Comments: I will update the review once I actually use the reel. Bought for use in the gulf, but haven't used it yet. The reel is comfortable and compact. Nice long reel handle with larger knows. Nice and smooth, no grinding from lack of being greased from the factory that so many suffer from.

Comments: Second time owning one of these and I haven't been pleased either time. Out of the box they feel geary and with a little research you'll find that this is also a common problem with tatula SV TW (same reel with a shallower spool and different paint) due to being under greased from the factory. But this reel does not hold up well in salt. At least not for me wade fishing. Reels were never dunked and rinsed with a light mist and then dried by hand after each use and after a few trips they began to feel rough and sound raspy on the retrieve. Sucks because they do cast well and are very manageable in super windy conditions. The previous model is a very solid option though with all CRBB it has held up fine in the salt but casting light lures is not its strong suit. Hopefully the new coastal 80 will be an improvement over this one (has all CRBB). But if your looking for something in that 100-150 size I'd take a look at the tranx 150 very very impressed with that reel so far.

Comments: If you like casting finesse gear like 1/4 or 1/5 ounce, and you like inshore fishing, this is your reel! I ned rig/dropshot/swimbait at these weights fishing socal bays for spotties. If you fish in a similar manner, you'll fall in love. This reel is a good step up from the tranx in my opinion for casting lighter baits. If you cast heavier baits then the tranx 200 may be better. I can say though that this will cast a 1/5 ned rig as far or farther than a tranx 200, and is noticeably more sensitive detecting bites and going over eelgrass. If you know how to wash a baitcaster after using it in saltwater, she'll stay nice and smooth. Been using this for a month while fishing 3 times a week, all saltwater bay fishing. Still feels as buttery as it did out of the box, solid reel for finesse inshore fishing.

Comments: Ok, I have had this reel for about a month now and I can say it's an excellent reel all round. It's very light compared to my shimano bantam but I will say one thing I hate about this reel is the fact that any time I cast it, I always get this loud whirring sound from the brakes and TBH I hate the sound. I love how far it casts, it outcast my bantam easily but my bantam is whisper quiet. The reel is very smooth and every thing feels great except the tension knob, it's almost non existent. It's tiny and weird to adjust at first. It holds 200 yards of 20 which I think is perfect for this being a "salt water" reel just in case you run into something big you have the capacity. Last note I love the larger handle size.

Comments: I have had two of these reels for over a year now and they have been excellent. You get this reel set up properly and it is impossible to backlash. Works great for skipping lures around and under docks.

Comments: This is a great reel! I own multiple shimano and Diawia casting reels. The newer diawia reels seem to fit my thumb far better ( my thumbs are average size or below btw) than the shimanos do. I have two metanium150 reels that make my thumbs feel crammed. I think it's also the higher frame design that force you into a small position. These costal are excellent casting, comfortable and just solid all around reels. Wish they made these same models in a silver color. The blue is just not my style but still a great reel and price point.

Comments: I purchased the Coastal 150HS for fishing the saltwater lagoons in north San Diego county and the bigger bays a little further south. I own a couple other "saltwater" baitcasting reels but but was never satisfied with the feel or performance. Seemed like I could never cast lighter weight set-ups with any distance or consistency. The SV air brake feature on the Coastal intrigued me so I purchased my first Coastal 150HS reel in April (2020). The Coastal 150HS was exactly what I was needed. I was able to cast a 1/4oz set-up a good distance without backing the brake completely off. This pretty much eliminated backlash. I put a lot of saltwater hours on the reel and only rinsed with fresh water on occasion. I figured the reel was built for saltwater so shouldn't need fresh water rinse after every session. After 3-4 months the spool started to get sticky so I opened it up and was surprised to see a lot of crud built up on the main spool shaft. The reel isn't sealed as much as one would expect. Now I rinse with fresh water after every session and open up for a cleaning at the start of every month. One additional pointer...don't adjust the spool tension! There is a section in the included instruction about proper (factory) spool tension setting. Too loose and the spool will make a terrible squeal when casting. Overall I like this reel so much that I purchased a second one in July (2020). The 150 frame fits really well in the hand, the drag is buttery smooth, and the SV air brake performance is outstanding. I'm amazed that I can actually feel the difference of 1 click on the brake setting.

Comments: Great casting reel and especially great 1/2+oz lures once you dial it in. However, the stock drag sucks and goes out quick. I suggest that you upgrade the drag to the Carbontex for the Daiwa Tatula 100/Elite. 1) the carbon washer that sits inside the main gear has a bigger surface (about 2x the size of the stock one) and 2) that orange washer sitting under the main gear is the culprit for going bad fast, which causes a jerky drag. Aside from that great little reel for light/medium light duty use.

Comments: Great reel! I have all current Steez models and I can say that my initial experience with this reel, when it comes to performance, is very close to what a Steez can produce. Additionally it is very smooth! The Steez are more refined and have higher quality components and are a bit lighter, but I am not sure if they are worth 250+ USD. If the reel behaves similarly long term as my Daiwa Coastal TW, this reel is a clear buy!

Comments: I have had this reel now for 6 months. I fish Okeechobee and shallow water flats. By far the best reel to cast a Big EZ into or down wind and never backlash. Super smooth and never have to adjust it.

Comments: I've been using this reel for 3 weeks now. Tested on some big Jacks and redfish out by the jetties. Loaded up with 50lb yo Zuri super braid and heavy action rod. I'm telling you this reel is beef up to handle these inshore big boys. Smooth, drag, casting, and smooth reeling in. These SV reels along with TWS from Daiwa are the real deal. Pick one at a fishing show from a Daiwa rep. And I was instantly sold on this reel. So easy to palm on a rod. Besides the beautiful blue color and design. This reel going to get the job done for what I'm catching.

Comments: Have had this reel for awhile now. Use it from anything 2oz to literally 3/8oz. Pair with a milliken fishing mfer rod 7'5 Xheavy for big swimbaits. Using 30lb PLine braid. Casts like a dream. Hucks baits far and with ease. And has no problem even with the 11lb drag. From bass to pike to wiper. This reel gets it done. And it looks phenomenal.

Comments: Just got this reel last week and its a dream to fish with. I didn't catch anything with it yet but it casts a 1 oz bucktail 50 yards or more into the wind with ease, and without the need to keep your thumb on the spool which is their main selling point. highly recommend for both salt and fresh water. I have a two tatulas (sv and 150) and with the exception of the oversized handle (100mm is awesome!) its just as small as the SV and maybe even smaller which is incredible considering it has 20lbs of drag and is made for much bigger fish
