Country Mile CastI needed a new reel for my C rig and wow this reel without much effort will launch my brush hogs further than my Curados. That said I cover much more water on each cast. My service at Tackle warehouse is excellent and I have thoughts of adding additional Daiwa in the near future.

It's a bit too early to tell, but......this is an incredibly well-made reel, and its smoothness rivals my Shimano's. Unless something is horribly wrong out of the gate, it's touch to say you love/hate anything in the first couple of outings. But, so far I'm very happy with it. Not sure if I'm getting the casting distance as advertised, but that could very well be how I've got it set. I tend to keep my reels set a bit "tight". At the saem time, I didn't purchase it for that reason. If I need THAT much distance, I'll go to spinning tackle. But, I digress... It does cast very far, but again, the smoothness is outstanding, and fish with confidence with how well-made, and rock-sold this reel is. Have no problem whatsoever recommending this reel to anyone. Should my experience go sideways by the time I put it through its paces, I'll update my review, as such.

Great reelDamn good reel. I recently began picking up Daiwa reels as I’ve been a shimano guy for the most part. Man, these are some smooth reels! Cast great and the retrieve is quick! Stock bearings are great but i swapped mine out for ceramics and it runs almost identical to my steez reels that cost much more! I love my Shimano reels, but Daiwa is undeniable and there’s a good chance i may be swapping most of mine over.

Comments: Very nice reel, cast phenomenally. Quick story though. I bought this reel and when used I noticed a squealing coming from the spool. I returned it with no problem from TW. I received another in less than 2 weeks. The new one had a light squeal when casting. I shouldn't have to but I took the cover off and removed the spool to grease the bearings myself. Put back together and now cast great. Another positive note is that now after learning how to do minor maintenance I have now greased all my reels.

Comments: Very unique reel! I love the feel, size, and ease of adjustment. Casts well with 12 lbs and higher weight lines. Plenty of power. Be sure to adjust in small increments. I have been a Shimano Curado fan, but this reel has my attention. Won't really know until I catch a 9+ lbs fish with it. That's when the rubber meets the road.

From: Unknown: 8/14/23

Comments: The Daiwa Tatula Elite is absolutely perfect for me, a relative beginner with casting reels. The two dials on the reel that you adjust for casting to avoid backlashing are so simple for me to work with. I'm a newb, and I don't encounter backlashes with this reel....and I have 3 of them now. Also, a shout out to Tackle Warehouse, I got one as a gift in late fall and didn't set it up. Three months later, when I did set it up, I discovered the drag didn't work. Not only to TW replace it, they paid for shipping to and from my house. That's customer service.

From: PJ: PA 3/1/23

Comments: This reel is a fantastic choice for a variety of applications for a bait casting set up. The solid braking system, great torque for pulling in even the big ones. This is the third Tatula Elite in our arsenal of casting rods, going on a 7'3 MH rod with a fast tip. Should be a great addition. Replacing another brand that flat out couldn't hold up to the grind like these reels do.

From: Mike: Cypress, TX, USA 2/5/23

Comments: I have the Diawa steez and the tatula sv tw and was pleased with them. I purchased the Diawa Tatula Elite and paired it with a Mega Bass Valkyrie and really enjoyed the casting distance and feel of this combo.

From: Eddie: Hillister, Texas 12/31/22

Comments: This reel gets a 5 out of 5 from me. They got everything right on this one. Price point to quality, weight, casting and drag performance, line capacity, looks and overall feel is really hard to beat.

From: Shannon: Sunland, CA 12/1/22

Comments: If you're having trouble like I was using a bait caster buy this reel it changed my outlook on baitcasters. I was just going to hang up the towel on them because they ****** me off.  After using this reel it really helps with preventing back lashes and it casts very far. I'm super happy with the purchase. I was very nervous spending the money on this when I thought I'd get the same results as other baitcasters. I was happy to find out I was wrong. PS don't adjust the spool tension knob it comes preset and it's perfect.

From: Justin: NY 11/7/22

Comments: Purchased the Daiwa Tatula Elite, to me this does cast nice and smooth, with excellent casting distance. This is one baitcaster I always have with me, have had a few back lashes with the 40 lb braid, found a few minor adjustments depending on conditions "wind" and it is just fun to throw. Many people may question that its cost is a high, Tackel Warehouse had the best price. I have purchased a few reels from this company very happy.

