Comments: Good build quality. Feels good in the hand. Used the medium-light with a Stradic 4000 - ok balance - one reel lighter would balance better. I used this for Bone fish - plenty strong, and would also work for light permit. I really like this rod! I may need a heavier weight for heavier fish.

Comments: I recently purchased three St Croix multiple piece rods for a trip into Minnesotas Basswood Lake (the motorized portion). One of the rods was an Avid Trek ATS76MF3 and it performed flawlessly while fighting and landing multiple 3 to 4 1/2 lb smallmouth bass. The rod performed like a one piece rod without any discernible flat spots whatsoever. The included case is quite nice but would be enhanced by being just a little larger to accommodate the large sized line guide. I've had very few problems with St Croix rods over the years but on two occasions when I did have problems they were handled in a very professional and equitable manner. I would highly recommend this rod.

Comments: In 4 months I have gone through 4 avid trek 3 piece rods. I love that they pack down easy to hike into the river. But as far as quality goes I would advise anyone to avoid this rod. I have had 4 rods break at the tip on the eyelid joint. Each rod lasted about one month if I was lucky. For the price of this rod I would reccomend you avoid it or you will be dissatisfied just like I was with a broken tip on the river. Ontop of that the so called 15 year warranty means nothing because they charge you $50 dollars plus shipping to replace the top piece of the 3 piece rod that keeps snapping. I have owed St Croix rods my whole life never had a problem but this avid trek 3 piece is by far the worst quality rod I have ever seen them make do yourself a favor and don't buy this unless you like dealing with warranty claims over and over again.

Comments: I purchased the 7' ml to mainly target smaller inshore species and bass fishing. I haven't had much success with the workmanship of St. Crioix's Avids. I recently returned several due defects and poor quality control issues. However, I am extremely pleased with the Avid Trek's build and quality. Definitely looks and feel like a product proudly made in the USA. No sloppy workmanship and everything is immaculate. The guides look awesome and very durable. The rod has a very soft tip to throw light baits, but good backbone to land fish. The only negative is it lacks the connection dots to help align the guides straight when assembling. That should have been a no brainer, especially on a 3pc rod. It would have been extremely helpful out on the water. Overall, I'm a happy customer, and the Avid Trek exemplifies St. Croix's pursuit of building the world's best rods.
