Overview

Just when you thought the Tatula SV reel could not get any better, the Daiwa Tatula SV TW Casting Reel is totally redesigned to be the smallest, lightest and most stress-free reel Daiwa has ever created. Coming in at a featherweight 6.7oz thanks to its aluminum frame, the Daiwa Tatula SV TW Casting Reel features the patented SV Spool and Airbrake technology that works together to minimize backlash and achieve extreme castability with unmatched control by using both magnetic braking and centrifugal braking systems.

For improved functionality, it is equipped with Daiwa’s Zero Adjust spool that provides settings to finely tune spool tension and the legendary T-Wing level wind, which opens up the line feed for longer, more accurate casts. It also features U.T.D(Ultimate Tournament Drag) for unmatched power and a swept handle with soft touch handle knobs for increased control. Tatula SV ReelPurchased reel to skip baits under docks and trees. Reel is super smooth and casts like a dream. You won’t be disappointed.

Great ReelI would buy this over any 500$ reel out there. The TWS is amazing and casts lures of all sizes in its weight range with ease and without backlash. My only complaint is that the spool rattles when reeling crankbaits and chatterbaits straight on.

SmoooothSmooth as butter and casts a mile. Extremely impressed with this reel. The 2017 version feels a little better put together in your hand but this reel is smaller and lighter and casts amazingly!

One of the most versatile reels I ownI love the SV TWS and SV TW reels… with the nod going to the newer SV TW for its light lure versatility. I use the SV TW for 3/16 - 1/16 finesse type lures. I also use a Roro bfs spool for true bfs performance on one of my SV TW reels. Casting/braking is fantastic, drag is super smooth, very palmable and comfortable to fish with.

Love the SV spool!!!Used many mid-budget reels before never felt something as smooth and efficient as the SV spool from Diawa. Definitely would recommend for anyone looking to throw lightweight lures(1/8ou - 1/4 ou). Personally use this reel for light jigs/ned rigs and small jerkbaits.

Excellent Reels!I own 3 Tatula casting reels. They're excellent. Not a single issue with any one of them. The good backlash control reviews and a desire to try a left-hand retrieve reel moved me to try one. Try one. You won't be disappointed.

Comments: This is one of the best baitcast reels I have ever used, if not THE best. It is SO easy to adjust. I would pretty much just leave the spool tension setting alone and use just the magnetic brake. I spooled it with 17 pound copolymer and I can BOMB a cast with a weightless rage shad or ribbit, or a 1/4 ounce buzzbait. The reel is BUTTER smooth and it is VERY difficult to backlash this reel. I've always been a Curado guy and they are great reels when dialed in. But this is honestly better, especially with the ease of dialing it in.

From: Tyler: Grand Junction, Colorado 10/3/23

Comments: This reel is great. Bomb cast a DT 10 into the wind no problem. This reel really shines when it is windy outside. Cast further and easier than the regular Tatula 100.

From: Unknown: PA 8/10/23

Comments: I purchased this for a flipping reel and it works great. Very lightweight and fits in hands great. I like the T wing which allows for low resistance easy flipping.

From: Unknown: 6/29/23

Comments: This is by far the easiest baitcasting reel to use. I think you would have to purposely try to backlash the spool. I recommend this reel 100% to anyone that struggles with casting a casting style reel.

From: Barry: Pittsburgh, Pa 4/17/23

Comments: DONT READ ANY OTHER REVIEWS!!! ALL OF THEM SAID THIS REEL IS STRAIGHT UP FIRE, SO GOOD omygoodness!!!. Like dont sit and read 65 paragraphs. (I mean if you want) BUT LIKE mann this thing is magnificinet in every way possible-- here is the list---- palmable, smooth, rugged, heavy duty, sexy, megacasting, super mega un-never-backlash-able. Yeah everything you want in a reel :) GET IT

From: Azarel: Iowa 4/10/23

Comments: Love this reel - it's very low profile and you can bomb casts with the correct settings dialed in. The zero adjust spool tension was weird to me at first - feels like you're skipping a step, but it works! Set your brakes and you're good to go! I have used it on a couple very windy days with no issues whatsoever. You really can cast one-handed and let the bait hit the water without backlash IF you have the settings adjusted correctly not really sure why you would wanna do that other than flexing on social media, but you can. Only potential downside to this reel is it might be a little tough to thumb if you have sausage fingers! If you buy this reel, you won't be disappointed.

