Comments: A cheap reel that feels a bit cheap and flexes some under pressure, but casts nicely and reels smooth. The biggest fish I've landed with this was a strong 30" pike with a giant head, reel handled the power of the fish well enough. Easy to adjust in order to prevent backlash. Overall, I've got nicer reels that I prefer to fish with, but can easily recommend this if it matches your fishing budget.

Comments: Purchased a couple of these reels at Christmas time. Absolutely love the casting distance I get with these reels. Recently used this reel with a Daiwa Aird-X Heavy rod and was horsing bass out of slop with ease. Fished a hollow body frog for 2 full days and didn't get tired at all. Really good drag and ease of casting. Would highly recommend.

Comments: Maybe I'm cheap, maybe I'm kind of a noob, who knows, but this is the most expensive reel I own. I have a bunch of lews classic pros, a black max, and a origin r1s. They all work fine. I kinda love the lews for the price. Yes. Even for a just a few extra bucks, the CR-80 is a wee bit smoother. But most importantly, I flat out LOVE the 80-size reel frame. It's so comfortable and easy to palm, it's a MUST HAVE for any dedicated jerkbait combo (whether it's a trauma 80, ca, cc, or cr 80). Soooooo much easier in the wrist for all that motion. Anyway, my 2 cents, which I don't give away easily, is that the cr80 is by far my first choice at the $100/under range (itâs lighter than the ca80).

Comments: This is my first Daiwa. Good reel. Handle is not as comfortable as a shimano at the same price point. But all around good reel.

Comments: Great reel for the price. Has a great feel and is very smooth when casting. I like it as good as some of my higher priced reels.

Comments: Great reel for the price, my only reel that I like better is the shimano slx, and this is a very close second! Works well and has never given me issues.

Comments: I bought this reel with high hopes since it was going to be the first bait caster I had purchased and I am extremely happy with the daiwa casting reel cr 80 it's smooth the drag is amazingly on point where it's needed super light and comfortable in my hand while retrieving my bait 5 stars for me

Comments: bought this so I can keep it down at the local tackle shop for fishing after school and had it paired with a $60 shimano zellus and its a nice reel. very smooth, good drag and plenty enough line capacity. my only gripe was the other day while jerkbait fishing the anti reverse bearing slipped pretty bad resulting in a nasty backlash. I would buy this reel again but i still have trust in diawa.

Comments: Recently bought the Daiwa CR80. I'm on a budget so I needed a cheaper reel for my Shimano Sellus to jig fish with. This reel is great for the price. I have had no issues and caught plenty of fish with it already. Great product for the price.

Comments:I purchased this reel due to the price. I have never owned a Daiwa baitcasting reel before, so I did not know what to expect. I took it out and tied on a chatterbait and the 5th cast I hooked into a 3lb north woods largemouth. The reel was super smooth and handled the fish perfectly! I am extremely happy with it, and I love that the gear ratio is 6:8:1. It is not a burner and it is not a slow roller. It is the perfect powered reel for me. I may be switching to more Daiwa reels in the near future

Comments: Ok where do i start,I stared out on a crappy plastic baitcaister and i must say this reel is the best bar none. There are soiled gears and a good frame and i now own two of the big bad.... well slim bad boys,And i am very proud to own this and i love both of them one carrying a co-polomar and florocarbon depending on what i buy and one holding braid and one on a daiwa Arid-x mdh fast action and one on a Daiwa Arid-x Heavy Fast action and both preform like a high end set up and they are both amazing. I will recomend this to the budget angler how ever i have not tried the shimano Caius B so i can not speak of that but hopefully i will be able to soon but until then this is the way to go hands down.

Comments: i ordered one for Christmass and i used it just a little bit and the brakes stopped adjusting so isent it back and got a shimano caius b. then i ordered it agian and the drag makes noises off one fish. DONT BUY THIS REEL. BUY A SHIMANO CAIUS B.

Comments: This is a pretty decent reel. I tried to put together a good all around budget setup and it does great. I have this reel on a St. Croix Bass X. Very smooth for the price and I would recommend it to anyone out there. This reel does not feel cheap at all. This reel only took me a little while to dial it in, but once I did it was like butter.

Comments: The Daiwa CR80 is a great reel! To start off I have only had one minor backlash using this reel, and it was my first cast, dialing it in. (I have had this reel for months and fish often.) I have done everything with this reel and it has held up phenomenally. I purchased the HS 7:5:1 and can cover a ton of techniques. At 6.9oz very comfortable dare I say light weight reel. The grips are so nice to feel and rotate, and the thumb bar is good and confirming. All together the reel is very low profile and sleek. The black with hints of greyish silver is a very cool finish to Match any rod. It's not real durable with the carbon resin frame on the sides. Although what reel doesn't get beat up when your a pond fisherman. For the price it is worth a ton more. The breaks are outstanding put it 70% between free and max and tighten up your tension knob and you will not have a problem. Over all very solid reel and a great new addition from Daiwa will buy from them again. P.S. Found this reel off the Tactical Bassing $200 combo Video.

Comments: I have just recently bought this reel im big into bass fishing and I need another solid baitcaster this is an ok reel the casting distance is not great and if i try adjusting it to where i can cast further it back lashes a lot

Comments:I bought this reel a few months ago as a backup. It has been used only a few times. All of a sudden the drag will not lock down or tighten up. I have not even caught a fish with this reel and it's already trashed. I'm a big Daiwa fan, but this reel is garbage.
From: Scott: Georgia 10/23/19
Comments:Bought this for light weight swim jigs and swim baits under 4.8 size and had the gearing strip out in less than 6 months of occasional use.
From: Tim L:Cool, CA 5/27/19
Comments:Solid casting reel. Got it in the 7.5.1 ratio and used it for bottom bouncing baits jigs, Texas rigs, and c-rigs. Great value for 80 bucks. Handles are perfect for a normal hand size and casts good.