From: Patrick: Branford, Ct 7/8/22

Comments: The reel is bad to the bone. I use it for a 5/16-3/8 swim-jig on 7'6" rod. I fish in FL, so its perfect for bombing a 100' cast to cover some water but then flipping some near by reeds on the very next cast. No adjustments needed. Backlash not a problem, smooth retrieve. I love this reel.

From: Lane: FL 7/7/22

Comments: This is not my most expensive reel, but it is one of my favorites! I use it exclusively for crankbaits in clear water, so I run straight fluoro and never have any issues. Have more than one, highly recommend.

From: Joe: Ohio 6/24/22

Comments: DAIWA T-ELITE GETS MY VOTE. AS A PRO ON THE MLF TOUR I DEMAND A REEL THAT WILL PERFORM AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. THE TALTULA ELITE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN. WEATHER YOUR CRANKING,PITCHING OR FLIPPING YOUR GOING TO NOTICE THIS IS ONE OF THE EASIEST REELS TO THROW. THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND ADJUSTMENTS ARE DIALED IN. BEST REEL ON THE MARKET FOR UNDER 300.00

From: Jason: Battle Ground, IN 5/27/22

Comments: I really like this reel and would recommend it to anyone. I recently took this reel out for some shore testing and threw several big swimbaits 2 1/2 oz and some jerkbaits.i was pleased to see it handled the swimbaits with ease and going from heavy lures to light was very easy to swap between but if you plan on buying this with these options in mind adjusting the spool brake is a pain its meant to run one place and dial the clutch.i got it for topwater n jerks.it cast very well and the bell clutch it has is actually amazing how it works vs my old standard clutch.i feel this reel is worth the price

From: Andy: Minnesota 4/17/22

Comments: Bought this for frogging/buzzbaits. Cast extremely well, smooth on the retrieve. Feels solid. Just another fantastic Daiwa product.

From: Kirk: Nashville, TN 3/4/22

Comments: Very nice, smooth and strong reel. It cast a mile and makes fishing easy. I don't feel like I am fighting the lure through the water because of the smoothness. I highly recommend this reel and it's at that great price point

From: Unknown: Diamond Valley Lake, CA 1/28/22

Comments: Well, I got the 6.3:1, it casts pretty good and hyper. But the 6.3 is a very slow retrieve . It's not easy to retrieve speed worms, swim jigs, paddle tails, etc. You really have to work to get them particular lures tails to vibrate right. So keep that in mind that you'll want one of the two higher ratios for those type of baits. It's also a lot more work when reeling in a fish (because of the low line recovery, the gears are solid and powerful, just has very little line recovery). As far as the overhype of casting distances, my old Tatula Type R outcasts it, my sons Tatula 100 is pretty much the same distance as the Elite. Overall the reel is solid, but the casting distance is a little overhyped.

From: Bill: Florida 1/18/22

Comments: Very smooth even with a lot of use. Serviced at 2 years and still feel brand new. Light, sturdy, cast for days even with weightless stickbaits. Nothing I don't like about these reels. The only other baitcast reels I own are zillion and a few of the 103SV which are the same frame but with SV spool and brakes.

From: Dean: Oklahoma 12/6/21

Comments: Elite paired with an IMX Pro jerkbait rod...very nice. The reel is quiet and I can put a fluke anywhere I need it to be, including a nice long distance considering no added weight. Looks nice as well. Definitely recommend

From: Jason: Memphis, TN 10/20/21

Comments: Smooth smooth smooth. I have the SV and the extra money for the elite is worth it.

From: Rooster: Augusta GA 9/29/21

Comments: Have two of these and find them just amazing.  Cast a country mile, once dialed in you never backlash, durable, light, absolute perfection.

From: Glenn: Washington 9/9/21

Comments: My new favorite. I have a Revo SX and a tatula ct. The tatula elite is very light and lives up to the hype of effortless distanced casts. I'm a little untraditional and have been using it for drop shotting with a half ounce weight. The reel handles this application with ease. Have it paired with the medium daiwa tatula ct casting rod 7" (not the ags one) and it's phenomenal. Highly recommend this reel to others.