From: Danny: IL 4/6/23

Comments: Just got one of these from japan and took it out today as soon as It arrived. It's a very smooth reel, very easy to use. I like it much more than my SLX DC's, It was cheaper (ordered from japan at least), better distance, and more control of the braking. I still like my SLX XT's but I will more than likely be looking to replace my DC's with more Tatula SV's. I would highly recommend the Tatula SV for beginners, this spool is really something. Whipping out a finesse swimbait on a 1/8 head, against the wind, loosened tension, and brakes turned down to 5. The reel wanted to overrun and backlash but the sv spool really did its job and it worked out the overrun line. The SLX DC's sales pitch was the thumbless casting which was kind of bogus because it's pretty easy to backlash a DC. I was bombing outcasts with the Tatula with only 1/4 of the brakes on in the wind and actually not having to thumb the spool at all.

From: Simon: Tennessee 3/21/23

Comments: For my money, Tatula SVs are the best reel at the best price. Casts further with fewer backlashes than the old Curados and Lew's Speed Spools I used to use. You can really dial this reel into whatever weight lure you are throwing and the T-wing system does help your casts go farther. One side benefit is this is the perfect reel to teach a novice how to cast a bait caster, as one comment below proves.

From: Unknown: 2/9/23

Comments: I'm not brand specific when it comes to reels, but got this reel and was really impressed, can throw light and heavy baits so for the money I think this is a steal for the money.

From: Unknown: Paulina 1/19/23

Comments: Great reel. Bought it for my 10yr old son. He was using the slx dc reel, but this one does much better with backlash for him. Especially with lighter lures.

From: Unknown: 1/9/23

Comments: Worth the purchase 100%. Very smooth casts extremely well, and is lightweight. Line comes off spool super easy and also skipping 3/8oz or 1/2oz jigs is considerably easier. All of the talk behind this reel and how well it performs is accurate as can be. My personal preference for reel selections.

From: Unknown: 1/6/23

Comments: I'm not gonna say it's magic, but it might be MAGIC!! first I am not brand loyal to reels. I have plenty from all the players. my MVP is the Shimano 150MGL. but... I chose the Tatula SV TW. I spooled it with 50lb PowerPro braid. I did use a mono backing and managed to get about 50 yards of braid to load up nicely. I attached it to a MegaBass Levante Perfect Pitch rod. it casts like a dream. (still getting used to the rod). but here is the magic part. for the first time in my life, I was skipping a bait!!! the bait was a baby brush hog Texas rigged with a 1/2 bullet. not the best skipping bait, but it was skipping. I flubbed a few cast and was able to take out the backlash easily. but set per factory recommendations, with the spool just clicking side to side in freespool, and the brake at 75%, I can finally skip. and that is saying something. I havent gotten a bass to cooperate so I cannot speak to the drag or fightingness of it all, but it can skip!!

From: Unknown: 11/1/22

Comments: Bought one of these early this year (8.1), I now have two more (7.1), will end replacing all my other reels with these. Cast incredibly long, can skip cast much easier, very few backlashes, can't express how much I like these reels, great job Daiwa. The only thing I'll have to wait and see on is durability, my greenies have lasted and worked well for over 15 years.

From: Randy: Illinois 8/6/22

Comments: Great reel no backlash . Cast a mile lite as a feather. Very happy with it.

From: Tom: Chicago Il. 8/4/22

Comments: I like this reel a lot. Bought it primarily to throw structure jigs and it works fine for that. I recently used it to throw weightless wacky senkos and was amazed how well it does that. Very smooth, minimal back lashes. Will probably get more.

