Overview

Built for swimbaits, glide baits, and heavy-duty fishing techniques, the Daiwa Tatula 200 Casting Reel leverages Daiwa's HyperDrive design concept which significantly improves the function and lifespan of the reel. Featuring a Hyper Armed housing made of distortion-proof magnesium and aluminum frame that protects the gear unit within the reel body, the Tatula 200 Casting Reel bolsters performance with HyperDrive Digigears that use larger teeth in the traction wheel to increase the reel’s strength while maintaining a very smooth feel.

Designed with a braking system that slows the spool speed through magnetic force to prevent line overrun, the Tatula 200 boasts a Magforce Deep Spool that caters to the heavier lines needed for chucking and winding large baits. Planned around Daiwa’s Long Cast (LC) concept to increase casting distances with better line flow, the Tatula 200 also delivers tons of fish-stopping power through the oversized carbon drag washers in the Ultimate Tournament Drag (UTD). Armed with a 100mm swept handle and oversized I-Shape knobs for easy and comfortable control of larger baits, the Daiwa Tatula 200 Casting Reel is the perfect big game fishing reel for freshwater environments.

-Hyperdrive Design
-Hyperdrive Digigear/Hyper Armed Housing

Amazing ReelI have two of these and I am so shocked. I have the older model as well and I have to say Daiwa has stepped it up with the new one. I am a swimbait guy and I threw anywhere from 1oz-11oz on this reel and I’m amazed. It casts amazing and is very powerful for a 200 size reel. Matt I would say set your brakes at around 8-10 initially and adjust accordingly.

Great reelGreat reel for frogging long casts with swim baits or big cranks I love this reel so far for many applications. Hey Matt, maybe set your brakes a little higher than 2 that’s a recipe for blowing up the reel it’s meant for long casts hence the long cast concept in the reel.

Idk what happened to the tatulaI have other tatulas in the older models with the wider spool, so i got this to be my new topwater frog/rat reel and spooled it with 50lb braid. I had to completely loosen the tension knob to cast more than 10 feet with the brakes set to 2. I tighten the tension knob slightly, set the brakes to 1 and its backlash city. Mind, i'm throwing a 1/2-3/4oz frog. Its so bad, even when just trying to flip the frog into little pockets 5-10 ft in front of me it just went straight up in the air or would get hung in a tree because it wouldn't release tension... (even with tension knob loose and NO BRAKES) So I kept the tension knob loose all day and lost it as it was barely tightened. I was able to take an old fuego knob and put it on. fished it for another week hoping maybe it needed to be broken in or something... nope. Couldn't cast the damn thing more than 10 yards or getting severely backlashed, and lost that knob as well. This thing sucks, wish I went with shimano for the higher gear ratio and paid more money. highly disappointed in it. Do not recommend. Sincerely, a bummed out frog man.

Best reel I’ve ever hadBest all around reel I’ve ever owned. Fished heavy jigheads to crankbaits and felt perfect. Compared it to my curado dc and felt miles better.