From: Unknown: Atlanta 6/24/21

Comments: Coming from a true Shimano guy , I now own two of these reels. I love this reel and will be looking at more in the near future.

From: Ernie: Bonita, CA 6/23/21

Comments: Just like all Diawa reels this thing is awesome. Very easy to tune and casts lures from a 1/4oz to 3oz swim baits.

From: Jack: Massachusets 6/18/21

Comments: This is the newest to my Daiwa collection and it did not disappoint. Most I've ever paid for a reel and after casting it out on a few trips I can say spend the money and cry once. It is well worth it. My wife even liked how smooth it was and how long it would cast out.

From: Cody: Laurel, MS 5/27/21

Comments: I am not impressed by the performance I got out of these reels. I purchased 2 in the slower gear ratios for throwing cranks on my Dobyns champion XP's and they do feel good in the hand but they don't cast like it should be $240.

From: Unknown: Lake Cumberland, KY 5/27/21

Comments: Love this reel but....definitely came completely dry from the factory. First few trips out with it, unbearable whine on the cast and a noticeable clicking noise while reeling. Read on a few different bass forums of multiple guys with the same issue so funny no reviews on here saying the same. Quick breakdown and oil and it casts super smooth and silent...daiwa should have these oiled from the factory, not really an excuse for it coming dry like that but still a great reel.

From: Corey: New York 5/16/21

Comments: Great product!!  smooth casting, great braking system.  This is my 3rd elite and I have 6 of the model below.  Tatula is the way to go in reels.  It has Daiwa dependability!!

From: Tim: 5/15/21

Comments: Update: Put some more time into the Elite and found out the casting distance isn't overhyped. It casted farther than my 2020 Metanium. Mine may have been dry because it wasn't as smooth as everyone said it was. My only real complaint would still be the dial digging into my hand. After using it longer I have seen that it isn't overrated like I had originally thought.

Original: In all honesty, this is the most overrated reel I have ever used. The casting distance is alright but I have reels that cast further, the Scorpion MGL which is around the same price point can cast further and it's smoother. Many people have said this reel is supposedly super smooth but I've felt smoother reels that are cheaper. The weight of this reel is nice but after palming it for a while the dial starts to really annoy your hand when it runs up against it.

From: Unknown: Lake Champlain, VT 5/8/21

Comments: Got this reel for Christmas and it has taken until now to get some on water experience . I bought it to bomb long distance casts. I am comparing this to a Shimano Curado DC which I have used for over a year. This reel is lighter and much smaller in the hand. The finish is excellent with an understated, tasteful aesthetic. I have been using 50lb braid recently to throw frogs. The distance is impressive and quite comparable to the DC which I have set up with lighter pound test, It is achieved however with less effort. I have less trouble with backlashing with this reel and in general with most Daiwa reels as compared to Shimano reels- even the DC variety.. The Shimano may be oh so little smoother but the difference is negligible. My only complaint would be that the handles are too small. In summary an outstanding product well worth considering if you want to pay this level of pricing.

From: William: Indianapolis IN, 4/24/21

Comments: Just to clarify this reel is definitely 2x better than the CT the guy who said it wasn't doesn't know what he's talking about. Its also definitely worth the money. I have the Daiwa Tatula CT, Tatula 100, Tatula SV TWS 2017 and Tatula SV TWS 2020. This reel is buttery smooth I also own the shimano SLX XT and SLX DC. This reel outperforms both SLX XT and SLX DC. I really enjoy fishing my SLX DC it was my go to reel. When I received my Tatula Elite that changed for me the Elite casts effortlessly. If you have your tension knob and brakes set correctly you will definitely outcast every reel I've mentioned using half the effort you would use on the other reels. I was considering the Curado DC but at $250.00 and weighing more I just don't see it being worth it. If you're considering this reel don't think twice just do it you will not be disappointed.

From: Misael: Orange, CA 4/14/21

Comments: Nice reel, but I don't get the price tag. Twice as much as a CT, but not twice as good. I have a CT, 2 100's and this Elite. I just don't get it. Maybe I'm an outcast, but I'm going to stick with my others.

