Building on Daiwa’s proven Ballistic platform, the Daiwa Ballistic MQ LT Spinning Reels are engineered with Daiwa’s most cutting-edge technologies to give anglers the most feature-packed reels at an affordable price. Built around a one-piece Monocoque Zaion V-Body, the Daiwa Ballistic MQ LT Spinning Reels dramatically reduce flexing and torque to create stronger reels with more power. They also house a larger Digigear, which gives anglers higher gear ratios and more cranking power than other reels of the same size on the market.
Taking durability to the next level, the Daiwa Ballistic MQ LT Spinning Reels feature Magsealed internals that completely blocks out the intrusion of water and other containments to increase their longevity. Backed by a Zaion V Air Rotor and Air Bail that decrease weight and reduce start up inertia for buttery smooth reeling performance, the Daiwa Ballistic MQ LT Spinning Reels deliver tournament-grade quality and performance avid anglers can rely on.

Comments: This is a great spinning reel. I have the previous Ballistic and this is a noticeable step up. The drag is silky smooth and I love the higher speed gear ratios. Well done, Daiwa.

Comments: I fish this reel inshore in Florida where its weight and mag seal provide advantages. The relatively light body seems to hold up against snook although the Daiwa Back Bay feels more robust handling bull redfish. These bigger salt species provide a more severe test on drag systems than bass and I have had no issues with this reel including handling an occasional black tip shark which invest our local waters. As an aside the Shimano Stradic holds its own with these nasties, whereas the Vanford feels wobbly and the drag seems to fatigue.

Comments: So far so good. Use it for Steelhead and salmon on rivers and it holds up to them plus currents. Great casting and drag. No complaints as of right now. Comparing this to the vanford and it has a better price. My buddy has a vanford but his already broke after only a year and half.

Comments: Very nice update to the previous version of the Ballistic. I'm comparing it to the Shimano Vanford, Stradic and Sustain as well. I paired my new 3000 series with a rod I previously used with a 3000 Vanford and a 3000 Stradic; the Ballistic casts better for sure. It's as smooth as the Vanford, but the Vanford has a better drag. My main gripe is that the new Ballistic still uses the black chrome finishes on some of the reel, and I have found that it corrodes and pits after a while.
