Overview

The Daiwa Tatula SV100 Casting Reel is loaded with Daiwa’s latest top-tier technologies to make it one of the best performing reels in its class. Featuring Daiwa’s G-1 Duralumin SV Boost Spool coupled with the T-Wing System, the Tatula SV100 Casting Reel utilizes an electromagnetic two-stage braking system that maximizes casting distance and accuracy by optimally controlling spool speed at the beginning and end of the cast.

To further increase the Tatula SV100 Casting Reel’s performance, it’s equipped with Daiwa’s HyperDrive Design, which includes a DIGIGEAR with larger cut teeth and a double supported pinion gear to increase durability and cranking power that remains smooth under heavy loads. The aluminum frame also provides a rock-solid foundation to keep all the internals inline, while the Ultimate Tournament Drag delivers robust power to pull big fish away from cover. Finished with a 90mm swept handle design that keeps your cranking hand closer to the reel to reduce lateral torque, the Daiwa Tatula SV100 Casting Reel is a high performance baitcasting reel that is built for the demands of avid tournament angling.

Features:
-HyperDrive Design
-G-1 Duralumin SV Boost Spool 32mm
-T-Wing System(TWS)
-Aluminum Frame
-Ultimate Tournament Drag (UTD)

Nice smooth reel, only 2 minor concernsThis reels is very smooth out of the box. Its a great size for light tackle too. The two concerns I have are relatively easy to correct. For one, its really true that Daiwa factory does not put any grease on the main drive or pinion gears, yet they put grease on many other parts. So, I had to open the handle side of the reel housing to add grease to those gears, which requires taking off the handle and drag washers. Also, the spool tension knob was not set correctly at the factory as claimed, had to adjust that myself for a tiny bit of spool play. After these 2 issues were corrected, very nice caster, easy to dial in the brakes too. I put this on a light action rod, and with 8 lb fluorocarbon I can easily cast lures down to 1/8 oz in weight. I have not tried using it for anything heavier than 1/4 oz, since I bought it for light tackle fishing.

Awesome reelI’ve had a couple of the older Tatula’s, the 2016 model I think it is. I wasn’t a fan at all. So I basically wrote off Daiwa and stuck with Shimano. Well after I checked this new model out in person and took it to the lake a few times, I’ve totally changed my mind about Daiwa.. The older model didn’t palm all that well for me and I was always accidentally adjusting the brake setting when fishing with them and when I put covers on I would always move the spool tensioner.. Well all those problems are fixed on this new model. It palms beautifully, the brake setting is tighter/stiffer if that makes sense (it’s not hard to adjust by any means but you’re not going to accidentally move it), the spool tensioner comes set from the factory so you don’t have to mess with it and you’re not gonna accidentally move it around either.. I’m a believer in the SV boost spool. I get better distance with this new Tatula sv100 casting balsa square bills and flat side baits than I get with a curado 150mgl and I don’t back lash near as much if any at all with the Daiwa. The braking system is easier and quicker to adjust on the fly while fishing. Depending on wind or the cast you’re making (short roll cast around cover or a bomb cast) just adjust it a few notches in either direction and you’re dialed right in. This is just overall a fantastic reel. If you’re thinking about buying one just do it, I promise you’re gonna love it.

Fantastic!I am a shimano guy, but have started dabbling in Daiwa over the last few years. I have several Metaniums, Bantam A's, Curado 150, 70, also Zillions, SV TW's, Tatulas, etc....So basically I have a lot of reels in the larger and smaller offerings. I like the Daiwa's, but what I have found is that while just as smooth as shimano, the casting distance was always a little lacking which hurt with some presentations. This real and the new 150 are different. They are right there with Shimano and I think Daiwa has found the magic formula. Very smooth with very comparable casting distance. I will run both brands going forward. This reel is just fantastic for the money and prefer it over Shimano's of the same size.

Love the reelSolid reel. So smooth that it doesn't feel like the handle is connected to anything. Has definitely become my go to reel for reaction fishing.