From: Pat: California 6/23/22

Comments: Awesome reel very user friendly almost impressed no backlash very smooth well made reel I would defined recommend this reel for people whom are just getting in to baitcasting reels

From: Justin: Saddle Brook NJ 6/16/22

Comments: Im 70 years old, and started fishing before I can remember doing anything else that became an important of my life. Saying this, you can imagine the amout of fishing tackle thats been through my hands over all these years, and still continues even more so today. Daiwa has been there through it all for me. When it comes to spending ones hard earned money on casting reels, it makes the cut every time. The SV TW casting reel is an amazing example of why I will continue to buy Daiwa reels. If you open the rod locker on this old mans Phoenix 21 PHX, your going to fine lots of Daiwa Tatulas and the SV TW will be on top waiting to go to work. Seriously all this aside, when you cast this amazing reel, all your questions will quickly be answered, and by the end of your day on the water, your face is going to hurt from all that smiling.

From: Frank: Torrington, WY 6/11/22

Comments: Fantastic reel, I have 4 of them and the reliability, castibility and smoothness are unmatched. It is just about impossible to backlash and incredibly quiet. At the 200 dollar price point the Daiwa Tatula SV TW can't be beat.

From: Conway: Jones Creek, MD 5/26/22

Comments: Having trouble with its "one adjustment knob only" idea. Cannot throw light jerk baits as easily as with Shimano Aldebaran on same rod. Tried small changes on cast control knob even though media says not necessary. Didn't help much.

From: Bill: San Diego, CA 5/25/22

Comments: Given that my recent purchase is my third Tatula SV TW reel I obviously love the product. It is smooth casting, light and reliable. It is an excellent all-purpose product.

From: Al: Pennsylvania 5/6/22

Comments: I bought a Daiwa Tatula SV TW 2020 for a chatterbait rod I have and I've noticed that even with the drag maxed out I am able to pull line very easily. I've read and reread the spooling instructions to make sure I didn't miss anything and I stopped using braid and went straight 20lb Daiwa J-Fluoro Samurai Fluorocarbon.. Other then that issue the reel seems nice!

From: Unknown: Arizona 4/15/22

Comments: Great reel! Just bought the second one. I am a Walleye fisherman and, this is a super reel for walleye fishing. It's small and light and, available with right or left hand retrieve. Well done Daiwa!

From: Greg : South Dakota 4/12/22

Comments: I absolutely love Daiwa and have a lot of their rods and reels including some of the Steez line. I tried these reel's and they are nice but I don't think they're much nicer than the cheaper Tatula reels and I have 2 other models. They're no smoother and the only thing is they are just a scosche lighter. For the money I honestly would get the cheaper models and believe me I'm usually the type that says you get what you pay for.

From: Unknown: 3/25/22

Comments: I'm generally a Shimano guy 90% of the time, but I couldn't find one I really liked or didn't already have come tax return time, so I decided I'd try Daiwa and see how I like them. DUDE... This reel is AWESOME! I use it on a 7'2 general purpose crankbait setup and it will throw everything from mini squarebills to medium divers down to 14ft and 3/4oz a mile no problem! I can even get it to throw a shad rap, no spinning rod required. This is coming from someone with over 20 years experience and I use both American and JDM Shimano reels. This little dude is light, smooth and very comfortable to use to the point my mind just goes on autopilot and I don't even have to try or even look at it when casting it. 10/10 will buy again and put on a new jerkbait combo. It's actually comparable or even better than some of my JDM Shimano MGL reels at a lower price!

From: Jeremiah: Atlanta, GA 3/17/22

Comments: These reels are light cast like a dream both light and heavy baits probably gonna get a couple more for sure

From: Billy: Unkown 2/15/22

Comments: This reel is awesome. It's small, light, and fits great in my hand. I've got it on a light action phenix feather now and it can cast a 1/10 oz Ned a mile without backlashing. I love the T-wing because it allows for a smooth cast even with a leader knot. It's a smooth reel but it's kind of loud, I'd have to assume it's the worm gear, that may be a deterrent for some people.

