Comments: This is my first SLP reel. I have the LFS series reels and they are great, However, I always wanted to try the SLP but was afraid they just wouldn't be up to par with the bigger, bulkier power LFS reels...Bigger is better right? Tackle warehouse had a great sale a couple of weeks ago on this reel and so I pulled the trigger. I am so glad I did. I can't believe how great this reel is. Quality materials and build. It's light, comfortable to palm, It cast so easily, so accurately, and it has powered every bass in without a sweat. This truly is a great reel and totally worth the full retail price, it was steal on sale.

Comments: This is hands down the best kept secret in my arsenal, I always recommend this reel to anyone with a budget or not looking for high end stuff. It's not expensive, it's buttery smooth, casts really far, so easy to dial it in, and I love it better than some of my most expensive reels. Casts light lures well, depending on how light you go. Not to much finesse fishing but Senko's are fine. Can't recommend this one enough.

Comments: Let me start off by saying I'm primarily a Shimano guy. Never gave Lew's a second look. Then a few months ago my dad ended up getting a Lew's Tournament MP. After fishing it a few times I was blown away. Completely changed my perspective that Lew's is just a mid tier brand catering to kids. I was in need of a new frog setup so instead of sticking with my comfort zone I decide to pull the trigger on a Lew's Custom SLP 8.3.1 and man I am absolutely blown away. The one piece aluminum frame is perfect for frogging and it absolutely bombs frogs. I'd put it on par or slightly further than my Curado DC and Scorpiom MGL. It's also very accurate, I'm capable of making well place/targeted casts within breaks in the cover easily. The only critique I have is the handle. It's not the worst at 95mm but it's not the best. I know it's replaceable and it's obviously not a deal breaker but I wish they put a 100 or 110mm handle on the 8 speed reels out of the box. It would make it absolutely perfect. If I was to rate this reel on a scale of 1-10 it's a solid 9.6 only losing points on the handle.

Comments: I got this reel yesterday and took it to the lake to make a few casts. The reel was incredibly smooth, and I could cast very accurately with it. It also casted very far, in fact as far as my Curado K. For the price I believe it is a very great reel. It's very low profile, and the braking systems make it easy to dial in.
