve always liked the trigon grip but still not the biggest fan of the plastic above it. However, it hasn’t bothered me like before and no issues of the reel nut coming loose. Hook keeper is kind of hard to use for rigged plastics and wish it was just an open ended one. Regardless I’ve been enjoying this rod and glad I gave it another try. Still think this is the most beautiful rod Croix makes but it’s overpriced.

If it’s not broke don’t fix itI love st croix rods and I don’t want to rip on them but someone at st croix needs to pull these rods from being sold immediately and go back to making the the older model of the mojo bass rods before they loose all credibility from being great quality rods. The old mojo bass rod was the best bang for the buck, it was a $150 rod that fished like competing brands $250 rods. These grips and the reel seats on the new mojo bass rods are junk and the triangle design just doesn’t work. I would pay $200 for a used old mojo bass rod with the regular round butt ends before dropping $170-250 on one of these new mojo bass rods with the triangle design. These trigon mojo bass rods feel like an $50 Walmart rod and an absolute disappointment to see st croix put this rod out for sale. Again I’ve always been a fan of st croix rods, they had the best budget rod on the market and I’m not alone on this, go to any website and look at the reviews. Bring back the old mojo bass rods and you’ll see sales skyrocket. You’re better off jumping up to a Legend Tournament bass rods before buying one of these new trigon mojos, but if I wanted to drop a lot of money on a rod I’d get a G Loomis, and for reaction techniques you just don’t need that sensitive of a rod. That’s where St Croix messed up, they had a $150 rod that was the best on the market and then they put out a garbage design that costs more and isn’t worth the money at all. I don’t know how st croix is still selling these, no one likes these grips and they’re destroying the brand they’ve built. They should cut their loses and pull these from their retailers, losing customers and destroying the brand they’ve built is going to cost way more than the loss of pulling these and putting them on clearance. If anyone has a contact at St Croix then calm the head honcho and tell them to wake up and smell the coffee, they tried fixing something that didn't need fixing and they’re going to have customers that buy their first st croix rod and write them off after trying this rod. Again I love St Croix and they had the hands down best rods in that middle of the road spot where you didn’t break the bank and still got a rod that was sensitive enough to feel those subtle bites, and just flat out felt good and comfortable in your hands to fish. St croix has really good top of the line rods too but anyone in the fishing community will tell you that G. Loomis is the clear winner when it comes to top of the line $400-500+ rods. St croix is probably #2 when it comes to those top of the line rods, but where st croix shined was that middle of the road rod like the old Mojo Bass that was still in budget rod area and they had the best rod for beginners all the way to anglers fishing tournaments every other weekend that could get a good rod for $150 without dropping $250. It blows my mind that they are still selling these, just look at the reviews of the old mojo bass rods and then look at the reviews of these new trigon rods, and you can look on any website and see the same general consensus. I’d spend more on a used old mojo bass rod before buying a new trigon mojo bass rod any day. St croix is fumbling big time by not pulling these triangle rods and going back to what has and what always will work with the old mojo bass design with regular round grips and a reel seat that isn’t junk

Love the new gripI have the 6' 10" ml/mf. I don't understand why so many people are complaining about the new grip. It is a significant upgrade over the short little stubby grip on the previous model. I really didn't like only having part of my hand on the old grip during the cast. It was awkward and uncomfortable. The new grip is definitely more comfortable for me. I will absolutely be getting at least one more MOJO and because of how much I also like the new spinning grip, I will be getting a Physyx(either 6' 10" or 7' 3" ml/xf).

Tell St Croix to recall this joke of a rodBiggest downgrade in the history of the fishing tackle industry. The triangle shape, no send it back. The cork, noticeably cheap. The real seat has too many issues. And the price went from $140-150 for the old mojo bass rods to $180-$220. I love st croix rods, and thier old Mojo Bass rods were the best bang for your buck rods out there for anglers at any skill level, beginner to pros fishing a circuit. But this new Trigon rod is a straight up ripoff, the fact that these rods are still available to buy is a joke. St Croix needs to pull every last one of these to fix the flaws and terrible cheap components that they used with the Trigon. The round split grips every angler loves, these odd shaped cheap cork and grips are garbage. They may take a hit pulling these from every store to discontinue or modify, but they had the best selling rod ever with the old mojo bass and then had someone who hasn’t ever fished design this Trigon rod. St croix is going to be the buggest joke in the fishing community if they don’t fix this major mistake, and I don’t mean on the next model rod the release in a year or two, I mean they are shooting themselves in the foot if they don’t pull this flawed rod from every store by the end of the month. This trigon rod is a straight up rip off and the worst $200 ever spent. Old mojo bass rods were the best rods I ever fished under $200-250, and they were only $140-150

Reel seat/handle is awful. The new reel seat and "Trigon" handle is a major step backwards. It is the single most uncomfortable rod I've ever used. It's way too skinny of a handle. Also, the reel seat goes too far back on the rod so my hand doesn't even touch the cork part of the handle when reeling. Furthermore, the trigger is 1/2 the size/length of a regular size trigger. As others have said, when I cast, I feel I'm going to accidentally throw the rod in the water. Nobody I fish with likes the new handle/reel seat. I literally fished with it for about 2 hours before I couldn't take it anymore. I'm currently trying to trade it on marketplace for something else. I've been bass fishing for 40 years and I have Dobyn's, Shimano, Kistler, Daiwa, 13, Fenwick and St. Croix rods. The Trigon is my least favorite of all my rods. Anyone wanna trade?!? Tight lines.

Hate The New GripI also got the Mojo Bass Trigon for a replacement of one that snapped in two. I have 12 of the old Mojo Bass rods. I hate the new grips. Feels like it's going to fly out of my hand every time I cast it. I don't know why St. Croix felt the need to change the grip, but I will not be buying anymore Mojo Bass rods. Guess I'll have to go to some other manufacturer. Maybe Lew's. What a shame.

Trigon handle is painfulMy older rod broke and it was replaced under warranty with the rod that had the Trigon handle. The handle is triangle shape that is not very ergonomic. It is smaller in diameter, as well. The shape doesn't really fit your hands and the smaller diameter increases fatigue. I returned it and paid extra for a victory rod instead.

Solid rod, no issues.I have the BFS model and it handles trebble baits like a dream and casts well. The handle design is neat but apart from casting I'm always palming the reel. I do like the smaller trigger as well. (I've also had 0 issues with the reel seat).

FlawsBeautiful rod but it has major flaws. That major flaw is the extremely cheaply made plastic reel seat. It never tightens properly and seems to want to unscrew itself. I don't understand why they did this. The Trigon grip while comfortable sits far too low when holding the rod so it makes no difference other than when casting. There is so much plastic on the reel seat that its just uncomfortable to use and gives me a lack of confidence that my real wont come undone.

Mojo BassRecently got this rod to replace a previous Mojo Bass that broke when I fell on it on my boat, totally my fault. Very pleased with the new version, and St Croix customer service is 2nd to none in my book. Highly recommend.

Comments: I recently got the 7'6 heavy as a flipping stick/ jig rod and I'm very pleased. It is sensitive in the tip but also has a lot of back gone to pull fish out of water willow and brush! The triangular shape handle feels very natural in the hand! Would highly recommend!