From: Reece: Kansas 2/9/22

Comments: I use Shimano Curados and Daiwa Tatulas. The Tatula is super smooth and casts a mile with very little chance of backlash. The one and only thing I dislike about the Tatula is the T wing will not allow a leader line knot to pass through it and I run a lot of braid to Fluoro setups. I have about 6-7 Tatulas and use them for my straight braid or straight Fluoro setups and stick with my Shimanos for braid to Fluoro setups.

From: Mac: San Diego, CA 1/22/22

Comments: I own about a dozen Tatulas and the Tatula SV TW, being one of them is a really great reel. Very happy with it. Easy smooth casting and you can cast a bait further than any other brand reels that I have owned. Even with lighter baits, the Tatula SV TW can get them out to your spot. Heck, most people using spinning gear to drop shot fish, and with the Tatula SV TW, I have often fished trouble free using a medium bait casting rod. To sum it up in a nutshell....I fish sometimes 3-4 times a week at times and it's a really great reel and you honestly can't go wrong picking one up.

From: Unknown: San Diego, CA 1/6/22

Comments: After many years bass fishing, I have become a Daiwa man. The Tatula SV TW is a superb reel. Long, smooth casting, excellent drag, and near impossible to backlash. I now have five.

From: Bill: Colorado 12/30/21

Comments: Terrible real. Right out of the box it just sounded terrible. Breaks were constantly moving around and wouldn't stay in place.

From: Drew: Hurricane, WV 12/30/21

Comments: This is my third sv tw. Great reels, never had an issue from anything from diawa. Usually don't have to adjust them. This is from my worming rod, so it will be throwing weightless a lot of the time. I have 5 baitcasters. All of them are tatula models.

From: Dustin: Georgia 12/26/21

Comments: I own 6 of these reels and they're all fantastic except for one. It makes a lot of noise when casting and retrieving. Not sure what the problem is. I guess you get a dud every once in a while. Attempted to pull it apart and inspect it and grease it where needed and it didn't help. Hopefully Daiwa or TW will resolve the issue. Other than that it's a killer reel. 10/10 recommend.

Update: I had a little bit of noise from one of my reels, TW was prompt about addressing the issue. I ended up pulling the pinion gear and cleaning it, and fixed it so I didn't have to send the reel back. However they did offer to help, so I appreciate them reaching out and offering assistance. Other than that one lemon, I own 6 of these now and they're all so good. Hands down my favorite reel for the price point. Casts a mile, buttery smooth, and the SV spool helps a ton casting lighter baits. I've used them for anything from weightless flukes to 6" MagDrafts, and it handles them all no problem. If you're on the fence just buy one. You won't regret it.

From: Alan: Tennessee 10/30/21

Comments: Bought this reel to pair with a Daiwa Rebellion 7' ML 1/8-1/2 for a somewhat BFS setup. Overall it feels really good and casts lighter baits a good distance. Feels about as good as the Tatula Elite but also about the same as my Tatula 100 but with slightly lower line capacity. Chose the SV over the Shimano MGL and BFS series for the added versatility at the expense of specialization but I'm okay with that. Probably wouldn't buy another one for multipurpose use as it doesn't seem any better than my 100 but I'm glad I have this one

From: Dave: New Jersey 10/21/21

Comments: This reel was purchased primarily for skipping under docks. It instantly made me better at it.

From: Unknown: 9/22/21

Comments: This reel is the best I have found for the money. I own a curado 200k, a Lews Custom Lite, a Abu Garcia Revo Sx. I wanted to see what I would like better and when I'm ready for another reel, my money will be on Daiwa.

From: Unknown: 9/2/21

Comments: I absolutely love the reel as always diawa out performs out lasts every other reel I have got !!

