Comments: Just got this rod in the 7'6" hvy. Caught my first fish with it yesterday and it did it's job perfectly I was able to just grind a decent fish out of some really nasty healthy thick tulies. It not super light but it has some power!

From: Bill: Washington 5/16/23

Comments: I wouldn't recommend these. I snapped 1 casting a bait and another on a 4 lb. bass just playing him along the boat

From: Derek: Tyler, TX 3/23/22

Comments: I have owned and used the Lews American Hero casting rods since they first came out in my area, at least 8 yrs ago. Over the years I have bought quite a few of these rods, from 7 ft medium upto 7'6" heavy, and have only had trouble with one of them. Totally my fault. Heavily fished these rods in many tournaments, with our teen angler club  and anyone else who comes on my boat, no problems. I continue to buy them as they give great service, are sensitive, and take abuse well. I will continue to buy more as needed.

From: Mike: Okeechobee, FL 2/8/21

Comments: I purchased the 7'6 heavy for a flippin stick about 5 years ago and have abused it every week flippin in central florida winching out fish in pure junk. can not beat the rod for the money.

From: TP: Florida 6/9/20

Comments: This rod works very well for me. It was even able to handle a 20 lb salmon very well and I use it along with my more expensive combos. Must have gotten one of the good ones

From: Unknown: 4/10/20

Comments: I purchased 2 of these American Hero Speed Stick Casting Rods on April 1, 2018.. They are both in the garbage can where they belong. These cheap rods are absolute garbage; both rods snapped in the middle. One with a fish on the end and the other while casting a Texas Rig. I like Lew's brand and maybe I should have spent a bit more money and gotten the better rods. Lesson learned for sure.

From: Clint Crawford: Danbury, WI 5/18/19

Comments: I've had my American Hero for 2 years. This was my first bait caster and preformed pretty well. This rod is for the beginner to intermediate bass fisherman. Doesn't really work well with braid but it will do and not as sensitive as other rods, but it's still a good rod. I am ruff with my rods and have only broke the tip so far because in got caught in a tailgate, but that's not the rod's fault. For the price this is a great rod and you should get it.

From: Jace Cullom: Mississippi 5/8/18

Comments: DO NOT BUY!!! Me and my friends all love Lews but their rods are garbage. They feel great and are sensative, but, they have all broken. I got this rod and was amazed by it for the price. I used it about 3 times for smallmouth and the tip snaped clean off about 6 inches from the tip! So I got a refund for a new one, Lord and behold, first time using it I caught 4, 3 pounders and I go to cast and SNAP! It snapped right in the middle casting a quarter oz. spinner! I will never buy a lews rod again, their reels are nice but their rods aren't worth it.

From: Ryan - Pennsylvania 12/13/17

Comments: I've had the 7' MH for about a year now and its actually my first baitcaster rod. I mostly fish the weekends from sun up to sun down and this rod has held up to alot of big bass. Good sensitivity and great backbone, flipped plenty fish on 2' high banks. My only problem is the inner piece on the eyelids start to loose and my come off but overall a great rod for the price

From: Chopp: New Orleans LA 8/10/17

Comments: I've owned this rod for going on two years. I've caught many big bass, ranging from 6-8 pounds, and this rod has performed perfectly. You cannot ask for anything more out of a budget rod. Coming from Lew's, you cannot be it.

From: Tyler 7/2/17

Comments: I have had my 7' M for about 1-2yrs now. Very light and sensitive for the price. Great rod and I have had no problems with it. Balances well with the American Hero Speed Spool I purchased with it.

From: Marcus: Tampa, Fl 5/29/17

Comments: I got one it felt nice in the hand never taught a bass on it and it broke on a cast so I sent it back and i got a new one and I never even got it on the water it just snapped mid cast in my yard I didn't hit it off anything it just snapped.

From: Unknown - 4/27/17

Comments: I've had this rod for over a year and i am very rough on my rods. This rod has been put through everything and is still putting in work. the perfect budget

From: rod 4/26/17

Comments: This is a very light and sensitive rod but it is cheeply made. I was using this rod yesterday with a 3/8 ounce spinnerbait and the first cast of the day it snapped mid cast. I take care of my rods very well and it did not have a crack in the rod or anything. I was using the rod the day before that using the same spinnerbait and I had no problems what so ever.

From: Blake: Georgia 4/3/17

Comments: I pick it up over my duckett ghosts time and time again amazing I have had 2 of the 7' MH one got stolen and the other is still trucking amazing rod. 9/10

From: Greysont: AL 1/6/17

Comments: This is a great rod for those who cannot afford a higher end casting rod. It is great for the money and I would recommend it to someone who isnt looking for higher quality equipment. However, this rod is delicate and broke on me when I barely liftef the tip off the ground. Also, the hook keeper is a terrible location.

From: Thomas: Clemson, SC 8/14/16

Comments: Bought the 7'6 heavy to throw hudd 68's, S-waver 168 and BBz rat. The lure weight was initially listed at 4oz but that was corrected to 2oz so these baits will load the rod up more than expected. It still works fine so far. I've caught 2 bass using this rod for c-rigging and it works good, nice value and build.

From: JohnR: San Diego, CA 6/19/15

Comments: I just purchased lews American 7'6 for flippin. We'll balanced its a awesome rod first flip I Caught a 5lber in a Nasty mat and hossed him out with no problem 70$ can't be beat! And it's awesome that lews is giving a portion to our troops.

From: Tanner: Dover, FL 2/5/15

Comments: Got the 7' 6" and it's perfect for throwing big swimbaits. I was absolutely speechless on how this works, it's very balanced in your hand and has a beautiful action. For 70 dollars it can not be beat.

From: Coleman: Dallas, TX 11/13/14

Comments: The 7'6" heavy rod is a great starter rod to toss swimbaits with! I can launch 68's with ease and it's my rod I test my home builds with. This is the rod to get to see if swimbaiting is for you! Doesn't cost a lot and is a perfect rod for the swimbaiter on a budget!

From: 702Bassdude: Sin City, NV 10/27/14

Comments: bought a 7' med hvy it great caught trout n bass n even striped bass on it..the only thing i hate about it is the handle grip (the short plastic grip) after a few jerk of a jerkbait the plastic grip will make your hand lost the grip n you will start to get cramp in you hand..

From: John: San Luis Obispo, CA 10/7/14

Comments: Very light in the hand and the actions feel great. Buy just one, you'll see...you will buy more. It just does NOT feel like a cheap rod, yet pricewise, it is.

From: Jay6: USA 6/27/14

Comments: For the money, these rods are hard to beat.  I bought 3 around Christmas and have now added several more to my setup.  For an IM6 blank, these rods are very sensitive and are strong.  I have 4 different flipping/pitching setups and all are rigged on the Lews American Hero Rods.  About to purchase the 7'6 for puching mats.  Paired with Lews reels, these rods are SWEET!!

From: Jacob: Prairieville, LA 5/11/14

Comments: Just pickup two of the 7'6" rods and perfect for my big swimbaits. Sensitivity and strength is phenomenal. Only downfall is the hook keeper is in a terrible location. I would recommend this rod to anybody that don't want to empty the wallet for a quality rod.

From: Noel: San Jose, CA 5/5/14

Comments: I have the 7' MH that I use for squarebills and it is a very good rod. Very light and very good action. I have caught over 20 fish on it so far and it's still going strong. Had it for about 3 weeks now. Seems to be just as good as any other $100+ rod. Awesome price so get you one and try it out.