From: Ryan: Wichita, KS 4/6/21

Comments: I have used many if not all the major brands. I bought these for my tournament travel as I did not want to damage my "good stuff" I am now looking to change all my reels. They are super smooth and provide ability to make longer casts. Unfortunately have not caught anything that has tested the drag but I am very confident these reels will handle any fish. If you are considering these reels don't hesitate they are well worth the cost.

From: Unknown: 3/28/21

Comments:
My all time favorite reel.  I have various Tatulas, a Curado DC, some 13 Fishing and some Lews...The Tatula Elite is my favorite...A beautiful reel and it can cast ANYTHING including a 1/8 oz Texas rigged 4" finesse worm.  I do love my Curado but if I had to choose one I'd go with my Elite.  Grips are a tad small is about the only gripe...but not a huge deal.  I'm considering selling my 13 Fishing and Lews and picking up another Elite.

From: Jim: Atlanta, GA 3/16/21

Comments: I have only used the reel a couple of times since I bought it so far I'm happy with it but one thing I don't care for is it is really loud when making a cast.

From: Jeff 3/14/21

Comments: These are fantastic reels. Every once in a while the real doesn't work perfectly when I get it. I have returned them each time and never had any trouble getting a brand new one in its place. I really appreciate the ease with which I can replace any defective reels. I can't recommend these reels any higher.

From: Mike: 2/13/21

Comments: Well...I waited for a while for this reel. And it was worth it.  Looks beautiful, feels beautiful, casts beautiful, retrieves beautiful.  Does it cast as far as everyone says? Not necessarily.  I think it casts quicker and more effortless. But as far as casting from shore it doesn't cast further than my Tatula Type-R. I think alot of people judge casting distances in boats. I have a place i fish that you can't bring a boat, its just shore fishing, plenty of open space, warm weather, and you can get the max performance out of reels. I put this Tatula Elite on the same rod, same 40lb power pro, same 1/4oz bullet weight, same 4/0 ewg, same magnum speed worm and cast the same casts over and over to compare. And it just doesn't cast further than my Type R. And yes I'm a Sorcerer at tuning reels to make long casts.  Is it worth the money? Absolutely. It makes nice long quiet casts. But definitely isn't the "longest casting reel on the market" like as advertised. It definitely casts good enough to where you'll be completely satisfied with it. I'd buy more, I'd recommend it to everyone, etc. But please people stop saying this is the longest casting reel on the market.

From: Bill: Fort Lauderdale, FL 12/24/20

Comments: I previously bought the Tatula 100 this Elite is miles ahead of it predecessor I love these reels Buy it. It's worth the money.

From: Jim: Clermont, FL 11/5/20

Comments: The reel is great it casts along distance and is very smooth the draw is the knobs are to small

From: Tom: Lakewood, CA 11/5/20

Comments: This reel is a game changer. Very smooth long cast and no noise at all. Plenty of power for 5lbs smallmouth to 19.8lb. Northern pike. Very adjustable but not much needed. Spendy but worth it. I have purchased another already.

From: Jeff: Kennewick, WA 11/4/20

Comments:Save yourself some money and DON'T buy the 6'9" skipping rod. There is absolutely no tip! It's like they took their longer skipping rod and just cut off the tip to make it shorter. Diawa makes some great rods, but this is not one.

From: Paul - Reedsburg, WI

Comments: These guys are right! This throws your stuff and you don't even know! I've got other high end reels and they're still great, but they could have named this the launcher, it casts further than what you're using. Like Dean from sin city, I like me some Shimanos, but this thing will turn a person. If your into distance and you want to see your lure sail into the sunset. Meet the elite, I like mine!

From: Unknown: Fargo, ID 8/20/20

Comments:I've had a bit of a problem with the Elite reels because they cast so far I've had to recalibrate when I switch over from other reels on my deck. Good lord they launch! I use this reel primarily for getting distance with lighter/high profile lures like jerkbaits and buzzbaits. I don't know how many buzz baits at first that I accidentally launched well up into the trees on shore. I may have to switch all my reels over to Elites so I get accustomed to a consistent casting distance again. Overall a good problem to have!