From: Logan: Canton: OH 8/30/21

Comments: Nice, light, smooth casting reel. I have used it extensively since finally being able to return to my cottage in Canada and it has performed up to expectations. With that said, I bought the Tatula to save a little money. My "go to" reels are Shimano Chronarch. If money is not an object I find the Chronarch to be a better choice.

From: Al: Pennsylvania 8/28/21

Comments: Love the Daiwa reel product line! The Tatula reels are the only reels on ny front deck. The SV TW is extremely light and a very strong reel!

From: Jay: Virginia 7/9/21

Comments: Haven't had chance to use it much. But the little bit I have used it. Definitely a nice reel. Cast super smooth. Noticably better then the tatula ct.

From: Nick: Illinois 6/25/21

Comments: I bought this reel back in December and I can say that I now I know how to take care of a child. I love this reel so much. Definitely worth the money.

From: Owen: 6/16/21

Comments: Great reel. I've never used diawa before but I decided to try one and all my other reels are lews. Casting distance is great with less effort then you'd need with the lews. I love my lews but I am very happy with this reel. I like it as good or better then my lews. Took a minute to get use to the settings but once I did it's absolutely great

From: Unknown: Grayson County: KY 6/16/21

Comments: This reel is pretty great for its price range. The only issue I experienced is if the breaking system is not set properly, on the cast it will make a crackling sound. Once the break is set properly the reel is great.

From: Unknown: 6/14/21

Comments: This reel is no joke. Its smooth, light weight, casts better then the normal Tatula(which is still a great reel), I only mention this because if you are trying to decide between the tatula and the sv, the extra cost is worth it. Only gripe is the shiny finish and the kinda short handle. Overall- buy it.

From: Sean: Berkeley Spring, WV 5/30/21

Comments: Its amazing. If you like the t wing system and want a lightweight reel- this is the one.

From: Sean: West Virginia 5/19/21

Comments: Great line. The only flouro line that doesn't wrinkle when the knot is pulled tight.

From: Unknown: 5/17/21

Comments: Awesome reel. Casts well. Got the low gear ratio for crankbait.

From: Steve: Hudson Valley, NY 5/17/21

Comments: Like it's predecessor, the new Tatula SV is a really great casting reel but now lighter and more compact. If you want a reel to bomb cast, this is not the reel for you but if you are looking for more control, then you can't go wrong. I really like this reel for pitching and skipping and it's also very good for lighter lures.

From: Dean: North Adams, MA 4/20/21

Comments: Really great reel for the price. Lots of great features that other companies can't match in this reel. The SV spool is excellent for skipping and casting into the wind. Don't sleep on this reel for long casts either, It can bomb lures out with ease.

From: ZMC_Fishing: Indiana 3/29/21

Comments: This is my 2nd Daiwa Tatula SV TW.  I own numerous reels in this price range and this is by far my favorite reel. I always make sure the lure that I will b using the most is tied on the rod with this reel. Now I have 2. The reel casts great w the t-wing and is very hard to backlash. If u are in the market for a reel in the price range I would not hesitate to recommend this reel.

From:
Unknown: 2/20/21

Comments:
You can not adjust the spool tension dail and it makes some kind of noise when you cast. Sent it back and got old model

From: Steve: Walker, LA 2/1/21

Comments: I got this reel a few months ago and spooled it up with 15lb red label fluro. This reel casts really far once you get the brakes tuned in right. It's really easy to tune the brakes as there are 20 setting and each click changes the brakes the same amount as the next, as well as the factory spool tension doesnt need to be adjusted at all. The handle on this reel is smaller than I expected but I have grown to love it, it provides a very compact feel and an ease at retrieving. The retrieve is very very smooth, for me better than the Curado DC and the Curado K. Another aspect of this reel that shines is its ability to cast very small baits, weightless 4inch Senkos fly on this thing with minimal backlash. Overall love the reel and highly recommend.

