Redesigned with a combination of features to improve precision and functionality, the Daiwa Tatula 100 Casting Reels utilize Daiwa’s popular HyperDrive design concept that anglers have come to know and love from the Steez and Zillion lineups. HyperDrive design offers extreme durability, ultra-smooth retrieves, and powerful winding performance with Daiwa’s cornerstone HyperDrive DigiGear that’s built with large gear teeth to improve the strength and rotational feel for precise and comfortable winding.
The T-Wing System reduces friction on a cast by allowing the line to flow freely through the wide top section of the line guide, and the Ultimate Tournament Drag system engages smoothly and remains consistent throughout the entire drag range. Fitted with a compact 90mm swept handle and soft-touch handle knobs, the Daiwa Tatula 100 Casting Reels are a workhorse series of baitcasting reels that have been tested and proven on the highest levels of tournament bass fishing.

Daiwa Tatula 100This reel is awesome! I got just a few weeks ago and I love it! It casts a little crappie jig that weighs virtually nothing like a dream! It also casts my 5/8 ounce chatterbait sooo far! I am 13 years old and if you are a dad looking to get your son a bait caster that is a bang for your buck and will be very reliable, this is it! And it is very hard to backlash! (As long as you are using the right line)
Small reel big power!!First time using this reel I hooked into my PB striper 29 inches 12lbs and this little reel handled it no problem. Caught a bunch more stripers and largemouth with it and fished it in brackish/saltwater just fine.
Adding to my previous reviewI've seen people mistake line slipping with a broken drag when using braided line on this reel. The spool has no slot or holes for the braided line to hold onto, which results in the line slipping from the spool and making it seem like the drag does not work, even though the drag is on at its max when filling the spool with a straight braid. Since the spool is completely smooth, you'll need to put a few feet of mono or fluorocarbon line down and then tie the braid main line to prevent the braided line from slipping hope this helps.
Best conventional reel for the moneyThis little thing is one brute of a reel. Full aluminum construction and their higher-end "hyper-drive" features make this reel a steal. Super smooth, light, and comfortable to palm. The MagForce-z breaking system, which uses centrifugal force to get the spool rotor closer to the magnetic breaks at the peak of a cast, makes this reel truly a jack of all trades, allowing you to cast very light lures without backlashing. I cast lures weighing up to an ounce, at the heaviest, and weightless zoom super flukes at the lightest. Over all great reel and highly recommend it.
PoorUsed it one time and the drag is already broke on it, never touched the drag to begin with, for $200 you would think it’d be better quality.
Another oneI have zero idea how anyone can say a negative thing about this reel. It's a perfect size, light, smooth, casts a mile, and is problem free. I've done no kind of maintenance to mine...just straight out of the box, onto the rod, and out to the lake.
Hard to Top at Any PriceI have about 10 of these Tatula 100 reels. I can cast the lightest baits without ever backlashing. The mechanics are smooth as silk and the reels are light for all-day fishing. They're also some of the toughest reels I've ever used. All this with the beautiful finish make this one of the best reels at any price.
Good reel but overall was not satified.This was my first Diawa Reel. was exited to try these because diawa had a cult following. upon arrival I loved the feel, the asthetics and was exited to use it. upon using I liked the way it casted but it would make weird noises. like a grinding noise. the handles on these feel super small and just feels odd reeling in. while reeling here and there the reel makes gritty grinding noises even after oiling and greasing the reel. overall not terrible and still in use but I would rather buy a lews or shimano over another diawa.
Great Reel!Versatile, workhorse of a reel. For the price point I really don't think you need anything much more expensive than this reel. I had only used higher end Daiwa's before trying this reel and got one for a rod I don't use as often and I will be getting more. Highly Recommend!
Sweet Little ReelThis little thing is smooth and casts like butter! I have a Steez A2 and Antares DC 23, this doesn't compare to either but boy it's sure is a nice reel for the price!
Excellent Reel & PriceI bought this reel to put on my Trap rod and bought it exclusively because of the Hyper Drive Digigear technology that Diawa trickled down from the Zillion line of reels. I bought the new Zillion when it was first released in 2021 and it’s the best reel I’ve ever fished with. The retrieve on this new Tatula is butter smooth because of the new digigear teeth and it will dang near spool you on your cast with the A7075 light spool.
I honestly can’t tell that much of a difference between this new Tatula and the Zillion with same drive train. It’s the perfect size and weight and you are basically getting the Zillion technology at 1/2 the price minus the SV boost spool. You will not be disappointed in the new Tatula 100. It’s smooth as silk double pinion support and casting distance is incredible even with light lures. I’m not a Diawa fanboy either I have a mix of Diawa, Shimano and Lew’s reels that I use for different techniques. This reel is a winner