From: Cap: 8/20/20

Comments:Bought the Elite in the 6.3 to use primarily to throw jerkbaits. The performance is top notch. Lake Erie's unpredictable weather and gusty winds are no match for the Elite. It throws jerkbaits a mile. Casting with the wind, using 12lb invisX flouro, I have come close to casting far enough to reach my braid backing (easily 60-75 yards). I do not hesitate to cast into wind. It never fails. No bashlash. Handles big and small baits with ease. Perfect reel for any time you need to cover some serious water. Well worth the price tag. Daiwa has completely phased out any reel I have that says shimano. AMAZING!

From: Justin: Buffalo, NY 3/29/20

Comments:These reels are amazing I can spool them on every cast in head on wind that's blowing 15 mph and not back lash when that settings are dialed in. These things cast super far with a super easy lobbing cast. I use these for my pitching reels because I use 20 lb mono and wanted a bit more line capacity then the Flip pitch model had.

From: Anthony: Oregon 3/27/20

Comments: This reel is nothing short of amazing. First off, know I'm a shimano fan. I've used most of their reels. But now and then I'll pick up a daiwa reel out of curiosity. They did an amazing job tweaking this reel for max casting distance, it cast farther then my mentanium MGL, chronarch MGL, and bantam MGL by about 20 feet. Also a high quality reel. if your looking for a reel that gets you distance this is the one. This elite is a steal for $240, highly recommend. Even die hard shimano fans will give this one a thumbs up. Great job daiwa in making a long cast reel, ya nailed it.

From: Dean: Las Vegas, NV 1/4/20

Comments: Wow, finally had a decent amount of time on water with this reel. First, I am not partial to Daiwa or Shimano etc.I really enjoy trying the new technologies, advances each year from each brand. I will just say this, I had aMetanium MGL, Bantam MGL, aSteez SV TWS as well as a Tatula Elite with me on the river this past Saturday and the Elite out performed ALL of those reels in every category. It is advertised for casting distance , which was great but the smoothness on retrieve and overall quality feel are the standouts for me.The best way I could explain it is this: If I had taken someone completely new to casting reels out with me, given them all reels to throw and asked them to rank them as far as price..99.5/100 people would say the Elite was the 599$ reel no question in my mind. It's just solid, casts excellent and again the retrieve is honestly smoother than the Steez and almost identical or slightly ahead of the Metanium MGL for me. Some things to think about of course, yes, my other reels have been used much more previously and maybe some of it has to do with the Elite being brand new. Nobody knows how the new reels might hold up. So, I am not saying I am ready to sell all my reels just yet and switch to only Elites, BUT, I will tell you after fishing it a hand full of times and this past weekend for a solid 3-4 hours..it is currently my favorite reel.

From: Jon: Frederick, MD 10/29/19

Comments:Only had this reel a few weeks but I have to say it's incredible. I have a shimano chronarch(and Antares) and in all honesty this reel is way better...a Daiwa actually better than a more expensive shimano...never thought I would see the day. not only does it cast farther, but the thing is actually buttery smooth(nearly as smooth as my Antares). hard to believe(I know). I still can't believe it. hopefully it stays like this.

From: John: Cleveland, OH 10/10/19

Comments:Been using this reel everyday for almost a week now (I know not that long) I absolutely love it. The zero adjust spool tension knob made me a little worried at first as the lures I using would drop really fast. I adjusted it just the way the book said and let it fly with the brakes half way on and man did that 3/8 oz chatter bait go. Great casting distance and feels great in your hand. If my wife wouldn't kill me I would buy 4 more of them for all my rod setups. I highly recommend this reel.

From:Ryan: 8/21/19

Comments:This thing is the real deal! Outcasts all my SV TW's, Curados, Lews, and Abu's. Very smooth on the retrieve also. If you're looking to skip and be in closer combat situations I'd recommend the SV TW just because of the braking. But, if you need something to launch yourlures(>1/4oz), this is it! Only issue was is the directions stated the adjuster tension knob was set to ideal conditions out of the box, and I should use just the brakes. I did have to adjust the knob just slightly to get max distance. Overall very pleased with this reel and will be picking up more down the road.