From: Luke: San Jose, CA 1/29/21

Comments: I got this reel last Xmas and I used it twice so far and I had some issue with it. The first time I used it I was fishing in 40 degree weather and when I would launch the piss out of it, the reel had some cracking and crunching noises coming from the gears but when I was cast it out not as hard it was smooth. My second time fishing it, it was 80 degrees and when I would launch the piss out of it, it was butterfly smooth. Ya super weird. I looked up some more reviews and a lot of people had the same issue. When fishing in 50 degrees below it has this effect. Tell me why Diawa?

From: Alvin W: Corona, CA 1/24/21

Comments: Excellent reel for the money! I've got several of these now and haven't had any issues. Super smooth.

From: Byron: Columbia, TN 1/6/21

Comments: I got this reel a couple months back from my grandma but I wasn't able to use it till Christmas, I got this reel and a expride but I put my curado dc on my expride and the tatula on my Phoenix m1 rod, first thing that I noticed when first using it is it takes very little time to adjust it, and if you are using it casting with the wind and then the wind turns on you or your now throwing into the wind, just a little tightens onnthe spool tenchion nob and a click or 2 on the external dial and your casting into the wind with no backlash, this reel is incredible for 200 and is extremely smooth, if your thinking about this reel, get it, it's worth it.

From: Diego: Greenville TX 12/30/20

Comments: Recently purchased this reel to go along with a ZBone LMH as a versatile setup on lighter stuff aswhile as skipping. It has performed greatly. Its more comfortable and sleeker then the previous generation of Tatula SV and just as tough. I hear many people say SV reels lack distance compared to other reels in there price point. No such thing here. I can bomb cast with this thing on fast and mod/fast tapers and lost plenty of lures underestimating its capabilities. One major pro I feel straight fluorocarbon line will last longer on SV reels less blow ups from memory issues. They also compare well to my curado reels 70/DC or just straight fluorocarbon setups. My only gripe is cosmetic i miss the color accents from the older SV makes organizing easier. Do be aware if you are a braid to leader guy longer leaders will get stuck in T-Wing system if they are too long.

From: Carlton: Los Angeles, CA 12/27/20

Comments: I love these reels for throwing reaction baits in windy conditions. You can just chuck them with very little concern for backlash. Overall very nice reel for reasonable price.

From: Dean: Oklahoma 10/13/20

Comments: I'm a long time SV tw user, I own 5 of them, and wanted to try the 2020 version. It's smaller in hand and a little lighter. Daiwa kept what I like about the older version. Casts well with all weights, and styles of baits. Casting into the wind is fantastic, no issues. The retrieve is very smooth both when working baits, and under load. I really like the feel of the smaller grips too.

From: Unknown: Illinois 10/4/20

Comments: Ive been fishing Shimano for years and decided this year to venture out and try a few Daiwas. I bought two of these in the 7.1 ratio and so far have used them for skipping docks flipping and pitching 1/2 oz jigs and Winding spinner baits and bladed jigs. They cast and retrieve smooth. The only complaint I have right now is how they engineered the spool tension dial. It is extremely hard to get to as its positioned so close to the drag star and only the very top of the dial turns. Its also extremely tight so being tight and hard to get to makes it difficult to adjust. Once its dialed in the reel is very nice and performs well.

From: Kyle: 10/04/20

Comments:  I'm impressed with the real so far. I love having the thumb virtually thumbless casting and the fact that it's a small Nerf real where I can have enough line but not have to use backer I haven't caught anything on it yet so I haven't been able to test a drag how well it holds up I guess when I do I will edit my review. As of right now I would certainly buy another one.

Comments: Still didn't fix the fatal flaw and protect the brake dial. I palm my reel, and if I don't cover it with electrical tape, it will move every cast. I'll be using lews tournament pro lfs reels from now on.

Comments: Im a shimano guy at heart but wanted to break into the Daiwa game this year. Bought this reel and I must say Im impressed! It will cast a good ways. Not as good as the Curado DC will but all in all I am impressed. There are a few things I dont like about the reel like with the drag being a little too inconsistent and it doesn't cast into the wind well but overall I do love this reel. I still like my bantams and Curado DCs more as I cant find anything I don't love about those reels but I'll be buying this reel again!

Comments: This is a totally different type of reel meant for lighter applications. The drag is significantly lighter to the point i have to slam the drag down to even get a solid hookset. Also be aware this reel is significantly smaller, I would even venture to say it's tiny. Just know this reel isn't at all the same as the previous one. The one thing I can say is that this reel does VERY well is that it is a great caster. It casts almost as well as my Daiwa zillion 2016 edition.   I will be sending back though due to misunderstanding of the type of fishing this reel was designed for.

Comments: Big fan of this reel.  When almost everywhere was closed due to covid I rediscovered my passion for fishing, I've always loved it but with work and kids I had just been fishing less and less.  I've probably fished more this year then I have the past 6 or 7  years combined.  Long story short I have purchased a lot of fishing equipment this year, just wanting to try out different brands.  I do own the DC models of the slx and curado and I do prefer those over this reel but I'll definitely have to add some more Daiwa's to my collection.  I have this reel paired up with the 7'4" Favorite phat glass and use it for crankbaits.  Other then Shimano and Daiwa I have a couple Abu Garcia's and a Lew's, this is my favorite reel that isn't a Shimano DC

Comments: I own 4 of these 2020 model reels.  2 in 8.1, 1 in 7.1 and 2 in 6.3. These reels are pretty awesome.  If you're worried you're going to spool yourself making a cast, I don't see it happening unless you're throwing 20lb Fluoro on an 8 foot rod with a 4oz plug.  Then MAYBE, outside of that though, the amount of line these holds feels perfect to me.  I'm running 50lb braid on 2, 65lb braid on 1 and 17ln fluoro on 2.  Those closest I have come to spooling myself is 20% left on the reel.  The nice thing about this is not having to waste money on backing like you would a traditional reel. I find I have had to adjust the spool tension knob just a touch tighter then they come from the factory, outside of that any backlashes I have had have been minimal.  I honestly can't see myself ever going back to traditional sized spool reels again.  The only reel I have that isn't an SV is the Elite Pitch/Flip because of the increased drag for punching the heaviest of stuff.  For everyday pitching and flipping in heavy cover these reels have more then enough power.

Comments: I bought this reel about a month ago and paired it with by Dobyns dock skipping rod. The two together paired perfectly. I was a little hesitant to buy this reel as I use Shimano reels on all of my other rods, but this is a very impressive reel. Extremely smooth, breaking system is great. Feels solid in hand.  If I botch a skip the backlash is minimal or not at all. I will be buying a few more of these reels in the future. My only dislike is the the way the Twing system interacts with a connection knot. I fish a lot of braid to mono and tie a blood knot. I have noticed with the Twing system that knot will catch when reeling back in sometimes to make the next cast. I have never had that issue with a Shimano. Easy fix by adjusting the leader length a few inches. Overall though this is a great reel.

Comments: Best reel on the market in my opinion. Impossible to backlash and better than the DC system from Shimano. Reel is buttery smooth and you can make it cast as far or as short as you want simply my adjusting the brakes.

Comments: I love this reel. I had a Shimano Curado DC, and I've had more fun and less issues with this. This reel is just super easy to use. The less issues you have, the more time in the water for your baits. Super smooth, and strong.

Comments: Best reel I've ever owned. So smooth.

Comments: Incredible reel! I bought the 7:1 for throwing jackhammers but have also tested it on lighter tackle. It handles anything you could throw at it. I'd say it definitely has slightly better performance upgrades from the old model (which I also have and keep in rotation). Casts a mile. Smoother than smooth. I throw this mostly with 12lb invisx flouro and have not had one backlash yet. And that's saying a lot on windy Lake Erie. Super easy to tweek when changing baits. Do not hesitate to give this reel a try. My Shimano reels have been collecting dust since I bought mine.

Comments: Unbelievable performance on a bass rod. As buttery as my Steez and casts almost as far. Never seen a reel with such light weight and smooth gearing for $199!
